Hotel Granvia Kyoto

We frequently travel around the world but it was our first time in Japan. We were nicely surprised to find that the hotel is physically linked to the station. It is also linked to an amazing shoping center. The hotel is excellent with extremely nice staff. They treat everyone like royalty. The rooms were great. Breakfast buffet was more of a branch with all the types of food anyone could wish for. We consider it the best hotel ever.

Can't beat the location. Convenient for doing day trips e.g. Nara and Osaka as well as visiting sights within Kyoto. Plus all of the places you can get snacks or a quick bite are at your doorstep.

Convenient location at train station with shopping, lots of great restaurants, post office and atm's. Clean and nice but not luxurious.

Definitely stay here for convenience and comfort. Staff is incredibly helpful.

This hotel is in the perfect location for anyone who will be traveling by trains in Japan. Hotel is a little dated but conveniently located and very clean. Gym was nice. Hotel bar was absurdly expensive - there are many better places nearby.

Great Location! I will choose this hotel as well next time to Kyoto.

Perfect location if coming from Tokyo on the bullet train. Hotel was very nice, if a little large and generic. Staff, particularly concierge desk, was very helpful.

Being at the Kyoto Train Station, this hotel is ideal. Kyoto transportation system is almost centralized from the Kyoto station. Hotel is clean, and extremely quiet in the guest floor. We had the room facing north, i.e., seeing Kyoto Tower right out from the window. That's a nice plus.

Strategically located, since you can move from the station to ANY part of the city surroundings like Nara or other cities like Tokyo. Buses go from there to visit the town. I can not imagine a better service than received always friendly and efficiently almost perfect. I travel quite frequently for business and leissure around the world and certainly thi is a hidden treausure. Is a Pitty there are no other Gran Vias around Japan and the rest of the world!

Beautiful hotel located right in the Kyoto train station, with views of Kyoto tower across the street and a pool as well. Room was was spacious and clean, and multiple restaurants etc right nearby.

I stayed at this hotel several times before. When it was newer, the room condition was excellent. This past experience that I had staying with the hotel was in general still pretty good. Especially, I was making a quick 1-night stay in Kyoto for a business trip, and was taking the express Shinkansen train between Kyoto and Tokyo. You couldn't find a better location than Granvia Hotel for an on-the-run business traveller, as the Hotel is right there in the same complex of the Kyoto train station, with an easy access to the gates of the train station that connects with the express train, the JR train, the local train and also the subway. The station is right in the heart of Kyoto. Within 10-minute ride on the subway, you will be visiting the amazing and always crowded Kyoto downtown shooping district. Or, if you have very limited time for a qucik but nice dinner or breakfast, you will find the Isetan shopping mall right next to the Hotel in the same train station complex, with more than 50 restaurants under this gigantic mall, which has probably the longest escalator, inside any mall in the world, that goes all the way up for 11 floors. It is an amazing scene just by looking at this unbelievable escalator. Well, if you have not yet stayed with this Hotel, I would suggest to try it for yourself. Another good thing is that its room rate has been somewhat reduced to a very reasonable range, as there are a few new and wonderful hotels recently developed near the shopping district.

Being right in the train station made arriving and departing Kyoto very easy and saved cab fares. City buses depart from the station and with the all day pass (500 yen) one can go antwhere. The station provides diverse and reasonably priced eating options. The only thing the hotel needs is wi-fi.

The location of this hotel was marvellous! We arrived late at night at Kyoto railway station from Osaka airport and were immediately in the hotel! It was very quiet (despite being a part of the railway station) and we had a wonderful view of the trains coming in and out of the station, as well as the city. The next day we went out the station door to find all the tourist buses waiting for us. You can buy a day pass for all the buses for 500 yen at the little bus ticket office. It also has a bakery where you can buy coffee and something to take with you for a snack.

Beautiful hotel; steps from the shinkansen, close to shopping and transportation. Note that there computer/business office consists of three computers, difficult to use. So take your computer if you need one.

We really enjoyed the central location and superior service. The hotel staff were very helpful with travel and sightseeing questions. Our room was upgraded without any particular request on our part and was very comfortable. After a long airplane trip from the U.S. and train ride from Osaka, it was fabulous to get off the train, take the escalator upstairs to the hotel, and fall into our bed within 10 minutes. We stayed at other "5 star" hotels during our trip and this was the nicest. While this hotel is not inexpensive, we felt the money was well spent.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Granvia for 2 nights. We had a busy itinerary for our short stay in Kyoto, so we wanted convenient access to public transportation. Since the hotel was located inside Kyoto station, the location couldn't have been better for us! The service was incredible. It seemed like there were 3 staff members for every guest! It was a bit awkward being accompanied to our room by 2 staff members, but if you're wanting top-class service, this hotel is definitely a great choice. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a good rate at the hotel since I booked so close to our arrival date. We paid around $230/night, which was FAR too much for a standard room, in my opinion. However, the room was a good size, clean, and had a really great view. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was a good size. The service and location were great. If we had paid less for our room, it would have been perfect! Definitely recommended.

Ours was a sightseeing trip to Kyoto and, since the many sights are spread all over the quite large city, we chose the hotel for its location over the intercity train station (for ease on arrival and departure) and its consequent access to taxis and public transport. That strategy worked perfectly. Equally important, the hotel exceeded all expectations for service even in service-mad Japan. One example--one evening the hotel restaurant we had hoped to walk in to was fully booked, and we asked the concierge to recommend another. Within minutes she had made us a reservation, put together a map plus a letter of introduction to the restaurant manager, and come running up to meet us carrying that plus multiple umbrellas, apologizing all the while that the hotel restaurant had been unable to take us. The recommended restaurant was outstanding.

Great location next to the station. We decided to stay in Kyoto at the last minute, so we made reservations online via wireless internet literally five minutes before checking in. We were upgraded to the best room for no charge. The room was large, comfortable, and very clean. Service was great, which is not unusual since this was Japan. If you've been there before, you'll understand. We wanted to ship some things to the next hotel we were staying and a quick call to the front desk had a staff member in our room with the shipping form and a box in two minutes. He waited for us to pack the box and brought it down for shipping. The concierge was wonderful. She took all the time we needed with suggestions and explaining options and routes. She made color copies of everything for us that were as good as the originals. She even lent us two umbrellas since it looked like rain - which it did. I highly recommend this hotel.

The service was incredible. We were extremely well treated. The room and other facilities was awesome. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Kyoto!

The hotel staff is completely service-oriented and supported my family in an outstanding manner. We had an unfortunate situation which required us to stay an additional night, and the hotel graciously accomodated us. The rooms are spotless, spacious, and comfortable. The bathrooms in the upgraded rooms are fantastic. The breakfast buffet in the Le Temps restaurant is amazing--don't bypass the croissants! We also enjoyed the kaiseki food in the Kitcho restaurant which lived up to its reputation as one of the finest in Kyoto. This was my second stay at the Granvia Kyoto and I will definitely return.
