I was working a wedding yesterday and the bride got ready at this hotel. The room itself was nice, although small, but if anyone has severe allergies, I'd avoid this property. I was very disappointed when I saw visible mold in the a/c vent in the hallway. (See photos) It looks like a thorough HVAC cleaning is much needed. Management really needs to make sure there's no water damage that could be causing mold in the building too.
While staff at this property quite hospitable the physical condition of hotel from common areas to sleeping rooms to elevator in very poor shape. I expected more from this property because of Staybridge brand and location.
This hotel was booked for me as part of a business trip. I have stayed at a Staybridge before and had good experiences. Can't say the same thing about this stay. The hotel is located in a good spot. It's near the interstate and HW 31. That's about the best part of this hotel. The hotel itself is very dated and worn. The carpets are folded and dirty. There are broken tiles, ripped wallpaper, etc. The back doors to the hotel wouldn't work with your key. There is a fitness center. It is also the laundry facility. I was afraid to do anything in there. There is a nice courtyard in the center of the building with seating. That was probably the only spot of the hotel I liked. Parking was difficult as the have large trucks and storage containers taking up many spots in the back. Hopefully they are there as a start to a major reno. The room was large, but again very dated. There was a separate sink from the bathroom with lots of counter space. There is also a small kitchen. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were super tiny. It was weird. The coffee table was actually two bed nightstands put next to each other. You can tell house keeping does a good job cleaning. The room was clean, feel of hair and dirt. But the carpet still looked old and nasty. I was not comfortable walking around in bare feet at all. The staff was friendly but did not communicate well. For example, to get into your room, you need to turn the door handle up. We spent 10 minutes trying to get into our room before we went back to the front desk. We we're then told that we weren't opening the door right. That would have been helpful to know when we checked in. Overall, this hotel is in need of a major update. Iwhile it met our bare needs in terms of a bed to sleep in and place to shower, we won't be back.
I have stayed here no less than 6 times. Rooms are always great: clean, spacious, comfortable for lengthy stays. Staff is friendly and helpful. Food is better than average. Dinner is served, along with beer. But...the hallway carpets are stained, seems like the AC doesnt work in the public areas/hallways, it appears rundown. Replace some carpet, paint and upgrade the mechanicals and this would be a superstar.
This property had a very friendly staff. It was under renovations but our room was done and very comfortable. The breakfast and evening reception was very nice. We were able to get right back on the interstate to Chicago without difficulty with gas stations nearby.
Excellent Hotel and Exceptionally Helpful staff. Nikie was at night shift during my start of the stay and she went extra mile to provide all the facilities, including storage for my bags and helped me to move to the next hotel.
The bed's were very comfortable, the evening food and breakfast was good, the room was spacious, the showers nice and clean, and the towels thick. We were only here for one night but would have liked to have stayed here longer.
All in all it's going to be really nice when they finish. Checked in Monday, my room was on 2nd floor stepping off the elevator I was in the middle of a construction zone with probably 20 refrigerators in the hall. That's temporary though. The staff was friendly and helpful, happy hour included beer on tap and light dining, no charge. I will definitely stay with them again and raise my rating when the renovations are done.
Stayed one night while visiting the Children's Museum. Very nice to have a full kitchen and laundry options with young children. The kids loved the pool, which was warm. The breakfast was good and the staff very friendly. The room layout was very non-traditional (king plus pull-out sofa) but provided extra space over the usual motel layout, and made it feel more homey.
Have stayed here several times for business. Good location. Room is good size and clean. Quiet. Nothing super fantastic but not disappointing either. Serve food and beer at dinner. That was enjoyable. Breakfast is sufficient. Overall I would stay here again.
