This place was amazing. It is a large, well-maintained property with lots of places to hang out in hammocks or beds outside, and a gorgeous large pool overlooking the ocean. The rooms are large, clean, air-conditioned and atmospheric. The buffet breakfast is plentiful, with assortment of fruits, cereal, breads and a variety of hot dishes. And there are paddle boards, kayaks and bicycles, free for guests to use. A few in our group were vegetarian and it's too bad we didn't find out until our 3rd day that they are happy to make special meals - if you talk to the head of restaurant services, they will make just about anything to supplement their somewhat limited dinner menu. The only suggestion I would make is that they have water footpaths in front of each room so that you don't track sand into the room. Also - beware that they give you 500ml/person of water each day, but that's not enough! You can go into town and buy 4L bottled water jugs very cheap. This was by far the nicest looking hotel (we walked along the beach to town).
Got upgraded to the master suite. Beautiful room and beautiful property. The service was excellent! They really go above an beyond! Definitely will be coming back and recommending it. It was a shame that we came during rain season.
Pros: 1. Direct access to water. No road dividing the hotel from water access (most other hotels have a road between them and the sand beach. 2. Good room size and design Cons: 1. Bad restaurant and food (both myself and my wife got sick from their food). 2. Bad customer service and everything you ask for cost money or they add their fee on top of the cost (e.g. Renting a gold cart fee + adding their fee for getting it) 3. Rooms rate are way over priced 4. If you don't speak Spanish they are less likely to accommodate, e.g. Extending check out time they refused to while known other customers were able to get a one hour extension.
We stayed 4 nights here. It's a wonderfull place to stay outside the center of town with direct access to the beach. As it's away from the town, you'll need a cart(taxi) if you want to eat outside. Lunch at the hotel is fine with a various menu. However for dinner, there's a limited rather expensive menu, so you better go into town for dinner. It's a normal practice in Mexico to give a tip, but asking for a tip at breakfast which was included in the booking is over the top. The service at the reception is efficiënt but rather 'cool'.
"Oh my God..we found paradise!"... wife's expression when she walked in to Villa Flamingos. We only stayed here one night at the very end of our "Ruta Maya" family tour throughout Chiapas and the Yucatan Peninsula and left wishing we knew better and lengthen our stay at least one more night. Villa Flamingos is so beautiful and relaxing. What we loved: (1) The "private" beach and pool area with shaded beds and palapa bar / restaurant, (2) the hammocks by the ocean, (3) the long knee deep / shallow beach that stretches far out - ideal for paddle boarding and for kids to play safely in the water (4) the views of the sunset, (5) the remoteness, the hotel is far from town, peaceful, quiet and off the main touristic zone and (6) our room: we stayed at the "Bungalow Arena" which we highly recommend for small families with kids (3-4 people). The room is on ground level, with two double beds, a small indoor Jacuzzi which opens to the beach with large windows and a private outdoor shower on a small back garden (ideal to shower off the sand), also no TV (which made our kids find creative ways to get entertained) . What we did not like: (1) the mosquitos but nothing you can do about it during the Mayan Summer other than using insect repellent, (2) rustic setting (although also it's main appeal, we feel that just a little more amenities/luxury may have help make our stay more enjoyable). We can easily stay here 2 - 3 nights but maybe will crave more amenities after a week (that's just our personal opinion). In any case this place is Paradise, and everyone deserves a piece of it at least for a day!...
I usually hit up Tulum and all places riviera maya. I was skeptical, excited and curious when I got invited to a wedding at Villas Flamingo. In a nutshell, it far exceeded my expectations and I want to go back already! The staff were so friendly and really seemed to be having a good time. I heard from than a few of them how awesome the owner of this place is. I feel good giving my money to an establishment that values its employees as well as its customers. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The complimentary breakfast was more than adequate. The beach appeared to be one of the best on the island. No sea grass piled up anywhere. Clear water, free kayaks and bikes! Doesn't get better. The beds were so comfortable and the room had a great a/c. I'm at giving this hotel 5 stars because it was so beautiful and fun and friendly. There are only a few things that could be improved. I will mention those as well to keep this 100% honest. 1. The door to our room wasn't sealed fully so I think mosquitos could get in. Nothing a little weather stripping couldn't fix. 2. The drinks were delicious but not super strong. Good for some but I found myself adding more booze to them or just drinking wine. 3. Our friend getting married stayed on the 3rd floor. Room 27, I believe, and they had a hard time cooling off. The room was huge and beautiful but could probably use another a/c unit. 4. This is more of a tip and not so much a hotel issue. People were complaining of mosquitos however, I don't think they were mosquitos eating me alive, I'm pretty sure they were noseeums. If you aren't allergic to them, you'll be fine, but if you are, you will be covered in tiny itchy bumps. Only a few people there had this problem. The rest just had a few mosquito bites. If mosquitos are your problem, bring your own Deet bug spray. If noseeums are your problem, the hotel provides bug lotion at the bar that is citronella based and it works far better for the noseeums than the deet. All in all, all of those things were so minor I can't even deduct a star for them. I loved it and I will be back. Thank you villas flamingos and your awesome staff!!
This is a very pretty boutique hotel. The staff were super kind and always had a smile for you. The water is amazing and you can walk out into the ocean about a 100 yards with a frosty beverage in hand. The hammocks in the ocean are amazing. I parked myself in one and chatted with "Kyle" the pelican for quite awhile. The free breakfast in the morning was great. We enjoyed fresh fruit, juices, made to order eggs/omelets, potatoes, sausage, bacon, cereals, good coffee, etc. The dinner was yummy also, Not a huge kids menu, but just ask the waiter and they are happy to make something up for you special. The rooms are nice - comfy beds/linens and a architecturally interesting bathroom - the shower head is log. You just have to see it for yourself. One of my favorite little touches, is that they have created homes for the iguanas and named them, i.e. Casa de Sofia, Casa de Pablo. Check it out, most of them around the pool.
This place is amazing! We visited Villas Flamingos in May 2016 and enjoyed ourselves so much that we returned for another week this year! This is a property that offers modern conveniences while blending in with nature and the surroundings. A great place to kick back, read a book, get some sun, take a leisurely walk on the beach, or do nothing at all. It offers unique rooms, a pool overlooking the ocean, excellent bartenders, and a the best staff on the island. When you visit Villas Flamingos be sure to introduce yourself to Juan and Jahir, and Jose at the outdoor bar. These guys are THE BEST!
From the time I checked in till the time I left, the customer service was great from the front desk to the guys serving food at the beach tables. Always attentive to your needs. Nothing beats the view, even the rooms in the garden rooms have excellent views. The pool is right at the beach and you have lounge chairs and umbrellas feet from the water. I have nothing negative to say. Would highly recommend staying here.
The hotel is in a great spot with amazing views and beach. The rooms are very colourful, clean and well furnished, if a little too 'over-decorated' in places. The staff are generally very helpful and we very much enjoyed our time here. The food and in particular the guacamole is really good. Although we thought the breakfast could be improved and was a little limited. Initially we had some issues with the room not reflecting the pictures we saw online and complained to hotel management. This was well handled by the team, the pictures immediately adjusted to avoid future confusion and i was pleased with the response and help provided here.
