We’d plannen to stay 3 nights, became 2. Not for the place or the people, but for our own reasons. The place is nice, clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. We didn’t book the breakfast and if you plan morning trips it’s commonly included in the trip. We had a cabana with fan, but A/C would have been better. It was our second day Mexico, and not yet adapted to the hot nights. The place is at a nice location from the centre, 5min walk and 1 min walk from the beach.

I purchased 2 nights of 'Tent' through AirBnB. I introduced myself (how AirBnB does) only to receive a message saying no tent or supplies were part of my purchase--this was not made clear in any of the 7 tenting posting on AirBnB. I replied asking for a full refund given I was not about to purchase/pack a tent for 2 nights of my entire vacation. I also gave them a reminder that it would be helpful to update their advertising to include 'Tenting SPACE/PAD' not 'Tent' for sale (they have since updated their advertising). I was always professional and polite and even mentioned wanting to stay there in the future. Initially, Jairo replied and he was polite and offering other options for additional costs. Then Tony replied with such a rude reply which lead me to post this 'terrible' review. I was denied any refund, but that is besides the point--business ethics and a poor attitude towards customers are the issues here. It is unfortunate that Tony's said what he did because I would have enjoyed camping there someday as the hostel itself looks colorful and welcoming!

While being my first time to Isle Holbox not knowing what to expect. I decided on these Cabanas Ida Y Vuelta I was pleasantly surprised a Diamond in the Rough. I try often to find something different not a Big All- Inclusive. The Cabanas were charming and relaxing and the grounds well manicured. Without breaking the bank. Tony who oversees the Cabanas was welcoming and the rest of his staff was also! Now let's get to the Breakfast we were offered included in our room, it was some of the best I have eaten in all of my 35 years traveling to Mexico. They had a breakfast cake every morning along with different breakfast sandwiches the presentation was beautiful and you couldn't wait till the next day see what was offered. The Chef & Baker were talented beyond! Now if you're a backpacker or someone that just wanted a reasonable accommodations you can't go wrong we met people from all over the world a smorgasbord of people I would say, from Young to Old! So hope to see you again and Thank You for the experience! Alicia Wessel- Womack Sunscapes Travel

There are so many good things about this place. My girlfriend and I had a private bungalow, which was not too expensive for Holbox, with a beautiful interior design and a nice bathroom. Breakfast was delicious and staff was friendly and helpful. The location is great, too, as the hostel is not far from the city center (and thereby quiet) and close to the beach. In our opinion, the beach are at the hostel and in the west (away from the city center) are more beautiful than the places close to the center. Highly recommendable place!

The area of the hostel is very nice and the decoration including lightning is warm & creates an inviting atmosphere. There are hammocks in the common area and a kitchen with specific opening hours (didn’t use it). We were in a dorm of 4 or 5, it was relaxed. Wifi was more less than satisfying. The ensuite bathroom with 2 showers & 1 toilet was clean, showers w good pressure. No A/C, but was’nt necessary. Location: 12-15min walk from the ferry, 3-5min to the beach, 6-8min to the main square. Luckily we didn’t have that many mosquitos. But in general bring or buy bug repellent for this island. Overall, good value for Holbox.

I am staying here now posting on the holstel wifi from the common area. The hostel has all types of accommodations for every type of traveler. This week I have stayed in the house, the boat bed, and now a cabana. All have been great and really comfortable. The staff here are all fantastic and work really hard to make sure you have everything you need. The common areas are great for meeting other people and getting travel tips or just dreaming in a hammock. It’s just a short walk to the beach (personally one of my favorite sections of the beach here at Holbox). You can easily walk to town but can also hail a taxi (golf cart) or rent a bike. I’m sure I will stay here again. You do need insect repellent but I think that applies to the whole island. I hear the green Deep Woods Off is the most effective repellant for the mosquitos and those nasty chaquistes (no-see-ums).

We stayed at this hostel 5 nights. Here some things you need to know: - WiFi was very poor and completely absent on some days - If you book a room it will have no walls and no floors. Instead of walls they have mosquito nets with holes that are actually big enough for the small nasty mosquitoes to get inside. You will have sand instead of a floor, which isn't very handy if something falls. There is also very little storage space and you cannot obviously put anything on the floor or it will get very sandy. - Although breakfast is advertised, the kitchen is closed on Mondays and breakfast means a very limited option. You need to pay for any surplus. - Staff is nice and helpful nonetheless and the place has a good vibe

We were two people travelling to Holbox just after Christmas and stayed at Ida y Vuelta. We rented one of the individual cabins (the ones with the wooden and not the sand floors). The room was clean and it was cleaned every day. There was a mosquito net hanging over the main bed (not the one in the attic), which came in handy given the amount of mosquitoes you find around here (there is a swamp area near the camping ground). Breakfast was included but remember to head to the restaurant early (if not certain breakfast items tend to run out). The staff at the restaurant were always friendly and they made a real difference to our trip (with tips, advice, etc.). You get hot water in the showers and you can use the communal kitchen and are allowed to take drinking water from the kitchen to fill up your own bottles. It is a very short walk into town and to the sea (there's seaweed on the beach but they usually clear a path so people can wade in). This was perhaps the best and cleanest place we stayed at during our 2.5 week trip to Mexico.

After having an unpleasant experience at the Mayan Palace in Mayan Riviera, this was such a refreshing and contrasting place to come. I did not have phone or internet service for most of the day, and since we arrived late at night, they tried to call me and email me to check with me. Even though the reception was closed at the time of my arrival, there was still someone ready to greet me and lead us to our cabin. My friends and I stayed in the two-story family cabin. It was a large cabin with a kitchen fully equipped, a full private bathroom and one double bed with mosquito nets in every floor. We loved the hammock right by the kitchen and living room. Daily cleaning service was included in the room charge as well. We had a basic (but very delicious) breakfast every day and we had the choice to get more stuff at a reasonable cost. There was a very positive nice air the hostel, everyone was very relaxed and welcoming. I liked this place is geared to all kinds of travelers, you can stay in hammock with mosquito net or you can stay in a nice cabin with all the amenities. The only two things making this place short of perfect are the lack of AC in the cabin - it makes sleeping a lot more difficult and their deficient mosquito nets: they're full of holes and vicious Holbox mosquitoes had a fest with us every night. Thanks David and everyone for such a pleasant experience! I would definitely come back and would recommend this place!!

We camped here after checking out 3-4 other places, this hostel has the best facilities on Isla Holbox. In general the vibe is great, fantastic gardens and hammocks for chilling out. The included breakfast of percolator coffee, freshly made juice and baked good of the day or home made sourdough toast was excellent! Would recommend re-writing the food menu though, as there were so many options that it took us several attempts to find the best for us. Also watch out for raccoons, recommend to keep food in the secure kitchen provided, not in the tent!
