Clean room, strategic place. The bathroom is ok in size. It is located at the centre of the city. Overall a nice place to stay but its kinda expensive because of the brand. The breakfast is moderate. Overall good.
1 night stayed at the hotel for business trip. The room is clean but had some odour and got some mark spot at the pillow, towel and curtain. Breakfast menu look slightly variety but tasteless n plain. One of BIG name & Popular Hotel in JB but the staying excitement is moderate
Dear General Manager, Since 2014 my first choice of stay is thistle. I love the rooms, exterior and interior of the hotel and best service by Mr Arnel and Mr Shariff. In my recent stay on 5/8/2017, Saturday was the worst service I have received. Your staff Mr Aliff is the worst Duty Manager I have met in all of my stays in any hotel. He told us there was not any rooms available when it was already 1.10pm. He told us we have to wait for our room and could not tell us how long. I was not happy at this time as it was my 6 months infant birthday we decided to celebrate it at thistle. We requested for high floor, upgrade of room and early check in at 11am and clean rooms. We have already sent an email to Kurtsean and he told us our request have already been put up and it was also confirm over the phone. We assume as usual our request would be confrim as he did not state it is subject to availability and also in our recent stay on 23 june 2017 was confirm too. Mr Aliff the Duty Manager actually argued with us saying he can't do anything as there are no rooms leaving us to standing and waiting at the lobby with our 6 months infant, Ms. Sofia came to assist us with our booking and told us we have to wait atleast 40mins to 1 hours for a room. We were tired of arguing as we have a infant to care for. Mr Aliff showed a unhappy face to me and my baby, he even glared at us. As a Duty Manager he is suppose to welcome guest which he did not at all. We were left standing at the lobby for 15mins, no drinks were serve to us as guests. At this point I did not feel welcome at all. So Mr azami Duty Manager lead us to the lounge to take a sit while waiting. Again no waiter or manager ask if we wanted any complimentary drinks or any drinks to be purchase. Sick of waiting,we called up a waiter While waiting n requested purchase drinks and waited for 1 hour and our room not not ready yet, they promise us 40mins but we waited for an hour no one came to us to apologise for lateness. Ms Sofia mentioned that she will be able to ready a room by 2pm or before that.We urgently needed a room as we need to feed our baby and our baby was already sleepy and we did not have any baby stroller with us, so my husband came up to the counter and ask if our room is ready as it is more then 1 hour which was 2.20pm. Ms. Sofia said "ouh you already receive your key right" which we did not. So she proceeded to give us our key and no upgrade of room is received, only a complimentary executive club and breakfast at executive club which doesn't have any varieties of drinks of any food. So we went ahead to switch to breakfast at fresh. I went to executive club lounge on the next day and was serve by Faleq who also was rude as he told me i could not take any drinks till he check if my room was entitle to. My hubby came to the executive lounge the night before and there were'nt any checking done and the staff who was at the counter did not welcome him but glared at him instead and did not understand the meaning of '"can drinks". Mr faleq told me there is not a reason for me to be angry. He told me i should not be angry in a harsh tone. This is my worst stay by far i was really angry throughout the stay and was not please in any way. I would like to receive a follow up call. Thanks. I would really love to post a bad review on this hotel on the social media as well.
Reception was not to standard. Very slow in service provided. Not friendly. Breakfast was hopeless & very limited choice. Not a good hotel to stay for vegetarians as they do not wish to provide vege menu. Even request vege menu on a group package they're chargeable....nonsenses. No steam & suana facility provided but they introduce private & chargeable no quality of 4* at all. Safe your money for other better hotels in JB.
The toilet abit outdated... The room was clean with huge comfortable bed and bedding... Never tried the pool but the location of the pool does not looked private... Relatively busy hotel with a lot of guests...
Hospitality business requires team effort, for Thistle Johor Bahru, this is where the team needs to improve better. 1) The reception is at bare minimum, 1 staff at most time, even during the peak. I wonder how the team handle larger crowd. Or event with smaller 2-5 guests wanting to check in. 2) No guest service counter. This is one thing seriously lacking for Thistle Johor Bahru. I wanted to find places to eat in the hotel, I could not find anyone in the hotel who was available. 3) The grey in the room is a dull colour and kind of depressing for longer term staying guests, as the colour is not exactly warm enough, neither welcoming 4) Food is great. I had dinner and breakfast at the hotel. Both meals have been pleasantly surprise. 5) Kudos for chef Choy, who is from Ipoh, he makes amazing contact with the guests as well as making his 'special eggs' for the breakfast guests. I was lucky enough to speak to him and he made the eggs with mushroom and cheese. The cheese sort of hold the egg together, like a shape of mini pizza, and the mushroom gives the crunchiness of the eggs. Spectacular chef Choy!
Service: Definitely have improved by leaps and bounds compared to a few years back. Used to frequent this hotel for various business trips. The hotel is definitely attentive to your requests and needs. Even I am surprised at the quick responds. Well done Thistle on this improvement! Infrastructure: It is a dated one. Observed during my stay, there was a leak on my floor near the lift lobby. It was not obvious as the corridor was carpeted and due to the lighting. However I personally found the floor slippery at the lift lobby. The lift lobby is not carpeted but tiled. Upon further inspection, saw the wet carpet near the lift lobby. The room seem to have been spruced up. Definitely look livelier with improved toiletries. The view either to the sea or city are both magnificent for me. During my stay, there were 2 blackouts. Not sure if this is a norm. First one was 3am in the morning. It was not that noticeable as I woke up for a bit and returned to sleep. The second was during checkout, early morning. That was quite an inconvenient and unfortunate, around 6++am as I had an early flight to catch. Overall I think the hotel is improving itself and value for money hotels near the city.
Great to stay at the hotel with a pretty good surrounding. With a nice staff at the club lounge nurliza. And we love the food at the oasiss restaurant. Thank you dear liza for suggested. Will recommend this hotel and hope to see again😉
Me & my family (5 of us) went to JB to attend a wedding and decided to spend a night there. We booked 2 small rooms online but changed to a Deluxe room + extra bed + seaview. I have no regrets coz the room was big, with big "king bed" (actually it was 2 queen beds combined into 1), complete with a living room, a large ensuite bathroom, complete amenities (comb, dental kit, bath & shower gel, body lotion, etc), hair dryer, capsule-type coffee maker (with free CBTL capsules), usual electric kettle, mini bar, safety deposit box, and the best of all; A NICE VIEW OVERLOOKING THE SEA & SINGAPORE! Overall experience: GREAT
A nice hotel in JB. The rooms are comfortable, clean , nice view. The King size bed was huge! Service was attentive. Parking was abit 'unusual' - not sure where to park when we arrived. The hotel is near KFC , the Johor Football club facility and a 24 hours "Mamak" Complimentary breakfast should be standard for all rooms. (We didn't have the option to choose at the agoda booking screen) - We did not get breakfast in our room rate. For the price we paid we felt it was good value for a 5 star hotel. Would recommend and return
