We just stayed a whole month at Casa Maya and had a great time! It’s a cozy hotel with only 7 rooms, located just in front of the (more or less) private beach with sunbeds and parasols. Just a few footsteps away from the town. The rooms are basic, but very clean and even spacious. Good value for money! The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. We had two minor issues in the bathroom which have been settled immediately. On our last day, the lady from the reception told me that she has got a few questions. 1st: What is your favourite drink on the island? I answered her “beer and tequila”. 2nd: What is your favourite food on the island? I answered her “shrimps, in any style”. 3rd: What is your favourite dessert on the island? I answered her “Nothing, we don’t like sweets”. Later, when we returned from lunch, we found a small table at our spot on the beach. With flowers and our favourite Tequila. Just two minutes later, on of the reception guys brought us two ice cold beers. And some 15 minutes later, he came again. With a big plate of delicious shrimp ceviche! We couldn’t believe it, but it was true. We will definitely return to Casa Maya next year, to spend another month at one of the greatest places we have ever met! In the end, once again, a big THANK YOU to the staff!

The hotel is pretty basic, but for this price we were satisfied. The room was clean, we also liked the chance to use the kitchen and cook some coffee in the morning. The wifi is not so good and only works in the reception area and the beach area is nothing special - just a few sun umbrellas and sunbeds. What bothered me is the fact that the owners didn't bother to remove any sea weed on the beach, so it wasn't really pleasant to go to the sea. The location is good - it's near the main square.

The rude and unhelpful staff gave away our reservation, even though we called that morning to confirm it. They offered no explanation and basically asked us to leave since the hotel was full. The grounds were squalid. The palm trees in the entry way were crawling with raccoons. They advertise that the property is beachfront but there is no usable beach in front of the hotel. Though it was stressful to find another room last minute we were relieved that we did not stay in this depressing hotel. Avoid this place at all costs. The price may be attractive but you'll regret it in the end.

Yes its a bit bleak inside, but its fine to sleep in. The staff don't speak much english and won't check you in before 3pm but they let us leave our bags and check out late. The real win is the beach in front, yiu can use the hostel sun loungers, its preety chilled and less busy than the rest of the beach and there's a bar opposite if you want drinks. No where else with its own beach was at a remotely comparable price when we looked!

Not the best place to stay in Holbox, the pictures make it look way better than what really is. Room.- Dirty, small, smells bad and the A/C makes so much noice we have to turn it off and melt to try to sleep. Location.- we choose this place because it was infront of the beach, but they have 4 beds and no matress for them and always busy. this hostel is located next to a night club so the music will not let you sleep until 5 am if you want to relax dont get any close to this place, if you only want party maybe is for you. staff is not nice they looked anoyed by guests been there.

We arrived on our check in day at 8 p.m. with confirmations in hand and we're told they did NOT have our reservation! They had NO rooms and we're were traveling with 2 other people. This is a small island with limited rooms so we weren't sure wherected we would sleep! After walking up and down the streets we finally found a hotel with 2 rooms - for twice the price. We had to get up early for a boat trip and we're already tired and hot. The hotel was not helpful or concerned, but I don't know if it was trip advisors fault or the hotels. We want a full refund plus the additional cost of our room refunded to us.

We had problems with reservation we had to wait around 2 hours and after that time the reservation wsa not valid (even when i was charged for it), finally i had to pay again and at higher rate, i had to go and buy a soap, no blankets, the personnel was not able to resolve anything.. this kind of hotel shouldnt be available in this platform.

Staff in the hotel doesn't speak English at all. Wifi doesn't work in the rooms, only close to reception. There is no hot water in bungalows. If you plan to come to your room after 21:00 and check out before 8am, there will nobody in the hotel from staff. Even though you will ask them 3 times and leave a note to order you a taxi to the ferry in the morning, it will never happen. The worst experience on the paradise island... P.S. Left for couple of hours ipad at the reception during the day - was stolen the same day. Receptionist just left his desk and went home, and couldn't even bring the expensive thing to the room...couldn't investigate further, as after someone stoled the Ipad- there was no more people ever in the reception. The contact phone number was never picked up. Door bell- as well no reaction. P.P.S. but if you still decide to stay there, don't loose your key, as at night nobody will show up to help you lol

The place was ok, but could easily be much better with better details and attention. Clients should enphazise the terms of the reservation, since they don´t check this information and could not respect the conditions. There are mayor differences between the rooms, so be very carefull when you buy and also at your arrival, since the manager are never present and you have to deal witih a guy at the front desk with little preparation.

This place is in an absolutely enviable location, and has the potential to be an amazing and somewhat affordable hotel in holbox, but it seems the operators just don't care much about it. They're not unfriendly or anything, when the light in our bathroom didn't work they took care of it in a reasonable amount of time. But... we spent an uncomfortable amount of time wondering if we'd have to sleep in the rough because we got to the hotel at 22:30 and no one was there to check us in. By pure luck we were spotted. The sheets has all manner of stains, the "warm" water was barely above freezing, and the apathy of the staff was palpable, if not completely obvious. It would take so little to make this place off the charts, just putting a little more care and elbow grease would do the trick.
