Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Beloit2.5 out of 5.0

This Fairfield Inn is a nice, quiet, clean, and comfortable hotel. The breakfast is average when compared to other hotel's free breakfast. There are restaurants close by, with Jersey's being right across the parking lot. The room is comfortable, and the shower is better than most (that is a big thing to me).
Hotel had everything the family, dog and I needed after a day of driving through thunderstorms. Comfortable beds and shower/tub and toilet separate from the sink. Didn't use the pool or fitness center but they are open 24 hours. A very filling free breakfast that started at 6. The hotel is pet friendly with a large walking/relief area available.
We stayed only one night on our way up north. We found the room to be quite comfortable and quiet. Our grandkids enjoyed the indoor pool to work off some energy from driving 11 hours. The free breakfast in the morning was good. Everyone we came in contact with was friendly.
This is your typical Fairfield, although there is some room for improvement. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was okay, I was on the top floor and I suspect the lower floors might be a bit noisy based on what the floor felt like. I was a little unhappy to find that my shampoo bottle was obviously used by some one else and replaced nearly empty. Also it took forever to get hot water in the morning for a shower. It was a little confusing getting to the hotel, it was on a side road off of a main one, and hard to access it because U turns not allowed in the area. Parking lot smelled like fried tortilla chips for some odd reason! I felt it was a bit overpriced for what it was. Other than that it was adequate for one night for a work trip.
It was 1 am and we needed some where to sleep, so we stopped here. The from desk woman, was helpful and got us a room. We got a good night sleep and enjoyed good breakfast. The free breakfast was good. As far as room goes, this room is what you find at your typical Fairfield.
I stayed at this Fairfield while in Beloit for business. The hotel was easy to find on my 60-minute drive down from the Milwaukee airport as I-43 turns into Milwaukee Road and the hotel was on the left as you come into town. Located next to a discount grocery store (Aldi), the Fairfield is within walking distance of many fast-food restaurants and Walmart. The town of Beloit and Beloit College are within a quick 5-8 minute drive from the Fairfield. The hotel had a pool and exercise room and had been recently renovated. The staff was very friendly. My room came with a king bed and was semi-divided by a half wall into a bedroom area and separate living area with two tvs and a sofa bed. I am not sure if it was a suite, but the layout (without an actual door) made it feel like I was in suite. The bathroom area includes a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker. For light sleepers, you may want to know that these items and the bathroom sink are located around the corner from the sofabed without a separate door. I did notice the sound of slamming doors in the morning and the call of housekeeping as they went from room to room. Otherwise, however, the room was quiet and well cooled at night by the AC unit next to the bed. I found some crackers and paper under the desk (not mine) which suggests that the housekeeping could be a bit more efficient, but I was told they had been very busy the weekend before with a soccer tournament and overall, the room was spotless and very pleasant. I would definitely stay here again.
Everything was a little off at this property: slow wifi, slow and dirty elevator that remained uncleaned, hot food at breakfast ran out and was not replenished, no black teabags, etc. I will not be returning.
The Beloit Fairfield has become my family's go-to hotel when we visit relatives in the area. It has been consistently solid and comfortable for us. The staff is pleasant, with a enough consistency that we actually recognize people from year to year. The front desk staff has worked with me to change reservations, extend stays, use points to pay, etc. They admit they can't solve all problems, but seem eager to do what they can, and managers seem very capable. Breakfast isn't fancy, but fine, with many of the standard options--eggs, breakfast meat, waffles, fruit, yogurt, pastries, etc. The woman who runs the breakfast area most days is attentive and pleasant, and I've rarely seen things in disarray or in short supply. Rooms and lobby are clean and comfortable; the lobby has coffee and tea round the clock. I feel good about returning here.
Not typical of Marriott, we had a bad experience with the staff working this hotel. It started when we first arrived and was given a room with 1 king bed. My reservation was for a king suite with a pullout. We went back to the desk and they changed us to 2 queen beds. That would work. When we checked in we asked the attendant if we decided to stay only 1 night would we be billed for the 2nd night. The attendant said to let him know by midnight if we wanted to change the our stay to only 1 night. Otherwise the reservation would stay for 2 nights. We never told him to change it. So imagine our surprise in the morning when we received our bill. First of all the room was charged at a higher rate then what I had booked. So we got that taken care of. Then we explained we never changed the 2 night stay. Whey did we get our bill. The attendants told us, our reservation was cancelled the night before. We NEVER cancelled or changed it. Then we were told the hotel was full for this night and we did not have a room. After about an hour or so, we were told they found us a room. They checked us into that room, while we were packing our stuff. We move into that room, only to find it under maintenance. We go back to the desk staff who then moves us to another room. We move our stuff to the new room, only to find 1 king bed again. So we go back to the desk and they tell us they will bring a rollaway. We leave for about 5 hours come back and no rollaway. Ask the desk staff who are now different people and they tell us they do not have any. They put us in a handicap room, so the shower /bathroom floor has drain and the water just rolls out. The shower head stopped working and only the sprayer would work. I ended up sleeping on the floor because the bed was not comfortable trying to fit 3 adults in it. In the morning, I go to check out and was told that they were giving us the room for free, and I needed to come back to get the receipt once we were all out. We go back to get the receipt and a different person tells us the room is not free, they are giving us 10,000 points. I understand problems and mistakes happen. The way the staff at this location handled our problems was unacceptable. Each person told us a different story, and no one really cared, nor did anyone apologize for the mistake of cancelling our reservation in the first place. We stay at hotels 2-4 times a month and have never been treated by Marriott this way. Very disappointing. This local needs some customer service training and staff that cares about the customer. The breakfast area was very small not enough space for people to get their food or sit down.
Ample, well lit parking. Very friendly and professional staff. LARGE, well appointed rooms. Modern micros and midi fridges. Breakfast was well attended and very good, as well. Good location near many restaurants, gas stations, etc.
