Good location, friendly stuff, simple and comfortable stay

wonderful experience - beautiful, romantic, cozy hotel, helpful staff that is close to attractions, shopping, dining and walk to the sea promenade

When we arrive at the airport we were very frustrated because the promised transportation transfer from the airport was not available but once we arrive at the Hotel we found the staff very accommodating and courteous. They even offered to check why they forgot to send the guy to pick us up. WE found the rooms clean and tiny and very well ventilated. The things that you can you for free are well labeled as well as those you need to pay for. Warning labels are also there wherein it reminds you not to drink the water in the faucet. Location wise it is well situated near the important places to visit. It is 5 minute walk to Arasta Bazar and 8 to 10 minutes to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. It is about half an hour walk to Grand bazaar and all around you can see restaurants and food mall. The TRam is within walking distance as well since the station is besides the Hagia Sofia as well as the Big bus tours.

It is a great little hotel at the perfect location. So many nice shops and restaurants around and 5 min walk to Blue moaque and Hagia Sophia and Topkapi palace. The whole area is safe and stays open late. All the things are available right there. Will stay again.

They did not have a room available for us when we arrived because of se problem with the rooms. They put us up in a room in a hotel next door for one night and it was not as nice. We were able to eat at their breakfast buffet.

This hotel is located near all the sites one might want to see in old Istanbul. However, be prepared to change rooms because of either noise or because the air conditioner doesn't work. The staff worked hard to accomadate us and one time we got lucky during a muggy night because the air conditioner didn't work but the repairman happened to be around late at night and he repaired it. Many times the door to the balcony wouldn't close completely and the air con wouldn't work and at times the air con couldn't be turned off. I heard two people arguing with the front desk that they didn't want to be moved to a fourth room because the previous three they encountered many problems.

The personal at the hotel are very friendly and helpful, the room was clean all the time. Do not expect a big room but the room is in very good conditions. The hotel is five minutes walking distance to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia.

We were warmly greeted, and for a nominal sum upgraded to a large room with balcony overlooking the Bosphorus. The room was clean and service attentive. Only one complaint, and it upset my wife enormously! having traveled to over 100 counties and stayed in 1000's of hotels over the past 40 years, this is the first occasion ever that where tea making facilities are provided in the room, have we been charged per tea bag used (4TL). There was no evident indication that there was a charge.

Lovely little hotel in the old city just a block from several open-air restaurants and three blocks from the Blue Mosque. Great place to explore.

The Avicenna Hotel in Istanbul is only 7 minutes (walking) from the tram station Sultanahmet and with that 7 minutes from the Aya Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. Furhtermore it is a only 2 minutes (walking) from Akbiyik Road where you find lots of restaurants. The Hotel itself is a nice place, very friendly and helpful personnel, a good breakfast, a laptop for free Internet access and a nice roof terrace (closes at 11PM). Towards the seaside there is a train track so some of the rooms are a little loud in the morning but our friend who travelled with us could easily change the room after the first night. The building would need some maintenance. we paid 80USD for a double which is a good deal for Istanbul considering location and the good overall experience.

I was a very happy customer, with a very friendly staff and a good breakfast

Call ahead and have them arrange for the airport shuttle, half price of taxi and no great delay. Friendly and eager to help staff, were able to store luggage for early arrival and start our museum hopping and restaurant sampling in Istanbul. Breakfast was simple but adequate and was included to the rather reasonable room price. The only negative was the room size, which was very cramped, bath and shower tiny! However, clean , with free WiFi. The location more than made up for the cramped accommodations, waling distance from Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi, Grand Bazaar. Fun and safe to discover the old city Would recommend staying, but would consider the deluxe rooms for an additional 30 Euros/day if room comfort is important.

The location is fantastic and the design as well, I was on honeymoon trip we need a room a king size bed 1st we shocked once we saw 2 beds besides one another so easily you can fall on the ground!! but the most things which upset me before departure is when the reception guy ask me to pay for extra charges for soft drink from mini bar which we didn't touch or use!!! and then start to cry if we didn't pay for it he will pay I told him it not my mistakes we never touch or use it, anyway I was to hurry to catch my plan I pay but I promise to never back again, the stuff was miserable.

BE AWARE....that the reception desk does not know english very well at all!!! They put me in a room that has windows to the courtyard where there is breakfast in the morning and the hallway door right outside mine. At night people smoking in the courtyard penetrated through your windows. You could hear people talking and slamming the door and walking down the hall. I couldn't open the blinds to the windows because it would be face level to someone sitting in the courtyard. And forget it if you want to sleep in a little bit because like I said breakfast is in the courtyard and everyone eats out there. Breakfast is not all free. Juices you have to pay for. The airport shuttle that was suppose to pick you up at the front of the hotel was 30mins late and then you had to walk up the street and around to get to the shuttle. And the shuttle takes it's sweet time. My flight was at 12pm and I took the 835am shuttle and I barely made it in enough time to get to my gate. Remember you have to go through 3 different lines of security if you are flying internationally. The location was great though and the bed was comfy. There is a restuarant up stairs that the reception fails to tell you about and where it is. I went up there and no one was eating there. While I was waiting for the late shuttle. I over heard a British woman complaining that someone was drilling all night and she couldn't sleep because it sounded like it was right outside her room. She also complained that her sink constantly fills up with water. I feel bad for her because I saw the reception desk and they had no idea what she was saying because they couldn't understand. They just nodded their heads and smiled. A little ridiculous.

Front door is 4 stars hotel . AC didn't work in room ( staff sent ppl over to check but not to fix ) . Noise & vibration because hotel is next to track( tram ) . We had a bad night expirence in Istanbul ( very lucky was ONE night stay only ).

Avicenna is a great place to stay in Istanbul. Room was small but clean. Staff is extremely helpful, and the included breakfast was very good. Location is perfect - you can spend several days walking to many of the best attractions in the city. Also very close to the tram, Bosphorus and great restaurants.

Wonderful location and staff!!! Hotel in walking distance to all the historical sites. Had a fabulous time and will definitely stay at the Avicenna Hotel again!
