Very decent hotel. Good value if you book online (we had to do it even though we were at their reception but they were not able to give us better rate in person...). We had a room with window and it was still okay for sleeping, not so much of noise from the street. Air-con worked fine, we did not use it much, room was not so hot and there's a fan too. They have water refill at the reception. Wifi worked fine. Location is really excellent. They provide airport transfer (rate is better if you book it online as ad-on).
We chose Tune for its location and its price (the same as what we would have paid at a backpacker except we got privacy)... and we wish we would have stayed at a hostel instead. The room was dirty with mound all over the bathroom and it never seemed to dry out. The walls were so thin we could hear people’s alarm clocks going off and the lift doors opening from down the hallway. The foot traffic seemed so frequent in the hall - people were literally coming in at 3-4am and had no respect for quiet hours. We couldn’t get the tiny safe to work and in general, we didn’t have confidence in the security of the room. The staff seemed quite uninterested and don’t even bother with the tour counter. Beds quite comfortable however. If you’re considering Tune, explore other options first.
I booked this hotel as it was part of a flight deal from FlyScoot.com - as a result I got a double room at a very, very low price. The hotel was a good pick as it is within walking distance from the Waterfront where evening bazaars and river cruises await. Spent two days walking around the city within a 1 mile radius from the hotel and it was great. Hotel supplies free Wi-Fi during your stay but there are cafes and hotels that also offer guest Wi-Fi on the same street so you can remain connected at no cost with some 'war-driving' :) Service was very friendly with a smile always and they understand all the usual Malaysian and Singaporean jokes. The room was okay and its what I paid for, I had a very quiet peaceful sleep and nice hot showers 2 or 3 times a day as long as I wanted.
Location: walking distance to waterfront and the famous cat statue. But some distance to open air market. It is not hard to look for food, such as ayam penyet ria, RJ ayam Bakar, McD, KFC, new atmosphera mamak, top spot food court. Facility: reception area provide water dispenser, the only complaint is the toilet floor always accumulate with water, the air in the toilet is humid, suggest to install exhaust fan. Service: receptionists are polite
Pros: * Great location (dont be lured to stay here though). * Beds were a comfortable firmness. Cons: * the transfer did not collect us after hour and a half saying to wait after contace. decided they didnt want to come and to catch a taxi - to their positive, they did refund the taxi in full without too much hasstle. * beds had a mouldy tinge.. * one room with the beautiful view was absolutely filthy! the whole window wall area and half of the others were covered in mould. there was dirt in the corners that looked like it had been there years.. This particular room also kept unlocking itself multiple times after we left the room (no help from the front counter) the window also didnt lock and the air conditioning units were very noisy - even if you turned your own one off, the others were still going. * the other room we stayed in was so small that the bed touched the wall on 3 sides, there was no room to open our small carry on suitcase. was a bit cleaner. No view though and in the morning there was some noise from the restaurants in the back.. * staff had a very 'couldnt care less' attitude
The room is basic with hot and cold shower and television (but features only local channel and AXN)....the best feature is the location - so close to the restaurants, Seven eleven and waterfront....its near the corner of Jl Borneo and Tunku Abdul Rahman which means its halfway between McDonalds/Cat Monument/Sarawak Plaza and Jalan Main Bazaar/Padang Merdeka/Square Tower...they are all strolling distance...but my unpleasant experience was that the receptionist assigned early morning did not return my deposit money (MYR 40) because according to him I need to present my hotel payment receipt which unfortunately did not reflect my deposit payment..I need an explanation regarding this
I stay at this hotel only for one night. The room was clean and a bit small. If you travel with a big luggage you need to book A big room. Only the room is the bathroom. It was so smelly and i think the smell comes from the floor. The aircond was cool and the bed was comfy. What you pay it was you get. Normal 3 star hotel. This hotel also near to the kuching river.
The hotel is located in the centre of the city which you can go to interesting places (such as waterfront, museum, shopping centre) within walking distance. The price includes free air conditioner, wi-fi, towels and toiletries (bar soap and shampoo). The beds were comfortable. I am lucky as I got a room with good shower room and clean toilet (compare to my previous experience with Tune Hotel in KLIA2). The room that I booked is small but good enough to perform salah (solat). No prayer mat (sejadah) was provided, so please bring your own praying gear. I encountered with minor issue with the room at the very first I opened the door, but with the help of the hotel crew, it was solved in less than a minute. Bear in mind that the hotel did not provide parking space. For anyone who travel by your own car, you have to parked on your own risk just near the hotel.
Location: the location quite strategic just 3 mins from the waterfront area. Transport: transport to Tune hotel Kuching available in Kuching airport counter with a fare of RM10 while from Kuching back to airport one way cost RM8. The price quite reasonable Room: Room size is adequate enough for two person move around easily, tv with Astro, wifi works well and toilet just ok as there are stains not easily being removed. Bed as usual so comfortable like 4 start hotel bed, aircon a bit noisy as the cover of the aircon keep coming out and vibration caused the noise Summary, not bad for two nights stay or just to look for a place to sleep and walk around Kuching town
Let's start with the smoking issue. Even though it is considered a non-smoking hotel; people still smoke either in the rooms or corridor, not sure, but we can smell it. I arrived a Thursday night from KL. First things first, their card system did not work, so I had to go down with my bags to inform them then go up waiting for the maintenance guy to reset the take with his special card so UI can use my card to activate the aircond and the light. I went then outside to get some food and Oh my it took so long to settle dinner as it was holidays mood and people really go out to eat by the waterfront and all the restaurants were full plus service was slow (nothing to do with the hotel). I came back around midnight and noticed in the room that there was a water leak from the plaster ceiling in the room. I went down and explained to the lady at the reception; she immediately replied, ok I will be sending someone to repair it (at midnight??!!). I rejected her idea and requested for a new room. I explained that I would be in the room while waiting for someone to send me the new key/card. I waited roughly 20 minutes and no one came up. I was really tired and upset at that point. I went down from my room 2xx to the reception. 3 of them were waiting for me with angry faces (??). The lady then told me: "Why did you should at our staff ??!! We thought you did not want to change the room" - (I cannot describe the enigmatic feeling that hit my head then)... I said : Sorry ??!!, she then replied again why did you shout at our staff when he came and knocked at your room door?? I replied; how did I shout at he person knocking at the door if room door was open? The 2 other staff were looking at me as if I had really done it. She then added: yes the staff went to your room; room 1xx and when he knocked at the door to give you the key? I then understood that the staff went one floor lower than mine and woke up a guest who was very upset... At that point, I was really upset and requested for a refund which I never received. The new room was better but very noisy, I could not sleep. Next day I found under my door an apology letter with free breakfast which I have returned to the desk. Tan Sri, you should really stay in Tune hotels from time to time to have a taste of the service. really. Would I stay here again? No, not at all. this was my second and last time. I would stick to my usual budget in the future.
