The sand on the beach was so fine, and it is crystal clear water and shallow water... fantastic! Service was fantastic! Everyone should try the Iban's bamboo chicken dish at the restaurant :) Rooms might need to be a little cleaner, especially the air conditioner seems to be a little dusty.
Dear travellers, If you are looking for a fantastic resort with incredible views, terrific food, and easy access to the sea, look no further. This resort is really two resorts, one that is closer to the beach and more family oriented one and another on the hilltop. The hilltop villas are absolutely stunning; a similar Villa would go for 10 times the amount in Hawaii. You have a 180 degree views from your from, the balcony, and your first floor Terrace. You can clearly see the mountains, to the beach, to the sea. The suites are incredibly spacious and have a great deal of privacy. Lastly, the food is absolutely terrific. With a wide ranging breakfast menu that is included, and a fairly delicious lunch /dinner menu it is very satisfying. The food director Mr Tali is a remarkable man, who tries to meet the needs of every guest, and certainly made a very endearing impression on us. I would highly recommend staying at this resort, we certainly are looking forward to returning next year.
From the time we set foot in the foyer, which is very clean and big, and we checked out 4days later, the experiences were excellent. The restaurant served fresh and delicious food, breakfast buffet was terrific in options, again fresh and plentiful. The choice between swimming pool which by the way was clean and big, to the easy access to the beach, everything was spot on.
I've no idea how old this hotel is, but you can tell it has once been quite amazing. However, the hotel rooms and communal areas are in dire need of maintenance and updating. The towels and bedding had seen better days and the decor was cringe-retro. It's a shame because it wouldn't take much effort for the owners to do this. The pool area is very run down and the sun beds were falling apart! There are several restaurants and bars in the hotel complex, but only one was open and the food was beyond vile. I have never experienced such poor catering. Saying that, the breakfast buffet was reasonable. There is access to wifi in the hotel lobby only, which is also intermittent, so that was disappointing. The on site shop was opened for an hour in the four days we were there. The hotel staff are friendly and polite. There is a beautiful secluded beach as well.
The resort has a nice beach and the rooms look nice enough. We experienced some difficulty when checking in and were asked to sit down and wait while the staffmember checked with another staffmember. After a while we could go to our room. Our luggage was not delivered and after some time we went to collect our bags ourselves from the place we left them. That seemed faster than waiting for the staff to sort it out. Other than that we had a good time, but we woulnd't choose it a second time. We don't care about having to wait or things not working properly because we are used to backpackers-guesthouses, but when a place claims to be a four star-accomodation, we expect a bit better service.
This hotel is under rated. It has a nice pool and clean beach front. the rooms are clean and with lots of amenities. It is about 1 hour drive (RM70 by airport taxi) from Kuching Airport. You can walk to the Sarawak Cultural Village within 5 minutes. The hotel service is top notch and 2nd to none. The breakfast is good with local and western spread. Recommended to try this hotel.
The resort is a nice place to go to if you're looking for a relaxing moment. Located just beside Suntubong National Park and Sarawak Cultural Village making it a great place to stay. My family and I really enjoyed our stay with Damai Beach Resort.
Great resort with numerous room selections and price points. Handy for attending the annual Rainforest World Music Festival or cultural village. Excellent breakfasts (ate out for other meals) and great room (11 block). Shower over the bath not so easy to get into for short people like me!
Good location for visiting Sarawak culture village , hiking in mount Santubong and water fall nearby .Nice Swimming pools for kids and relax with good sea view. For those people stay at city with young kids, love natural , beach , waterfall and hiking can feel will enjoy.
The hilltop hotel room was nice, great location for a great view of the beach and sea. The pool at the hilltop is wonderful, and offers a great place to relax with a great view. The fact that one has to travel by shuttle bus up and down is not really an issue, the drivers are very friendly and helpful. The room itself is a bit old, but well kept. Only the bathroom is not as well kept (shower curtain needs a new one, and the shower head requires a better fitting one). There were ants in the room, minimally, so have to be careful if placing food items. (#1204) Breakfast is average, somehow lesser than expected for such a hotel. My only peeve is that the staff at the pool on the hilltop did not allow entry to the swimming pool if one is not dressed accordingly. That is fine and quite admirable. However, the following morning, I saw other people using T-shirts and tight pants who went into the pool near the beach, and also a lady wearing what looks like a bra with short pants. Nobody told them they couldn't swim in the pool, so that feels wrong somehow (as if there is a double standard involved). Other than that, it was a nice and wonderful experience.
