Good place for few nights at Kowloon. All you need in good location, very helpful staff
Our stay was pleasant and comfortable. Basic but modern amenities. location is cery near Nathan road and Holiday Inn.
will come again . location was good. will recommend it to my friends
The Good: 1.) Great shower 2.) Friendly staff 3.) Room size is good for Hong Kong standards 4.) Efficient and quiet room air conditioning 5.) Nice clean beddings The Bad: 1.) Bed is hard as a brick 2.) Pillows were not supportive-collapses when weighed on 3.) Toilet emits sewer odor when flushed The Ugly: 1.) Toilet stopped working the morning of our checkout day.
Couldn't get a late check out. They were going to charge me 80% of the [...] rate to sleep three more hours. Internet didn't work. Even technician couldn't get it to work. No true shuttle. I booked based on "Airport Shuttle" icon and they don't have a shuttle. Not a free shuttle. It cost 130 HKD on way. I had to wait an hour to get on it and wait an hour as Minden was last stop. Two hours for 130HKD. It was already a 26 hour travel day before the shuttle. And they wouldn't let me sleep another two hours. Ridiculous! Shuttle back had to be booked 24 hours in advance but there was no mention of that [...] Overall - if you can really get a free shuttle with Holiday Inn and pay $20 more - it's better paying for the room at the Holiday Inn.
Hotel is OK and offers excellent value-for-money. Everything is there, in a super location in KowLoon. Rooms are compact. The only drawback is that the bed is quite firm, tatami-firm. So if you want a soft mattrass this is not for you. Rooms are homely brown-and-beige.
I like to stay at boutique hotels that give you a flavor of the country, though having to give up some amenities such as a gym or business center. Walking into the Minden, in downtown Kowloon, one is teased that this fits the bill: tasteful Asian antiques in the lobby, an elegant blend of antique wood, lacquer ware and glass. Pleasant front desk, painless check-in. Then a ride up to the 16th floor in a slightly under-lit elevator. And the room is a sterile little white box with furniture half-a-step up from Ikea. It was clean and functional, which is good. But absolutely no decor. So, The Minden gets good marks for clean, functional and cheap. It just doesn't make it as a hotel differentiated from any of the hundreds of other hotels in Hong Kong. I'd rather stay at a big-box hotel and have all the amenities.
