The room is very clean, tidy and bed is superb comfy. Our view from 9th floor is indeed spectacular! Staffs are helpful and friendly. Whatever you need, they are just one call away. 😉 The swimming pool is one of a kind. All in all, we had great time and will come again.
I do again!.Room 930 and breakfast are recommended ok. Want silent quiet tran·quil·i·ty? That is the Thistle Whistle hotel you may want to stay. Whistle my say is really quiet embrace environment. Not like other hotel, it is like a wet market.
I was with a group of events and managed by an easy-going person. I manage a lot for the event hall arrangement seat and everything goes smoothly she manages the event hall very well and is well prepared and the most importantly she is very quick to respond whatever is happening or anything extra needed. That person is - Angelyn Chen Jia Yee Event Assistant thank you for the service you provided 👍
My second visit to this hotel really good value excellent staff and a special mention to Victor who was very friendly and helpful at the lobby. The rooms are a bit dated but have been redecorated and very clean, pool area very good but steps into the pool need too be deeper, I would recommend this hotel and I will definitely stay again.
Short-stay at this old hotel. Located not too far from Johor Bahru town center & CIQ to Singapore. Good WIFI coverage all around the hotel ground. Not walking distance to any of JB highlights, so grab or taxi is still required. Short-walk to KFC and some local restaurants / Mamak during night time. Nearby Sedap Corner restaurant for superb & delicious local food and delicacies, Must Try! Room & Bathroom: The room and bathroom are very clean, but the shower-head is broken. Bed & pillows are too comfy as well for good night sleep. BUT the the interior of the room, bathroom and corridor are a bit old-fashioned looking, out-dated and at some point; creepy. It looks like the hotel has taken over from the previous Hyatt chain-hotel, and just painted over all walls with quite bad workmanship and maintenance. Breakfast & Pool: Free breakfast for 2, and cheap walk-in charge of RM38 / pax. Great selection of food but it was just okay. Pool and Gym are nice and still breath-taking, relaxing. Overall, it's a nice stay but it could be better. There are many new & better 4-5 stars hotels within town-center and having the same high-priced room rate as Thistle. Unfortunately, this hotel not the first people's choice anymore.
Checked in to a basic double room. It was clean. Furnishings were modern and practical. Not too close to the city centre but still easy to get around with Grabcar or Uber. The hotel houses a decently-sized swimming pool and gym. Breakfast was way below expectations.
Was attending a wedding here and arranged to put up for a night due to the distance. Was not impressed by the Front Office when we checked-in. They were more interested and focused on doing paperwork as opposed to paying attention to the actual check-in. The agent was not hospitable at all and tried not to make eye contact. After which, I proceeded to the ground floor toilet which was filthy and not a welcoming site at all. The real let down was the first room we were assigned. The room did not look like it was ready to receive guest with lots of missing items like the iron and ironing board. Also, it clearly had seen better days with the iron shelf broken, the shower's soap holder also broken and the place full of mildew. We initially did not make a fuss as it was only for one night but what was completely not acceptable was that the shower water outlet would not drain out. Thereafter, a trip to the Front Office quickly made good on the situation and it was handled very professionally by Sam, the Front Office Manager. We received an upgrade which was very much appreciated and he even escorted me to visit the room before arranging for the move. The second room (the Club Room) was very comfortable and had good amenities. It really looked like a room that was ready to receive guests. Had a chance to use the gym and it was very well equipped despite the equipment being very aged. The shortcoming was that there were no towels there despite having a basket for used towels and the changing rooms were locked and one used as a store room. The paper cups also smelt real bad as if they had not been used in some time. Overall, there was no Premium feeling here for a 5 star hotel. Had stayed here in the past and was disappointed to see that this hotel has deteriorated to such a state. Looked as though the owner/operators had lost interest in up-keeping the place.
We had a pleasant, comfortable stay at Thistle hotel. Location is not too far from JB CIQ. Service was great and staff were very efficient and friendly. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean, but as many have noted, the bathroom fittings looked a bit worn out. More effort should be put into regular maintenance. The breakfast buffet was o.k. There was a nice big pool, but we didn’t have time to swim. Overall, good value for money for a short getaway.
The room was spacious but very dull and old. We had troublesome with the door, and called the staff more than twice but guess what, after almost 1 hour of waiting, no one is coming to our room to fix the door. The service was very very bad. And for parking area quite far from lobby and access to basement parking. Really not worth the money. I will not return here, nor will I recommend this hotel to anyone
