I usually hit up Tulum and all places riviera maya. I was skeptical, excited and curious when I got invited to a wedding at Villas Flamingo. In a nutshell, it far exceeded my expectations and I want to go back already! The staff were so friendly and really seemed to be having a good time. I heard from than a few of them how awesome the owner of this place is. I feel good giving my money to an establishment that values its employees as well as its customers. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The complimentary breakfast was more than adequate. The beach appeared to be one of the best on the island. No sea grass piled up anywhere. Clear water, free kayaks and bikes! Doesn't get better. The beds were so comfortable and the room had a great a/c. I'm at giving this hotel 5 stars because it was so beautiful and fun and friendly. There are only a few things that could be improved. I will mention those as well to keep this 100% honest. 1. The door to our room wasn't sealed fully so I think mosquitos could get in. Nothing a little weather stripping couldn't fix. 2. The drinks were delicious but not super strong. Good for some but I found myself adding more booze to them or just drinking wine. 3. Our friend getting married stayed on the 3rd floor. Room 27, I believe, and they had a hard time cooling off. The room was huge and beautiful but could probably use another a/c unit. 4. This is more of a tip and not so much a hotel issue. People were complaining of mosquitos however, I don't think they were mosquitos eating me alive, I'm pretty sure they were noseeums. If you aren't allergic to them, you'll be fine, but if you are, you will be covered in tiny itchy bumps. Only a few people there had this problem. The rest just had a few mosquito bites. If mosquitos are your problem, bring your own Deet bug spray. If noseeums are your problem, the hotel provides bug lotion at the bar that is citronella based and it works far better for the noseeums than the deet. All in all, all of those things were so minor I can't even deduct a star for them. I loved it and I will be back. Thank you villas flamingos and your awesome staff!!

This is a very pretty boutique hotel. The staff were super kind and always had a smile for you. The water is amazing and you can walk out into the ocean about a 100 yards with a frosty beverage in hand. The hammocks in the ocean are amazing. I parked myself in one and chatted with "Kyle" the pelican for quite awhile. The free breakfast in the morning was great. We enjoyed fresh fruit, juices, made to order eggs/omelets, potatoes, sausage, bacon, cereals, good coffee, etc. The dinner was yummy also, Not a huge kids menu, but just ask the waiter and they are happy to make something up for you special. The rooms are nice - comfy beds/linens and a architecturally interesting bathroom - the shower head is log. You just have to see it for yourself. One of my favorite little touches, is that they have created homes for the iguanas and named them, i.e. Casa de Sofia, Casa de Pablo. Check it out, most of them around the pool.

This place is amazing! We visited Villas Flamingos in May 2016 and enjoyed ourselves so much that we returned for another week this year! This is a property that offers modern conveniences while blending in with nature and the surroundings. A great place to kick back, read a book, get some sun, take a leisurely walk on the beach, or do nothing at all. It offers unique rooms, a pool overlooking the ocean, excellent bartenders, and a the best staff on the island. When you visit Villas Flamingos be sure to introduce yourself to Juan and Jahir, and Jose at the outdoor bar. These guys are THE BEST!

From the time I checked in till the time I left, the customer service was great from the front desk to the guys serving food at the beach tables. Always attentive to your needs. Nothing beats the view, even the rooms in the garden rooms have excellent views. The pool is right at the beach and you have lounge chairs and umbrellas feet from the water. I have nothing negative to say. Would highly recommend staying here.

The hotel is in a great spot with amazing views and beach. The rooms are very colourful, clean and well furnished, if a little too 'over-decorated' in places. The staff are generally very helpful and we very much enjoyed our time here. The food and in particular the guacamole is really good. Although we thought the breakfast could be improved and was a little limited. Initially we had some issues with the room not reflecting the pictures we saw online and complained to hotel management. This was well handled by the team, the pictures immediately adjusted to avoid future confusion and i was pleased with the response and help provided here.

I can not recommend this laid back but still elegant hotel enough. The staff at this resort are all so kind and go above and beyond to be helpful. I contacted them about a month before my arrival that I have severe celiac disease and can not eat food that has even come in contact with gluten. They promptly responded to me after discussing this with their chef and managers and assured me that they would be ready for my arrival and that I would be safe to eat there. Once I arrived they had a protocal set up for me that all of the waitstaff were aware of. Not only was I able to eat safely during my entire stay, they served me absolutely delicious food- even some gluten free items that they had brought on to the island ahead of time just for me. I can not thank them enough for this. A special thank you to the managers Ivan and Roy and server Jorge. The location is perfect and after exploring the island and seeing the other accommodations available on the island, I knew we had chosen the right place. My room was incredible- great views just steps from the ocean and with an entire floor just for a hot tub! I stayed in a bungalow chielo. Free and easily accessible use of bikes, kayaks and paddle boards was another plus about this resort. I look forward to returning!

Villas Flamingos is, without a doubt, the best choice of resort on Holbox island. Further away from the backpackers in town but only a five minute golf-cart ride to restaurants and bars. The staff are friendly and the rooms, at least the two we booked as a family, were gorgeous. The beach bar is well stocked and the bartenders chatty - the manager is a bit of sour-puss but he's rarely around. The resort is situated off a sandbar that stretches for miles of crystal clear, knee deep, water - allowing you to take long walks, kayak, or try paddle-boarding even if, like me, you are terrified of sharks. We saw - and stepped on - quite a few stingrays, some as large as a party pizza, but they are harmless. The resort doesn't really cater for vegetarians but there are several exceptional restaurants within walking or golf-cart distance - Luuma is particularly good, we ate there three times. Highlight for me - relaxing at the beach bar after dark with a long-island iced tea, hand feeding a friendly raccoon.

We spent a week here with a large, age-diverse group and had a fantastic experience, from arrival through to departure. The kids, ages 6 thorough 10, had at least as much fun as the grown-ups (ages 35 through 70, fwiw). A very special shout-out to Jahir and "Conejo" for being so kind and accommodating to all of us all week. We're quite looking forward to the next time we can visit!

This was my boyfriend and I's first time to Holbox and could not have had a better experience at Villa Flamingos. Aurelio, from the hotel restaurant truly made our trip, as he gave us his personal tips on what to do around the island. Manny the bellboy was also so helpful during our stay, not just at check in. The rooms are a perfect balance of rustic and eco-chic, ours being on the ground floor had a beautiful outdoor shower (which I used every day, island living!) as well as private jacuzzi which was great to relax and watch the sunset after a long day at the beach. Highly recommend villa flamingos for those looking for a chic yet authentic experience!

This was my 12th trip to Isla Holbox, and while the island is no longer undiscovered, it is still a lovely restful place to visit. My friend and I have stayed at Villas Flamingos 10 times and we still love it. The owner Alejandro Canedo, is usually at the hotel and always greets guests and asks about what, if anything, might be done to improve the stay. Usually, we can think of nothing. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. This year, there is a new breakfast buffet served at the bar on the beach. The setting is tranquil and beautiful. It is easy to walk or take a golf cart taxi into town for dinner or shopping, But the grounds of the hotel are so lovely that it is easy to wile away a day moving from sun to shade on comfortable lounges and hammocks. One very special aspect of this location is the sandbar that appears at low tide. By wading out a short distance, it is possible to walk for miles past the undeveloped part of the island, looking for shells and watching shore birds. A very special place
