There are not a ton of options in Geneseo. This place was adequate. The woman at the front desk was terribly rude and acted upset that we interrupted her reading a book. She got a lot nicer when I took a business card and mentioned seeing the hotel on Trip Advisor. Why yes- I do provide reviews! The room was fine and clean- no bed bug activity. However, I was rather disturbed by the group of 3 or 4 men who were hanging out at the back door smoking and drinking. Like it was their own backyard or something. If I had been a woman traveling alone I would not have like it. It felt like running the gauntlet. Fortunately my husband was with me. These men were not rude in any way, just intimidating at 9:00pm when they overwhelm the entrance we needed to use to get through the door to our room, and I didn't love walking through their cigarette smoke. I would have complained to the front desk, but what was the point?
The rooms are ridden with bedbugs! The owner and staff are not friendly at all and will do nothing to make your stay enjoyable. It's unfortunate that such rude people have to be the face of this hotel chain. I definitely would not recommend staying at this motel.
Front desk staff was unfriendly and not very welcoming when we arrived. The first room we were given had black mold on the bathroom wall. When we returned to the front desk there was no apology, just a "let's try another one". Tried another room, but we were no longer comfortable staying there with 2 young children in a hotel that was not the cleanest and smelled very musty. When we said we wanted to check out there was no effort made to make it right or apologize.
There's only a couple of hotel choices in this town. There are not much choices past this point heading east unless you want to drive another 25 miles. This hotel is decent, reasonable, and honestly, good enough for the night. It was quiet and a bit distant from the freeway. Arriving at night, the rundown dilapidated building across the street made the street look somewhat sketchy and questionable. But no worries... the parking lot is well lit and also the owner or resident manager lives by the hotel entrance. It's actually a quaint town. Inside, our appointed room was nice, clean, and comfortable. A noticeable renovation or recent updating have occurred. The showerhead though (calcium buildup) needs to be replaced or dipped in SLR. The lobby smelled like food/curry. Breakfast offering is very basic carbs, good enough to get you started on the road. Night desk clerk could be a bit more courteous & friendly. Overall, its fine.
my cousin and her husband like to come out from the Chicago suburbs and explore the local towns with us. They booked this hotel because it was close to everything, good price and frankly, the casinos that we wanted to stay at were all booked. She is quite fussy when it comes to the hotels she stays at and she was impressed. It has been updated (recently I would assume). It was very clean, had a nice pool but we were too tired to use it after exploring all day, microwave & refrigerator. Free breakfast was the typical choices that most hotels have and everything was well stocked. The clerks and cleaning ladies were very cordial and pleasant. My husband and I don't live far so we couldn't see the point in staying overnight but we honestly enjoyed a little time away. My only complaint would be with the room set up. I prefer the sink and toilet to be in the same room. The sink was outside of the bathroom. The coffee pot was on the counter by the sink making it difficult to wash, do hair, shave etc with the coffee pot in the way, Not many other outlets to move it to. But that had nothing to do with the comfort of the room and the hotel in general, just one of my quirks. I'd go back again.
We stopped here overnight our trip north from Florida. Our rooms were sufficient for our needs for 1 night, nothing fancy but very clean. We booked 2 rooms and all in our party were satisfied. Anne at the front desk was very helpful and accommodating. We had booked online earlier so just wanted a quick dinner and rest. She recommended Danny Boys across the street and we LOVED it. Just a quick salad and pizza but fresh and good. Hotel breakfast was the usual waffles, cereal, etc. This hotel is dog pet friendly so be aware if you have allergies.
Me and my family were staying here for a night for my sisters birthday. We rented a room with two beds for one night and when we got our room key and went to our room there was only one so we went back to the front desk where we explained what happened and we got the correct room. Then later that night the owner showed up and called us thieves and white trash and called the cops and made us leave even after we said we would pay for the upgraded room (which we already paid for online) so thank you for ruining my sisters 13th birthday.
conveniently located close to Moline, IL relatively easy access to Interstate 80 So so breakfast buffet Breakfast refrigerator was not at an appropriate value(50 degrees F) - when called to management's attention, thermometer was removed and no adjustments made to thermostat at that time - still no thermometer at breakfast the next day
Nice quiet town. Only a hand full of restaurants but enough variety. Several nice antique malls within five minute walk. This is my 6 time staying at this motel. The managers set the right friendly helpful tone with an attention to detail that shows their pride in doing a great job .
Bottom Line Up Front: Ok, if you don't care much and wanted a decently clean to stay overnight. If you're traveling with a family pass on this place. Check out the local Best Western or keep driving to Galesburg. My family and I stopped at Americas Best Value for one night while in while traveling cross country. Based on comments and reviews it looked like a solid, recently remodeled hotel, at the right price. The hotel had a pool, which was a must as we had to wear out kids that were cooped up in a car all day. The hotel seemed decent upon arrival. You could see some evidence of a remodel. The room was clean enough, but there was a strong smell of cleaner upon entering the room. The towels provided were smaller than expected and very thin. The hallway subflooring must not be very well insulated as you can hear everyone who walks down the hallway(very loud/hollow sound). So after not being thoroughly impressed initially, we thought "well, at least there is a pool." Wrong. Pool had been down for a few days and would likely be down for a few more (no exact date). That would have been great information to have when making my reservation. I was further disappointed when I was rebuffed when I requested minor compensation in the form of an additional 10% off due to the pool inconvenience. I was told by the employee on duty that it couldn't be done. Having worked in hospitality I know for a fact that it can be done, but he just didn't want to. I will not be returning to this establishment.
