Upon check in my husband and I were told that we were given a complimentary upgrade for our room. The gentleman helping us pulled out a map and said you booked a room by the golf course but we have upgraded you to a room by the tennis courts. We thanked him for the offer but declined and said we would prefer the room we selected during booking. The man excused himself and came back with a manager, Natalie. We asked Natalie who gave us the upgrade and she said she didn't know but the new room was larger and had a kitchen. I again thanked her for the offer but said it was just two of us and we did not plan on cooking. She kept going on and on about how the room was bigger until i pulled up the Floorplan and pointed out that both rooms were 681 sqft. Finally I asked her if perhaps someone made a mistake and were overbooked. I would have been ok with this, just wanted honesty. She said the best she could do was put us in the new room tonight and then the next day we could move rooms but be without a room from 11am-4pm. No one wants to be without a room for even a few hours incase they would like to nap, change clothes, or just relax in a room they paid for. Aside from the bad experience during check in, it was a lovely place to stay

It was definitely a well cared for property, but our room was a bit dated, the restaurant food was very good - but wait times were ridiculous and very expensive. Luckily, there are lots of good restaurants off property.

Our room was beautiful - oceanfront & had a great balcony. The staff was unfortunately very hit or miss- most seemed bothered to help you & were not at all friendly or attentive. Could be a fabulous experience with better service levels, which is what is expected at a resort like Cheeca. At checkout the woman didn’t bother to ask about our stay or say thank you for joining us- just handed us our statement with no greeting… leaves a bad impression.

The grounds to the property are very well kept and beautiful. Rooms could use a little updating but very clean and well kept. The main issue is that there is no entertainment day or night. No music or engagement. The recommendation received if wanting entertainment was to go outside of the property.

We loved the beach and all of the facilities! It was so easy to park under our room with the golf course view. The property is gorgeous and well maintained. Also, Spa Island was so pretty and relaxing as well as the waterfall grotto pool and jacuzzi near our room. Loved the adult pool too! Daydrian was so pleasant and helpful at check in. Jordan at the inside bar was master of tasty cocktails and super friendly! We used the shuttle for nearby restaurants which was timely and convenient. We also walked to some nearby shopping and favorite lunch spots!

Had a wonderful stay. A place that encourages you to spend time and have fun with your family (or as a couple). Plus points - large and comfortable room - parking underneath the room, so short distance to car - amazing facilities and activities included within resort fee. 9 hole pitch and putt golf, kayaks, paddleboards (weather permitting), fishing (tackle and bait), tennis, pickleball, beach volleyball, basketball, table tennis, games room with 2 consoles, basketball game, air hockey, 2 outdoor swimming pools, 1 adults only outdoor pool, bicycles. - stunning location by the water. Large beach and easy kayak or paddleboard trip to see the Bloodlines house and other sights - beautiful landscaping, including the lagoon, which was striking when torchlit at night - good recommendations for activities and eating options offsite Things that could be improved: - service generally wasn’t as good as I would expect. Service at the main restaurant was slow on the times we ate there for breakfast and dinner (we did have food service at the Italian). Housekeeping was often late in the day and on one occasion didn’t make the beds because we were in (we had been out for the morning but had returned in the early afternoon and the cleaner was ending their shift). Some staff (not all of them) in the games room and on the golf course looked bored and were on their phones. - food onsite is very pricey. Better options for better value offsite. - Air Con in room was stop/start and noisy

Great time but resort needs work
We had a great time, despite the rocky start. We checked in and they told us our room would be at another building and we could drive there. It was pretty close. We parked and unloaded the car only to realize we were staying on the 3rd floor and the elevator was out of order. The front desk really should’ve informed us of this and at least offered to help us get our bags upstairs. It’s no fun with heavy luggage and a 2-year-old. It’s also not convenient when you want to leave the room with a stroller and have to go up and down stairs with a stroller. The ice machine in our building also didn’t work so I had to go around and find another one. This is also something they should’ve let us know at check in. Our room was nice enough. It was pretty dated but the beds were comfortable and we had what we needed. The light fixture on the fan was broken and the bulb was exposed and the toilet had a hard time flushing. We went down to the pool and had a great time swimming. The views are unbeatable and the pool area is nice overlooking the water. We went to dinner at Nikai sushi lounge. Service was good, drinks were made nicely, and the food was fantastic. When we got back to our room we received a call from hotel management. I guess they got word from Hotels.com that our check in was less than good and they offered to pay our Nikai bill for the mishap. That was unexpected and appreciated. The next day we caught fish and sharks on the dock. We had a great time!
