The property is well kept and the front desk staff (Antonella and Israel) were very friendly and helpful. Our stay was problem free when it came to check-in/check-out and our room in general. We would consider staying again. Pros Easy walk to town and all the main beach bars Room was cleaned daily and in good repair Pools were clean and inviting No noise issues from other hotel guests Friendly front desk staff (answered questions without pushing tours) Cons Noise from nearby club (Tribu). You could hear the club music in your room until early morning. Beach club area - this was the biggest draw back for us. No beach chairs for hotel guests unless you order from the beach club. We had to walk to a different area to enjoy the beach without paying extra. Beer is cheaper at many of the other beach bars. Breakfast - our hotel price included breakfast and we expected basic choices but...the word sausage was lost in translation. The sausage and eggs was really cut up hot dogs with eggs. Otherwise, toast, juice and two hot choices. Some mornings didn't include a protein choice and was all bread based (waffles/pancakes and tortillas with a sauce). Not all of the hotel reservations come with breakfast included so you need to clarify when booking. Not sure if the pay as you go price would have been worth it. I will say the hotel grounds are very beautiful and overall, we weren't disappointed with our choice of hotels when the pros vs. cons were lined up. The lack of TV in the room helped us totally unplug and relax. I would remind people that Holbox isn't Cancun or one of the other big beach resort towns. You'll find plenty of open beach area and tons of cheap food options in Holbox. With that said, Holbox Dream is on the upper end of nice hotels for getting away from the normal tourist traps.

We were looking forward to a few days in Holbox to explore the island and swim with whale sharks. After a long day of traveling by air to Mexico, then by car from CUN to Chiquila, and finally by passenger ferry to Hotbox, we then had to wait in line for 45 minutes for one of only afew working golf cart taxis. The hotel did not have any shuttle transportation available. Once we finally arrived at Holbox Dream, we hauled our own luggage up the stairs to our rooms. They were much smaller than we expected but were clean and comfortable. We then went down to bar for a drink and to decide what to do for dinner. When we ordered 4 cervezas we were told that because of the Mexican elections that weekend they could only serve us if we also ordered food. We were hot, tired, and the mosquitos were swarming...and they tell us we can't have a beer?!? We finally convinced them that we would in fact order something to eat so they brought us some drinks. When we were ready to order some food they told us that the kitchen was closing in 20 minutes and they did not want to prepare anything! But the good news was the drinks were now happy hour price...what? We ended up eating somewhere in town (with more problem). Upon our return to the hotel we heard loud music playing. We assumed it would end atleast by 11pm or so. Not the case. Loud music blared from somewhere on or near the property for half the night. The next morning we decided we had enough of this Holbox

I think this is the best location in Isla Holbox for this budget. Its on the beach and the beach bar is perfect, very friendly and funny guys, good food and nice cocktails. There's a fun hostel next to the hotel with fun nights. The beach is the most beautiful beach i have ever seen, crystal clear water!

The best ever! Did not want to leave. Room & Bathroom clean and big. Comfortable bed and the best location EVER. Thanks to Israel for being helpful and friendly. Probably the best place i was in Mexico for various reasons - I am back in South Africa and I LONG for Holbox. Island Beverley

We spent one week at Holbox Dream and had a wonderful time, even though the weather wasn't on our side. The staff was very helpful and friendly, particularly Israel, at Reception, who went out of his way on numerous occasions to assist our group. This included accommodating an additional 4 rooms, when a local rental fell through. It also included providing a box lunch for all nine in our party, because we left too early for an excursion to have breakfast at the hotel. Israel also assisted in helping us locate property which was inadvertently left behind. The property is meticulously maintained, everything in working order and fresh. During our stay we experienced 12 hours of torrential downpour which resulted in flooding. The rain stopped at noon and by 3:00 pm, the flood water had been pumped out and new arrivals would not have had any idea of what occurred. The beach is sandy, shallow, and tranquil, perfect for young children. The beach bar was great, but closed early. The only drawback was the Wi-Fi was spotty.

Great location, staff is really helpful and friendly... Hotel is just a few blocks away from the main street of Holbox... you can find all kinds of restaurants and shops around it ! Rooms are awesome !

