Just spent 3 nights with my wife at the Grand Hotel! From the minute we checked in till the minute we checked out we had a fantastic stay! Our room had a sea view the bed was extremely comfortable & had all the extras needed! Easy walk into St Helier & free car park! Great selection for breakfast! Try the smoked haddock & kippers! Great spa pool sauna & steam room! Lovely staff a special thank you to Cedric Vitor & lovely Lisa! Would I recommend the Grand! A big yes & would definitely come back!
Went for afternoon tea as a wee treat. Lovely hotel. Had tea in lounge with stunning views looking out over the bay. Tea was lovely. Good variety of sandwiches & cakes. Only negative I have - would have preferred a pot of coffee instead of a cup & having to ask for a refill. Staff polite & friendly.
Room was very big, facilities were great (Gym and Pool specifically), food was great in the morning. The staff were also very friendly and helpful throughout my stay Will definitely return in the future
A few days here over the New Year was exactly what we hoped for - the hotel is friendly despite its size, excellent breakfasts, comfortable rooms - we also had an amazing sea view. The spa was an added bonus. We will certainly be back.
Having seen New Year in each year, at other top hotels here, for the past 4 this, 4 day stay excelled. The luxury of having one's shoes cleaned each night, cannot remember how many decades since I enjoyed this indulgence. The staff were attentive, and they listened and my food was rapid and fine. Could not fault the breakfast with open service up until last day. My one serious complaint which I voiced at the time was being charged for my essential to me daily newspaper. As a Daily Mail reader I could have free copies in reception but for the pleasure of having it in a plastic bag and hanging it on my door was charged the full price. Delivery charge joked the young lady but obviously embarassed by this cumudgeonly policy.
I have stayed here numerous times for one night on business but this was the first time I had stayed for longer (3 nights) and had time to enjoy some of the facilities. The staff were all excellent and incredibly friendly. The Champagne Bar is cosy with nice views of the sea and Elizabeth Castle. The breakfast is also delicious. I was upgraded to the St Aubin Suite which was lovely and the balcony with its stunning views would be ideal. Would definitely return.
Good points first, the staff are great! Carlos and Jose at the front desk were incredibly helpful, chatty and made an effort to engage with the guests - they are a great asset to the hotel! The waitress staff were also very good. Bad point, our room was very "tired", the brown carpet always looked dirty, the bathroom was dirty, grouting in the tiles was cracking, mould underneath the shower screen on the bath, hair (not ours), a "stain" on a new roll of toilet tissue (not ours) and the TV was rubbish. One mirror in the room outside the bathroom and that was inside the wardrobe that you could hardly see in, because the room was dark even with all the lights on. At £199.00 per night, 5 star it definitely was not!! Having said all that, would I go back, maybe with a different room, because the staff were great!
It's a shame this beautiful hotel is let down by such basic problems. Problems with Champagne lounge: - Service is bad. The average waiting time before someone asked what I wanted, was 20-30 minutes. - Service forgets what you want. Please use a pen and paper.. - Cold Food took up to 50 minutes to arrive. - Not enough space, the hotel reserves out a big section of the bar for private clients even at peak times like Christmas, not good for hotel guests. Problems with spa: - Was very busy during the entire stay. At one time there was around 40 people in the swimming pool area tons of kids, hardly relaxing. - One of the "tropical" showers was out-of-service for the entire stay, I would put an ice pool there anyway, would be a good to go with the sauna and steam room. - Small gym, machines that support iPods. - Towel cleanliness is questionable. - Noticeable mould existing on the ceiling of the showers. - No cleaners, just messy everywhere, wet floors with dirt from shoes, all bins were overflowing and smells of feet. Pretty gross. - A few of the lockers just don't work, and a shelf fell down in my locker. Missing a nail. - Seating pads are in desperate need of replacement. Our room was good, super friendly and jolly staff all-around. Management need to spend some money and make this hotel great.
I booked two nights and three days to celebrate my wife's birthday as a surprise. Contacted the hotel their website was very easy to navigate and communication by e-mail was swift and useful. The staff are excellent I would like to especially commend Jose and Madaline but every member of staff work to a very high standard of customer service. We ate in the Victoria Restaurant and the quality of food was beyond our expectations we had Steak which was cooked to perfection and the creme brulee and sorbet were divine. The room was spotless and the little touches of the chocolates and fruit plus the constantly replenished water just added to our satisfaction quotient. We used the Spa,I used the sauna and the steam room, my wife had a massage and facial but again very high standard. If you ask me whether I would stay here again then absolutely.
Stayed over the Christmas period, even though we were not eating and I suppose spending at the Grand wasn’t e were made very welcome. We visit yearly to meet friends and family and have stayed at a number of hotels over the years and all were great but in future the Grand will be our hotel of choice. Our room was at the budget end of the spectrum with frosted glass windows but apart from that was much better than expected considering the price. Staff in all areas were friendly and helpful. Well done.
