We spent a week at this condo resort. The condo was gorgeous. We had everything we needed for the week. We were on the ground floor with a lanai that overlooked the golf course and the ocean beyond. The view was stunning. The only thing we had an issue with was that other guests walked through our space to get to the water. We spoke to the mgmt about putting up a sign to stop people from entering. Hopefully they will for future guests.
We paid a premium rate to rent B208 for Christmas week 2018. Having stayed at ML Point many times over the years, we were familiar with the privacy and lovely landscaping of the complex. We rented from a local real estate agency, not from Classic Resorts, and that probably was a mistake. Nothing in the ad or the photos of the unit prepared us for a large (maybe 5' x 6') opening in the wall between the great room and the master bedroom. No window coverings, no shutters, nothing to mitigate sound or sight. When I asked the agent if it would be possible to rig up something to close off the space, she responded, "I'll see what I can do." What she could do was....nothing. The twin beds in the 2nd bedroom were on rollers (!), so while perhaps making it easier for the housekeepers, they made it really tricky to sit on the bed to put shoes on. In addition, the caption under the photo of this bedroom in the agency's ad indicated that the beds could be moved together to form a king. However, when we requested that be done, the agent denied it was possible, denied that the caption existed, and apparently had it deleted. The final insult was a plugged-up toilet. I confess that I assumed that paying $800+/night might entitle us to a professional plumber to resolve the problem, but no: The agent simply texted "There is a plunger in the laundry closet." My advice is to proceed cautiously if you are interested in renting this unit. The furnishings are dated but comfortable, the space is good, the kitchen is adequate (but with a convection-only oven without a word of instructions). For the price, it is certainly not a good value even with a great view, and you will find yourself self-managing a whole array of problems that the manager prefers to ignore.
This place was by far the best experience we had for Big Island trip. Beautiful golf course view, Quiet and immaculate maintenance. I have been to all nearby resorts but this was the best. IMO, this is much better than Mauna Kea which supposed to be more luxurious. The best golf course maintenance I have ever seen. Much better than pricier Mauna Kea or other well known courses.
We arrived at Mauna Lani Point on a late Friday night. We were kinda disappointed we didn’t arrive in daylight but our flight in was delayed. It was a dark drive to the resort. We checked in with Abbey at Classic Resorts and she provided us with a smooth and well presented orientation of our resort home for the next 7 days. When we arrived at our unit we were just in awe of the beautiful accommodations we were provided . This unit is beautiful ! The unit was stocked With everything and anything you would need to prepare a gourmet meal. The furniture and bedding were very comfortable and all appliances in working order. The view and grounds are also outstanding as we discovered when we woke up the next morning to birds singing, swaying palm trees and a beautiful ocean view. The double Lani sliding doors open your unit to the outside. The pool area is lovely with many chairs ,a sauna .The area providing grills has a fridge,a double oven microwave sink with garbage disposal . It would be excellent for a party or small gathering. We had daily maid service and the ladies did a wonderful job. We had our first evening meal at the beach club restaurant . The food and service were outstanding. The calamari was the best we have ever eaten. The beach area was very clean and had many lounge chaises. To our surprise the snorkeling was really good. Other praises go to the farmland market in the shops area. The employees were so helpful finding items you needed. Also a top notch show was provided to us one evening by a troupe of young performers. We were so impressed with Mauna Lani Point and give our entire experience five stars. Thank you for making our time in Hawaii memorable .
Stayed in a one bedroom condo with an ocean view. Furniture, lighting and fixtures were tired and in need of refreshing as it looked like something from the early 80's. It was clean as housekeeping did a good job. The associated Mauna Lani Point Hotel was closed for renovation so the hotel amenities (pools and restaurants) were not available to the condo guests. Condo pool area was average with no bar service and no view. There is a small private beach available to the condo guests but it is best reached by car.
