We only stayed two nights but enjoyed our stay. Great location. Right across from the famous Cat Statue. Being beside the river we had a river view which was great. Rom was very good We preferred this hotel to its sister across the road, where we stayed on return to Kuching, which wasn't bad either, just preferred this one. We found it very clean. Enjoyed the swimming pool and found staff very attentive and professional. While the air con was rather cold, we could control it from within the room so not really an issue. It may well have been otherwise, as my partner is allergic to air con too cold while I rather enjoy it. The building does look a little 'seen better times from the outside' or needs renovation from appearance, but inside everything was fine more than fine rather good in fact. Perfect location to promenade along the lovely Kuching water front night or day, without the need to cross any roads.
We booked 13 nights at this hotel. The first day we arrived, even though we new the room was not available til 2 they went out of their way to get us a room quickly. They had a room for us within 20 minutes. Room 304 overlooking the cat statue, clean and large enough and nicely appointed with everything working. Breakfast was included and they had plenty of choice, cereals toast omlettes eggs any way you want. Beef sausage chicken sausage beef slices in place of bacon, cheeses meats as well as local dishes. They will cook most things just ask at the cooking station. The hotel inside is very clean well set up and the staff are all superb they cannot do enough for you. The pool area is well kept and the sun beds are comfortable with towels always available. The bar is brilliant with quick staff and happy hour 6 to 9 each evening and an in house group. The views over the river are super especially at night and the hotel is close to 3 shopping malls and loads of cafes bars and restuataunts and other hotels. We really enjoyed our stay and we would use again. The only issue we could find was mo ey changing, we tried to change some british money to MYR but we were told that they only take £50 notes? ( i have lived in the UK all my life and only ever had a few £50 notes ) it was not a big issue as there are a few money changers close by. So to close do not be put off it is clean and tidy with great staff. The tired look is just the outside paint. It never bothered us. Thank you Grand Margharitta.
The hotel rooms already been renovated and the room is clean dan nice. lication next to her sister the riverside majestic. you will have one swimming pool beside the sarawak river. The air conditioner very cool and bed is very big
After reading some reviews, so took note of it when making reservation. In the end, the room is good, big & air con very cold even set low at 24deg C. The worst is some pillows are really smelly, but they do changed them if you highlight it. House keeping very very slow, can take more than 1hour, more than 3 calls to get your items. Certain toiletries like toothbrush need to call house keeping, then they send to your room. If you don't need to call them, everything else should be ok.
The hotel is dated. Thankfully some touch up has been done to the rooms. Overall clean though u can make out some occassional stains on the chair n curtains. Conveniently located along the river side. There is a 7 elevn nearby though the malls beside it are quite sad n empty. The gym is well equipped. Given the overall amount i paid ... about 50sgd per night still decent value for money
Stayed in Executive Room with lounge access. Room is not spacious, but, worth the amount i pay. Not no much varieties at lounge, but the food taste good. Can enjoy the river view from lounge. Breakfast also nice. Location, near to town. Walking distance to Topspot to enjoy seafood at cheap price.
We booked two rooms last minute here as it was a last minute plan between my family. The place was good, lobby was decent and the lounge was cozy. However, most of the downsides were the rooms we booked. We booked 2 adjoining rooms during our stay and here’s what we managed to compare between the 2 rooms: in the room I shared with my girlfriend, everything was ok except for a couple of things. - the smell in our bathroom smelled like bad body odour that wouldn’t go away - there was this hole cover in the ceiling at the entrance of our room that was bugging us a lot as the cover was loose and we could actually just push it open, not appealing at all - some switches weren’t working and our lamp was not functioning - missing items include a tea spoon and missing bedroom slippers - our telephone didn’t seem to work which made it harder for us to contact reception and housekeeping Next, when we looked at the next room we booked for our family, we found these: - the entire room smelled like smelly feet and the bathroom also smelled like bad body odour - missing items include a missing cushion, missing bath robes, missing box of tissues in the bathroom and a missing battery cover for the tv remote (this was a bit unprofessional to me) - some switches don’t work But really, we just didn’t like how poorly scented our rooms were because the moment we stepped into the rooms the smell was rather disturbing. We were expecting them to smell fresh since we knew that housekeeping had already cleaned it up before our arrival but instead we were greeted with body odour and smelly feet the moment we came into our rooms for the first time. The bad smell even overpowered our bath soap when showering and that’s how bad it was. Hopefully management can highlight this matter to their staff. We wouldn’t mind coming back but hopefully the next time we book a stay here, the rooms will be improved.
Do not be put off by the exterior because hotel probably needs a new lick of paint. Step inside and you will be pleasantly surprised by its cleanliness and friendly staff. Room is clean n comfortable and breakfast above average. Pool is a little exposed being on the ground floor. Every member of staff we came across has been helpful and pleasant.
In desperate need of a facial from the outside, which is off-putting on arrival. The hotel is centrally located in the city along the river walk. The room was a good size and the bathroom had a tub and shower. A good Asian breakfast buffet but limited for western tastes. I ran into a problem during Ramadan. I decided to eat at the hotel restaurant the second night of my stay, since I needed to pack for the morning. The restaurant was all booked and was told I could only eat in the Chinese restaurant. The restaurant is set up only for large groups; I was the only one there; and I was told I had to have a portion for four. Since it is very pricey, I ended up just ordering Pineapple fried rice, which was tasty. I made the mistake of not immediately contacting the manager. It was very uncomfortable, I finally did and he charged me for dinner for one and told me I could have eaten in the bar off the regular menu. That did not leave a good taste at all. I had a room with a view of the river but in addition, there were also outside lights right outside the window that I could not turn off so I could not fall asleep until the lights went off. The room was also very cold, even when I turned off the a/c. Like the first place I stayed in Kuala Lumpur, the bathroom could have been cleaner. I would not recommend this hotel since there are many other choices.
stay for 4 nights, booked 2 rooms with breakfast. Fast check-in, friendly staffs. all the things that I asked were granted ( connecting rooms, twin beds, riverview ). best breakfast. They have BEST Mie Kolok. Fantastic. spacious room, welcome drink, soap, shampoo, clean towels, clean bed sheets. overall everything was perfect. the cat statue just in front of the hotel.
