We had an incredible time at the Ixchel Beach house. Emilio and the rest of the team at the restaurant and beach were excellent. We were in room 409 in building two and it was fantastic. Each room is different, so make sure you request a room that has been recently renovated. The area surrounding the hotel come alive at night. Don't forget to try the churros and marquesitas from local street vendors. We really enjoyed our time in Isla Mujeres.

Overall our stay was good. The Ixchel is very conveniently located within walking distance to the main shopping and restaurant area. The room was clean and simple and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were there in August...and it was HOT...our room's AC worked well and was a welcomed relief after a hot day on the beach. The only complaint that I have about the Ixchel is that upon check-in, they gave us the incorrect room. My friend and I booked a double room and they gave us a King. They told us over and over again they didn't have a double, but we were quite upset as we didn't want to share a bed and insisted they keep checking. After about 10 minutes of persistence, they magically were able to find a room with two beds. I have read other reviews of this happening to other people and while we were waiting, a young lady said it had happened to her and her mother too. Aside from that snafu, the stay was enjoyable, but I would probably only return to the Ixchel if I was travelling with my spouse and only needed one bed; it seems like being assured of getting a room with two beds is a big problem for them. The beach was wonderful. We had great service from Armando and all the other beach servers were kind and attentive. The pool area and hotel grounds were clean and well kept. We packed lightly so a nice surprise was the laundry facilities available for guests. 55 pesos each for the washer and dryer on the main floor of building one.

Perfect location on Playa Norte...just walk out of the hotel to the beach! Though, you'd better get out there early to plop down in the chairs provided by the hotel. The staff were SO friendly and helpful. And the room (a standard) was very roomy and clean and we could see the ocean and hear the waves at night. On that: with windows open, the only negative (and it's small) is that there was pool activity and noise that went on later than the pool was supposed to be open. The on-site bar and restaurant were small but very good. We would definitely go again.

The staff at Ixchel was amazing during our entire trip. Our 2 bedroom room was perfect for our group, and the food and drinks were delicious.

When we checked Martha the night manager wanted to put us in room 103 right in the hallway behind her front desk 103 is the located in the worst possible place you could ever want imagine all the noise every time someone was checking in and out not to mention all the questions people ask night and day .so then she says I can put you in room 202 on the second floor it’s the same room as 103 it after 2 days I’ll need to move into 103 ? Because someone else is arriving who gets 202 , why I’m here first both rooms are identical why do I have to move well 300 dollars will get me an upgrade screw that . I had to call the manager who had to think about it ruining my vacation caused a riff with my wife over this issue total bs from staff who don’t have a clue I’ll never stay at this second rate hotel.

We enjoyed our brief stay here. The beach / ocean out front is perfect. Service excellent. Location is fantastic - just off the main drag where all the restaurants and shops are located. Very good golf cart rental next to hotel.. our only regret was booking a basic room. I'd suggest getting a better room with a balcony so you get a great view.