Booked an Ocean View condo for vacation. Was given a unit (B201) that qualified if you sat on one end of the lanai and looked diagonally across the golf course. Voiced my displeasure and was told there was nothing else available. Next day was shown one (A207) that had the Ocean View I paid for but the unit had seen better days. Since the view was what we wanted chose the replacement unit. Knew going in that the condos were a gamble since the quality is dependent on what the owners put back into the unit. This unit had worn furniture, the bathroom looked original as did the SubZero stainless steel refrigerator which had all pitted shelves. The mattress was a Beautyrest Black top of the line when new. However now was broken down and like sleeping on a marshmallow hammock. On the positive side the unit was clean, Daily housekeeping is included with the cost. Replacing towels, changing sheets every few days, making the bed every day, putting dishware in the washer, vacuuming rugs. Bathroom floors were not cleaned during our stay. Beach towels are provided as well as access to the Beach club if you did not want to leave the property. A207 had coolers and beach chairs (hidden under the bed and did not find til near end). A small pool and barbecue area is located in the center of the property. There is also a stacked clothes washer and dryer for your use in the unit. Initial pack of laundry detergent is provided. Property is managed by Classic Resorts and they did a pretty good job. Did what they could to correct my situation and were helpful in other areas. There is Bellman(?) service to shuttle you around the resort in a van. A shopping center on Mauna Lani property. There are hiking trails on the property and some good locations to see Sunsets. Restaurants on the property and the shopping center as well as The Orchid hotel. Mauna Lani hotel is closed now for renovations but will have additional restaurants when reopening. Mauna Lani was recently purchased by the consortium that owns Pebble Beach. Did not like the drive to get to the unit. Turn off highway and drive into Mauna Lani property, then take third exit off roundabout, then drive to Mauna Lani Point, finally drive to unit with A building being at the end. Seemed like a waste of good time. Would I go back??? Not sure as I would want more info on what condos were available.
Our family of five (2 adults and three teenagers) stayed in a three-bedroom condo, D103, for five nights. It was clean and very spacious, with a nice kitchen and two and half bathrooms. We enjoyed the view from our lanai every morning and evening, which looked out onto the golf course and beyond that, the ocean. The rental included access to parking and the cabanas/beach chairs at the Mauna Lani Beach Club (located on Makaiwa Bay), which was a great spot for us beginner snorkelers. The rental company also provided lots of supplies for the beach (towels, chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, snorkel equipment, cooler) and even a couple of bikes. There is a community barbecue area and a small outdoor pool located right by building D. The Mauna Lani resort area in general seemed quieter when compared to the Waikolea Beach resort area, which is what we were looking for. The only complaints we had was that the condo was not ready when we arrived (the cleaning folks were not aware that we were checking in that day) and that the TV set up was complicated difficult to use.
This was such a nice experience. The one bedroom condo in building B was very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was big and had all the necessary items. The bed was comfortable which ensured a good night's sleep. I love having a washer/dryer as I can pack a bit lighter. The grounds were meticulous and we could see golfers on the course. We were set back a ways, but could still see the ocean. We had an excellent secret snorkeling spot right behind the 15th tee box. And we would walk twice daily along the ocean and around the golf course. The beautiful beach is walkable. It takes about 10 minutes. Some might choose to drive. The shops are also walkable if you're so inclined. Although we drove several times and visited the market and Tommy Bahama cafe. The resort is nice and on the quieter side than Kona. This suits me just fine. We drove to Hilo, Waimea, Hawi and Waikaloa Village. The pool is very nice and private. The kitchen and BBQ area near the pool are great. I may try to get closer to the water next time. We will definitely be back.
Contrary to our experience for a week in a very dated condo on Kauai, a week at Mauna Lani Point was exceptional. The one bedroom ground floor unit was clean, well appointed, spacious, just great. Check in, helpful directions from staff, access to the beach club, etc. made everything easy and pleasant. The beach club us quite small in area and get rather crowded. There are so many other public beach options nearby, however, so one is by no means restricted. Nearby shopping and restaurants offer many choices. Daily cleaning kept the unit fresh and clean. A very enjoyable experience. Happy to return.
I researched a lot of places before picking this one (Thank You Tripadvisor). I didn't even realize that the other hotels I was researching (Mauna Lani and Fairmont Orchid) were all part of the same resort. I am SO glad I decided to stay on the Condo side. If you have teenagers, it's really the only way to go. We had a beautiful 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath condo with H102. The only strange thing about this unit was there are A LOT of mirrors, even in the master bath shower (that was a little weird), but that wouldn't stop me from staying again. There was a grocery store on the resort (still have to drive there) so making use of the kitchen saved us a lot of money. It was so nice having our own washer/dryer too. Our view from the patio was amazing. We witnessed many beautiful sunsets over the ocean during our stay. When you stay in the condos you get a key to the Beach Club. It was very easy to take a short (5 minute) drive to a nice beach to snorkel or just relax. Staying at the resort also gives you access to the other hotel's beaches, but not their pools. The condo pool and spa was nice and quiet, but not particularly close to our unit (about a 5 minute walk). The resort also had 2 petroglyph sites to explore (you have to drive there and then hike in). I planned this trip before the Volcano erupted and was a little nervous heading to the Big Island with all the footage on the news. I was even thinking of cancelling the trip. I'm SO glad I didn't! You wouldn't even know there was an active volcano on the other side of the island. Thanks Mauna Lani Point for a wonderful place to stay!
