A little loud from bar in the morning. Otherwise great!

Don't have high expectations and it'll be fine. The rooms are old in a not well maintained way. The furniture is charming in that they are all old antiques. And yes, it is loud above the bar. Live music on weekends and people are up late. No AC in rooms and the building gets HOT even when it's pretty cool at night. Window didn't want to stay open so I propped it open with a garbage can. Location is convenient since you can walk to everything. Considering the cost elsewhere this was fine at half the price. Just set a low bar.

A few things about this place: -It's a shared bathroom and the bathroom was not super clean. The shower (shared) had wet towels hanging in it also. - It is above the bar and I stayed on Karaoke night and it was extremely loud! - There are no elevators or people to help you with your luggage. I saw two elderly people struggle to get all of their luggage up to the third floor. So, that is something to think about when booking this place. If you want a place to stumble back to after you have been drinking, this is your place. If you want any sort of peace and quite or something clean... Stay away.

Good for the price

Lodging in Juneau is expensive. This was the more affordable option. Loud nights. Cramped quarters.

Perfect ambience.

Great period hotel with lots of charm. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The bar is an excellent local hangout with charming staff and a place to get the local scoop from the patrons. If your looking for luxury, this probably not your place. But for atmosphere and charm, I loved it. 4.5 star.

Wonderful historic rooms right downtown. Location was excellent but it was the staff that made this a wonderful place to stay. My flight was delayed bringing me in very late. Miranda waited past her shift to allow me to keep my reservation. It’s basic but worth the experience.

Fun place, nice staff. Very authentic Alaskan bar. No elevator and lots of stairs to our room but it was in a back corner, so it was quiet.

Good location. Desk clerk was under the influence of meth. I work in the chemical dependency field and know what I see. Also, half of the bed would not stay on the metal frame and this made it tough to sleep. I informed staff and this person just shrugged his shoulders. Who supervises staff? I will not recommend this place.

Hotel was OK. Issue with shower knob falling off and very hard to turn on and off. Took a day to get it fixed. Then we checked out.

Room came with kitchen which had only a butcher knife, large serving spoon, very small pan , 3 disposable bowls. Had to ask and was delivered 2 paper plates and plastic silverware. Had to ask for glasses and cups. My daughter’s kitchen, (a suite!) had a “full” kitchen which was equipped with only a cheese grater. Room was so hot with no individual temperature control.

The hotel itself is very old (built in 1913) so it does have a lot of character. The hotel inside appears to have multiple updates over the years and yet is pretty outdated. I will not be too hard on the place because of what it is but the place was not very clean. Both inside the hotel itself and the rooms. There were still pieces of garbage in our room and the toilet had not be cleaned either. Gross. We did have a resident mouse in the room that scared us a bit but again, this place is old and that is not to surprising. The gal that checked us in was very nice. She held onto our bags while the room was getting made up and immediately called us when it was ready. Very accommodating. She was definitely a bright spot in the visit. There was an uncomfortable situation where the owner (presumably) got mad at her because she didn't answer the doorbell that we rung when we got there. It was no big deal to us but he made it awkward. As well, the staff (besides the desk gal) were very loud and were always yelling to each other, and played music loudly in the laundry/service area which was located right near our room. That was pretty obnoxious. Anywho, I said I would recommend the place to someone in the review but that someone would have to be OK with these idiosyncrasies. I put a 4 star for the staff and if it weren't for the kind and accommodating desk gal, I would have given it a 1.

Great vintage hotel and nice staff. Located in great location, downtown Jueau, close to the pier and visitor center.

I was warned that this hotel could be dirty, but we had a quite pleasant experience. I think they have done some renovations since the people I talked to at the airport had said. Our room had it's own bathroom (most rooms are communal bathrooms and showers. There are quite a few stairs up to the 3rd floor. The cleaners were very nice. There was no one at the front desk when we were trying to check in. After a few calls they came and assisted us. We had the room with the little loft and it was cozy. The hotel has a lot of character. The bar was a great place to stop when we wanted a drink or to hang out and listen to music. Great bartenders. They were fixing a bathroom when we were there and that was quite loud, but we had a great time nonetheless.

convenient to the airport as I had an early flight out.

In 1913 rooms in hotels were much smaller than by today's standards. Our rooms in back and on the 3rd floor are quieter. thanks for reviewing us Bettye
