Stayed here for about 5 days and did day trips to various places (hiroshima, miyajima, yamaguchi, osaka). Being literally connected to the Kobe Shinkansen station made the daily excursions extremely easy. Even on rainy days you don't have to worry because the walkway between the two is covered. Furthermore the subway is right under the hotel and you can use that to get around Kobe. There also is a hop-on-hop-off city-bus loop that you can take if you prefer that for sightseeing. The restaurants in the hotel were quite expensive and the quality was sub-par. We tried the chinese restaurant Suzhou which was not all that. Service also was lacking. Breakfast buffet had a large selection but it was exactly the same each and every day, no variations whatsoever. The good news is that the hotel sits atop a mall called Shin Kobe Oriental city which has a plethora of food options so you are not stuck eating at the hotel in a pinch, you can just take the hotel elevator to the B1/B2 level and grab a bite at one of the restaurants there. Only thing to keep in mind is that most of the restaurants there close early, the latest being 9pm. So if you need a late night snack then you are stuck with the hotel room-service and the selection there seems sparse. We tried a bunch of restaurants at that mall but the best one was this Indian restaurant called Namaste Taj Mahal. We were surprised to find such authentic Indian food there. The hotel seems a bit dated, the rooms are clean but everything inside looks old. The only saving grace is of course the convenience and the views from higher floors, if you get a corner room then you pretty much get a 270 degrees view and the night vistas are really spectacular.
Convenient position right next to Shinkansen station , this hotel has good amenities - pool , gym ;and generously sized rooms with nice views . Plentiful breakfast and right next to herb garden , chairlift and waterfall which make it great for a short stay .
Decided to stay here to celebrate both our anniversary and Christmas Eve, and couldn't have been more pleased! While I didn't utilize this feature, the hotel is located conveniently above the Shinkansen (bullet train) station in Kobe! I would definitely suggest this place if you are travelling to Kobe via bullet train as you can simply drop your luggage off and go explore the area! As for the area surrounding the hotel, the plaza itself was fairly inactive, but the area around the hotel is famous for wedding ceremonies. I highly suggest that during the day you explore the nearby Kitano-cho (北野町), where there are many beautiful building of previous foreign diplomat estates and maybe even plan your future wedding ceremony! At night, the hotel is just one subway stop (or 15 minute walk) from the bustling Sannomiya district (downtown Kobe) which offers the best nightlife in Kobe. Sannomiya is the perfect location for those who want to experience true Japanese nightlife without dealing with the overcrowded streets/venues like those in Osaka/Tokyo. As for the hotel, the lobby is absolutely breathtaking. The staff was very friendly and spoke in perfect English. Everything from dropping my bags off to checking out was made easy. The only thing that I believe could be improved would be the rooms. While overall very nice, with very comfortable beds and a gorgeous view, it was slightly uncomfortable due to the fact there was no modern style air conditioner. Being winter, the only option was for heat and the rooms were actually too hot to begin with. This was as I said slightly inconvenient. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend this place to our friends and family when they visit Kobe!
I had the opportunity to stay at the Crowne Plaza ANA Kobe hotel towards the end of December 2017 and I must say I was happily satisfied with the overall experience of the hotel and its facilities. Just steps away from the most convenient way to arrive in Kobe, the Shin Kobe Shinkansen Station, the Crowne Plaza was known to me for many years, as I often travel to Kobe, where I had lived for decades. This hotel must be the most accessible hotel in the city. Restaurants were aplenty and the staff at the Crowne Plaza Kobe are just the most professional yet most attentive and courteous you can come across. Whether it be the hard working staff from housekeeping or the ever-smiling people at the front desk or the busy concierge team..not one member of this hotel's staff were always focused on making sure every guest's visit was well attended to. I moved rooms once during my stay and both rooms were very well maintained and clean, and well equipped. The only downside of my stay was the shopping arcade below the hotel was barely occupied and that took some life out of the possible energy the entire complex could be generating - but that's a matter for an entirely other management to look into. I would recommend Crowne Plaza ANA Kobe at a heartbeat to any one who wants to have a good stay in Kobe, any time!
To be honest, would have rated the place good (between an average and very good). The room may look a little dated but it is clean and spacious which is a plus. And we had the room with a city view which looks pretty at sunset and at night. The only down side was what many has mentioned, centrally controlled temperature which makes the room pretty warm to sleep in. The other thing is the transport connection. As it is a station from Sannomiya station where the action is and the connector to other parts of towns or city, we have to take a ride out each time which adds up. Would be a convenient location if one drives.
I have heard that this hotel used to be very hip but everything about the hotel and the plaza that it sits in says that it is long past its prime. The plaza is dead, in an inactive locale, the hotel shows its age...from its common areas to its eateries to its rooms. in fairness, the staff are good, the rooms are clean and the food is ok but the energy and feel of this place says it is living in the past. the pool needs an additional fee and staying around shin kobe is not useful. thank you
Fourth stay at the hotel and it continues to live up to expectations. The club lounge is good value for money. However, the restaurants are expensive, even by Japanese standards. There are plenty of good restaurants around the vicinity of the hotel and i would recommend using these.
Nestled on the edge of the mountains of Kobe, the view from the room was lovely, but the hotel itself is quite mediocre. There are no temperature controls in the room, so most people are likely to be uncomfortable with the setting determined by the hotel. The room layout is poor and the breakfast buffet is surprisingly low quality for a Crowne Plaza. The location is convenient for Kobe City tourism, but I cannot recommend this hotel.
I have been visiting every few years over 30 years now, and I love the Kobe scenery and Motomarchi. While the hotel gets a bit more dated, they keep up with refurbishing, and have the friendliest hotel staff you can get. Never too much trouble. We upgraded to the executive level, and it was very reasonably priced. The evening wines, view, and canapés were about as good as it gets. The breakfast served at level 37 was absolutely brilliant. Ms Egg cooked the perfect egg, and even brought them to the table. Nothing too much trouble for any of the staff. Best thing is we arrived at about noon and they gave us the room as it was ready, no wait until 3 pm because that’s the rule. This hotel always delivers. Very useful if you have JR pass to use as a base for visiting Himeji, Kyoto, or Osaka, as next to Shinkansen and far cheaper to stay at than other cities.
This crown plaza is not as good as the ones you can find in others cities. However, it is probably the best hotel in Kobe . The hotel is a little bit old and the room’s bathroom out of style. However , this hotel has few strong points such as big rooms for Japan , cleanness and a good location , really close to shin kobe station. You can easily get downstairs , cross the bridge and take a Shinkansen to travel around Japan. Special mention for their breakfast which is one of the best hotel breakfast I had. Try their pumpkin soup and Japanese mustard spinach smoothie!