Well I really don't know where the other people were staying who wrote negative feedback as this place was perfect. Just got back from 10 nights in at the Holbox Dream for our honeymoon. The rooms are lovely they have a relaxed feel to them and we had a perfect view of the sea. The hotel is really clean and rooms done every day. The beach is clean, cleaner than most of the other hotel beaches. The shells in the bathroom are a lovely touch that we liked. The air con is fab, staff lovely and really helpful. The food in the hotel is nice the breakfast is basic but was fine. The pools are lovely and clean. There were plenty of sun loungers for all the guests and these right by the sea. The only think that could of made this amazing stay any better was the bar staying open longer as it closes before the sun has set but that really is a minor point. The hotel is central to everything, it had rained a lot before we arrived so the streets were flooded a bit but dried up in a couple of days so didn't matter. We will be going back to Holbox and would stay here again in the future. We were never asked for tips it was optional which is nice. Andrea & Israel on reception were really helpful and sorted our transfer home out when we are struggling with the company we booked, we couldn't of managed without them, they have really good English too. Holbox is an amazing place we loved it, I hope it doesn't expand too much to tourists as it's perfect the way it is. We were handy for all restaurants, shops and bars. We wanted a relaxed holiday lazing around and this really was what we wanted. The hotel was nicer than we expected and the sun sets beautiful. Thank you to all the staff.

I could not have been more pleased with our room! We had a room at the very front of the property and could see the ocean from our bed. We thoroughly enjoyed the hammock on our balcony. Inside our impeccably clean room, the AC was cold and the shower was hot with great water pressure. The only additions that could have improved the room would have been a shower curtain and a full length mirror. The location of the hotel is on a nice strip of beach and convenient to town. While we were in Holbox, we thought that Holbox Dream had the least seaweed of any of the beach hotels, thanks to the staff raking it in the early morning. The hotel is a great sunset spot. However, staff start putting away beach furniture around this time. We actually observed one couple being kicked out of their chairs right as the sun was halfway into the ocean. I was turned off by this because there were still other chairs without people in them that could have been stacked while the couple enjoyed the last two minutes of the sunset.

Stayed here for 6 nights back in March 2018. On the whole the stay was nice but was let down by a few things. Having to pay over £100 per night and then having to pay for breakfast £8(and a very average breakfast at that) i found the breakfast in the square at La Tortilleria a much nicer experience altogether. Having to pay a few pounds for beers was a pain too when you only had swimming shorts on. Surely a couple of beers for guests could have been included at the per night price. Having to pay extra to use the safe in your room. The reception staff were really great but the bar staff were unfriendly and only interested in the ladies in bikinis and reminding you that service wasn't included. They didn't do anything it was a self service breakfast! I did enjoy my stay there but was glad to find a few much cheaper and way more friendly hotels for the second 6 nights i was on the island booked last minute online while i was there all back from the beach. I think the beach front hotels over charge due to their location and have lost their way with the customer service a bit.

This hotel is just a few blocks from the square. Check in was handled by Andrea who was such a great help with my bags! She is just a tiny thing, my bags were heavy and my room was up a small, spiraling staircase. She was there most mornings, always very friendly and helpful. The rooms are smaller, but fine. Bed was very comfortable, A/C worked well and love having a ceiling fan to move air around. There were plenty of hangers, but no drawers to put clothes in. Shower was awesome with so much force it felt like a little massage! Housekeeping always did a good job, grounds and facilities are very nice and well kept. Breakfast was included in my rate. It's fine, nothing fancy or exciting but good. Did not eat or drink other than at breakfast. Two swimming pools are kept impeccably clean! They are not large pools - you certainly aren't going to do laps. But they're great to cool off or for kids to play. There are lots of seating options at the beach club and waited service. This is the part that had changed since my last visit. The beach area is now a "beach club" - it has a very hip feel, club music, etc. Personally, it's not for me. I want to hear waves, not music. It seemed most of the people staying were Europeans and most of them smoked. Another disappointing thing for me as I could not get away from it as there are no designated smoking areas at the beach. My little patio hammock/chair was great... until my neighbor would light up on his patio. If you're younger, looking for an upbeat place, a smoker - it's perfect! There is not a thing wrong with the hotel but I'm a bit older, don't smoke and prefer solitude and quiet so it wasn't for me.
