It's our second time back and still in love! Unfortunately we got a lot of rain but the hotel was perfectly prepared for the weather. We will continue to return to Villas Flamingo . Shout out to Ivan, Jahir and Gabriel our favorite servers who were AMAZING!!!!! Love this place.
I hesitate to write this review as when I come back to Villas Flamingos I want it all to myself! We stayed in room 19 which was beautiful and had a gorgeous balcony looking out to sea over the pools. Huge comfy bed with big towels and a fridge to keep your drinks cool. Our daughter stayed in the cheaper room 3 which was also very nice and had a sea view from the balcony. This hotel has a great location with no road in front, located at the far end of the island. Whilst we were there you could walk or kayak ( free hire) along the shore to see hundreds of flamingos , breathtaking. We loved the resident iguanas and raccoons too. The trips organised by the hotel to the three islands ( swimming in the fresh water pool in the mangroves a highlight) and to swim with whale sharks were fabulous and were experiences not to be missed. The staff were all lovely and helpful and the food and cocktails in the restaurant were good although we went out to dinner most nights to experience more of the island. As others have mentioned the WiFi was almost nonexistent away from reception which cut down the number of cocktails I could order from our balcony! Although this was probably a good thing, portable Dongle technology used effectively in other remote locations, might be worth considering.
Honestly, we imagined a much much nicer hotel than this. Hotel are ok but not the standard to pay $350 a night. We enjoy spending money on our vacation but this was just too much. Nice thing: The new shower. Negative: The girl at the front desk and average room. Holbox is ok but you have seen it and done it all after 2 days.
Hi We spent 2 nights late April and we enjoyed our time there. The staff was very helpful, the swimming pool was the most beautiful I have ever seen in my life. The hotel was more fit for couples than a little family like us (1 baby and a 4 years old) however we were still very nice with us and our stay was a great success
Stayed 4 nights recently. Fantastic Hotel. It is almost the furthest hotel from town but only a 15-20 minute walk along the beach or a 5 minute golf cart. (50 pesos each way). Water is spectacular, you can walk 30 meters out and sit on a sand bar and enjoy the sunsets. Iguanas everywhere you look. Breakfast was good. Room Service is done via whatsapp which can be dicey as we stayed in a room with very little wifi - not a huge issue though. Probably needs to be some rules surrounding the sun beds, you can literally put a towel down and head off for 6 hours and come back to it. Which is frustrating for those who miss out and want to use it then and there. Stayed in room 19 which was styled just about perfectly. Large balcony you can escape the sun but still take in the views. Shower is a little strange - as it comes out the top of a log than spans the length of the shower area. If they hung a shower head of the log, it would work/look a lot better. Again not a huge issue. Watch out for the raccoon if your lounging with food!
Holbox is heaven on earth, and Villas Flamingos keeps up with the celestial experience. Quiet, spacious and has anything you need to make your visit to the island spectacular: bikes, kayak, hammocks...everything.
Without a doubt the best hotel in Holbox, the rooms are a dream!! The beach spectacular!! The food was a mexican mix of flavours and smells. All the staff is super kind and the manager of the hotel gave us the best attention in the hole trip!
My partner and I stayed for 10 nights in March. We had a wonderful room in the building opposite the adult pools which was perfect for us as we don't have children. Breakfast was very good, the staff were lovely and the tip situation didn't bother us at all. We had dinner there our first night and found it to be OK, not great but never intended on eating dinner there other than the first night anyway. We enjoyed walking to the town in the evenings and taking a 'cab' back. Our biggest gripe was the lounger situation. We wanted to be around the adult pools but there just aren't enough loungers. By day 2 we realised we had to be up and armed with towels by 7am so we took it in turns to do this and hated having to do it - it was a case of following suit. Even though we weren't having particularly late nights, I really didn't want to have to set an alarm each morning let alone that early. On two mornings by 6:45 all the beds had gone!! People were having to use the odd looking chairs on the edge of the property. You could absolutely put a few more loungers in without it looking too over crowded. Also, I think one adult pool would have been enough which would have left more space. The shower in our room (from the tree branch) we found to be more gimmick than practical - it leaked out of the shower cubicle and out in to the room but was no big deal, just a waste of towels. The views from our terrace were incredible, the location was perfect for us - making up for all the little gripes I have mentioned because we are planning on going back next year and will be choosing Flamingos again.
Clean, quiet, friendly, safe....lovely beach, especially for young children as there is, virtually, no surf and a shallow sea at all times. Bar and breakfast service was very good. Dinners were delicious and restful( though not there for many). Easy to just stay there and never venture into town. On the other hand, town is fun and there beach bistros along the shore are fun for lunch or afternoon drinks. Lovely spot! Local fishing services were superb and were helpful with children, in particular, fishing with Sand Flea's family!! Find them..they have a great restaurant, too!! The "transfer" and drive out there is long but was handled, flawlessly, by the hotel.
We got the Bungalo Cielo and OMG, it was gorgeous. AC worked great, the tub on the top floor palapa was amazing, the included breakfast was very good (FYI they dont have champagne to order mimosas- no biggie). Service at the hotel was excellent. They will call you a taxi when you need to go to town. I found the distance to be too far to walk in that heat, but they do also have bicycles you can use. The pool was never crowded either. Next time we may stay closer to town just to be walking distance, but I am glad we chose Villa Flamingos because it was awesome and we may not have seen some of the places that far up the island if we hadnt.
