Wai'ula'ula at Mauna Kea Resort is right across the road from Mauna Kea Resort. I have been in units and homes and it is a nice, quiet area with still all the amenities of both hotels easily accessible and two golf courses. Check out the Skins Game on Fridays!
the Beach was amazing, pool area very nice. The service was very good and the area of the big island was lovely. There was shopping and restaurants near by if you didn't want to dine in the hotel. The water was very calm, so nice to spend much time in the ocean.
Mauna Kea Resort is an amazing place to stay! We rented a condo, on the golf course, with an ocean view that was awesome. With the condo rental, came 4 free golf passes, (professional course that is absolutely incredible) and the use of the resort itself, (Pool, hotel restaurants, beach, etc.) Had an amazing time!!
Our family of 5 stayed at a Wai' Ula' Ula 3 bedroom / bath unit on our Hawaiian vacation. We LOVED it. The unit was large and very nicely furnished. The gourmet kitchen had every utensil you could possible think of. The large gas grill on the large patio looking out at the Pacific got a lot of use. The grounds were immaculate and the serenity was amazing. We hardly heard anyone else the whole time we were there. This is an excellent place for families to stay as it gives you space to spread out after a long day in the sun or at the volcano. Resort access was included with the unit we rented and we used it an Mauna Kea a lot. Just a great experience and we will definitely be back!
We love to travel to Hawaii and we've always tried to mix up our trips and visit different islands. But my parents got a place in Wai'ula'ula a couple years ago and we've changed our philosophy. We only want to come here now. The condos here are so spacious and immaculately cared for. They've got great views of the golf courses and ocean, yet far from the crowds. And we're jogging distance (less than two miles) from Hapuna Bay beach and the 'home beach, Mauna Kea, is the best beach on the island, in our opinion. This area is far from the crowds of Waikoloa but not so far from some fantastic restaurants and activities.
We stayed 3 weeks at Wai'ual'ula condo-Unit 201B. The unit is in the 2nd door with a gorgeous unobstructed view of Mauna Kea Beach. Open floor plan with all the comforts of home including a covered outdoor lanai with bar-b-q grill and comfy seating for relaxing and enjoying the tropical breezes. Our condo owner had membership rights to the Mauna Kea Resort which made our stay even greater since we had access to both Hotel amenities and were able to setup an account to directly charge any meals or purchases to a House account. Conveniently located to everything along the coast. The owner's manager was like having our personal concierge. The complex is high end gated community, nicely landscaped and beautifully maintained with a small but well equipped fitness center that was in the clubhouse facility that also had a beautiful infinity edge pool and spa with deck lounge chairs for sunning. Excellent choice! Aloha!
No doubt: this is an extroardinary spot. I basicaly liked the overall atmosphere in the hotel. However, We could not stay there for a very long period of time. Everything is nice and the staff is doing their best, however, after a few days one is satisfied with all this. The beach is spectacular, bit at the time we were there, there was not a lot of things going on. Just chilling, little fun.
The property was beauiful! The condo spacious with everything you need to be comfortable. State of the art appliances and nice views of the Hapuna Prince golf course. The pool was very nice and never crowded! The only down side was that you had to drive to the beach. The ocean view is at a bit of a distance over the highway. I do not think you need to purchase the package to use the resort at Mauna Kea. You can park at the public beach spots if you get there before 10 am or use the valet at Mauna Kea. Overall a wonderful trip! Cannot wait to return to the Big Island. Love it there!!
Our unit was J201. 3 BR / 3 Bath. All rooms were very spacious. Open floor plan with plenty of glass to take in the incredible views. Well stocked with all supplies, plenty of linens. Upscale finishes and appliances, including a gas grill on the lanai. Perfect for taking advantage of the bounty of the many farmers markets and fishing trips. Amazing sunset view off the lanai. Very quiet and secure complex. We traveled with a large group and rented 3 different condos in this complex; our unit had the best sunset views. Free wifi had good signal in the living room, but fairly weak in other areas. The complex has a gym and pool area, along with a "community room" complete with full kitchen. Our group reserved this one night and all gathered for a big community meal -- perfect set up. I don't think there was a charge for this, but not 100% sure. It's great to be able to also use the facilities at both Hapuna Beach Prince and Mauna Kea Resort with the convenience of charging privileges. We took regular advantage of the beach lounge chairs, umbrellas, towel service, etc. You can also use the workout facility at the resorts and participate in outdoor yoga classes held at various times. We loved this location and would highly recommend. Mosquitos were quite a problem everywhere -- we went through a lot of DEET (the natural stuff was completely ineffective).
This trip was our third trip to the Big Island and our second trip stay at the condos at Wai'ula'ula. We rented the same unit that we had rented three years ago G202. The best part of this rental is the quick and easy access to the resort beaches, so I recommend get the passes to both. The pluses include, the complex has been very quiet each visit. Our unit being the only one rented out of the four in the building. The second floor units have spectacular sunset views. We used the private, well maintained community pool each day. The condo provides beach towels and beach toys. Free parking close to condo and community pool. We used the access cards to the both hotels daily and loved being able to charge to our account. Haupuna Beach Hotel pool, cabanas, and food service hands down our favorite place. We enjoy the snorkeling and beach view at Mauna Kea beach. Mauna Kea beach feels safer to snorkel and a larger variety of fish were seen from walking in off the beach. The negatives this stay included that our unit showed signs of wear and tear of being a rental. We called about the constant, daily stream of ants on the kitchen granite counter tops, ( they brought ant traps for the floor and counters and said cannot spray because of memorial holiday ), the water never got really hot or really cold from the kitchen faucet, the dishwasher would not clean well so we washed dishes by hand, washing machine belt squeaks, the air conditioning is uneven in the rooms ( request an additional fan for the smaller bedroom ) , my daughter fell into the bath tub ( no anti slip measures in the bottom, plus awkward entry, be careful ) .
