Grand Margherita Hotel

Taxi from airport to hotel was RM30 and took about 15 minutes. Hotel is a low-rise building with 2 wings. It did look a bit run down and could do with some sprucing up. My room was not ready when I checked in at about 3 pm but it was not a big deal to me as I was going out anyway. The receptionist was apologetic and kept my bag while I was away for a while. For my wing, one lift was not working and that left only one working lift which was hardly adequate for guests’ needs. My room was spacious and overlooked the pool. Not sure if it was due to the rainy weather but I found it cold throughout even with the air-conditioner turned off. The toiletries were adequate although no toothbrush set was supplied. I did not dine in the hotel as there were plenty of eateries in the vicinity. A shopping arcade was located just next to the hotel, and there was another across the road. Within walking distance were KFC and McDonalds. Slightly further away was Chinatown with many old and new eating joints. Visited the hotel lobby lounge which had happy hours (1 for 1) from 4 pm to 9 pm. Good place to chill, listen to music and watch live football on TV. Overall, this hotel was conveniently located, and worth the price although a tad old.

I stayed there from 11th-13th of this month. I actually wanted to stay at Riverview Majestic Hotel but was not available due to activity like Kuching Parade in conjunction to this month's celebration of Malaysian National Date on 31st. See photo. So they offer me Grand Margherita, their sister company with upgrading to Suite & breakfast. The hotel is across the road from Riverview Majestic sitting right on the bank of Kuching River. The view of the river is fabulous, day or night. See photo. From the lobby to the Check-in counter, there's the missing welcoming smile nor warmth. Check-in counter staff works like robot. Next the Housekeeping. They forgot to replace my bathroom floor mat but took away the wet one. Have to call to replace. Very fast & efficient replacement though. Fruits eaten not replace & the tea table not cleaned. I purposely took away a pen on the night table beside the bed, also not replaced. It looks like they only clean where necessary but do not check after so call cleaning the room overall even Suite. Now Room Service. I called to check the availability of after midnight dining in the room. I was told by the one who answer room service it's not available as the cafe close at 11pm. There's also a shopping mall Sarawak Plaza link to the hotel beside it. The hotel is a smoke free. It has more amenities as compared to Riverview Majestic not to mention it's also more posh. The atmosphere here looks more sober but posh. I would also like to salute Encik Jasmin Azura By Mohd Noraliff for his excellent service. When I wrote to your website Booking, no response. Then I wrote to Jasmin, he immediate responded. Explaining why Riverview was not available & offered Grand Margherita with upgrade. The moment I confirmed he replied. Thank you once again. I 😍 Kuching.

Ideally located on the river front the main attraction of Kuching. Room size is good and hotel premises maintained nicely. Though first linens looked smoking fresh but next day the one they changed seems to have got stains. However washroom were clean. Breakfast served got variety and nicely presented. However Wi-Fi was absolutely bad. It doesn't go with the 5 start standard the hotel claims for itself.

Like it for the best river view and conveniently located within the city. Breakfast was good, Room was good and clean with ample of space in the room. The bed was comfortable with a good sleep , A/C was cold enough for me

We got early check in without extra charges. Great location. Near to Top Spot Seafood. At the river bank Clean and newly refurbish. But exterior very rundown. good breakfast spread and main menu change daily. very polite and attentive staffs.

Stayed here for a night. If you are a tourist visiting Kuching, the location of the hotel is ideal. Water front, shops, malls and eateries are all withing walking distance. Hotel lobby clean and nice but looks like its from another era. Front desk staff were polite and efficient. I was given a room on the first floor. The corridors and the room itself looks really nice (i think it just got refurbished) and tastefully decorated. However on closer inspection, you will realise this place dont quite lift up to its 5 star status. On the curtains there were large dark brown stains. Looking out of the window there is a balcony or sort where the air cond external units were installed. The area around the balcony was dirty and full of mold. Not a sight you are looking for when you are looking out of your room's window. Pillows provided in the room also had stains. Needless to say, i didn't dare use the said pillows. The bed felt old and springy with a comfort level 5/10. Air cond was great. Water pressure in the bathroom was good. No problem there.

I stayed in this hotel based on the review but I was disappointed. I have stayed here before in the past and at that time this hotel was impressive and breakfast was amazing and sumptuous. The good part about this hotel, it's close to McDonald, KFC, Pizza Hut, 7 Eleven etc. Staff at the reception are friendly and polite. Despite that the room have been refurbished, it doesn't feel like it's new. Bed sheet and the pillows looks "gloomy", found ants inside tissue box and toilet. The bath tub wasn't clean either and small. The rubber mat inside the bathroom is smelly, my suggestion just remove it. Skipped breakfast on the 2nd day because it wasn't nice and limited choice. The staff working at the restaurant not that friendly compared to reception.

We were staying in Deluxe room with river view for RM188/night. This hotel is attached to Sarawak Plaza and within walkin distance to many attractions. TV channels are very limited. Slow WiFi in our room and limited parking but breakfast was awesome, plenty of food and tasty. Hotel provides shuttle service to SCV as well as Semenggoh Wildlife but the rate is much higher than what stated on their website. RM40 for return trip per person to SCV instead of RM20 as on their website. RM80/person to Semenggoh Wildlife together with the entrance is way too much compared to the actual cost we spend to Semenggoh for only RM4 for K6 bus and RM5 for the entrance. Other than that everything is great and I love this hotel. I'm sure I'll be staying here again if I go back to Kuching next time.

This was a very nice hotel to stay in, when we had seen the outside of the hotel we was a bit sceptical as to what it would be like inside but we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were nice as well as the bar and the pool area (we never tried the restaurant) On one night we have extremely noisy neighbours keeping us up past 4 in the morning we spoke to the reception in the morning and they moved us room straight away so this was very efficient of them. We also stayed in the executive room for a couple of nights with this they provide access to the executive lounge which was a nice change and had good food included. Overall this was a good hotel in a good location would highly recommend.

We were lucky to get a great price on booking (with no extra charge for the kids), we stayed in a double twin room, plenty of space for 5 of us. The room was clean and we had a great view of the river. The only complaint is the additional charge for breakfast. Even if the room is for 4 persons, only two have breakfast included, for the rest its 24 RM per person extra. So it was actually cheaper for us to go out of the hotel and had local breakfast for less money. The kids loved the pool and we liked direct access to the Kuching Walterfront and nearby shopping mall.
