The photo of the room in the advertisements must be a newly renovated room because our room looked 30 years older than that. We finally discovered why the room had a strange odor when we found a car air freshener attached to the ceiling air vent. Left for dinner only to find out that the on site restaurant closes after lunch. Upon returning to our room we found that the door was ajar. After the initial shock and fear subsided we discovered that our door didn’t close on its own and had to be tugged on to fully close. The next morning we went downstairs for breakfast and coffe to find coffe being poured into Starbucks cups and three or four grocery store pastries in plastic wrappers on a small table as the selections for breakfast. We had had enough and didn’t linger. All in all for the price this place isn’t worth it. Perhaps after the renovations are complete, but I would advise you to inquire about the details before booking.

We were attending a funeral in town. Attempted to check in at 8 pm after a long, hard day. The trainee couldn’t help me, it took ten minutes to find someone that could help. When we got to the room, there was sand everywhere. The spider to the balcony would not lock. We were on the fourth floor and were traveling with our seven and three year old. Called maintenance and the trainee at the desk came and couldn’t fix the lock, so we attempted to barricade it with a table haphazardly. The pillows on our king size bed were half the size of la The pool was drained. At a beach property. Zero amenities in the lobby and property. We needed a bottle of water, and the only bottled water was in a 1980’s coke machine for $4 that didn’t accept cards. Needless to say, not very pleasant.

I hadn’t stayed at this hotel in six years. It used to be my favorite hotel in Melbourne and we were loyal guests, coming every year. Sadly, the hotel is now in very poor condition. Half of the property is under renovation, with constant noise and dust everywhere. The jacuzzi and pool were closed, and the main elevator was out of service. On top of that, medications I brought for my stay — carefully counted — went missing from my room. After noticing this, I observed very strange behavior from housekeeping, including stays of up to 45 minutes in the room, while surfaces like the TV stand and living room tables were still covered in dust. This situation caused serious distrust and discomfort. It’s very disappointing to see what was once our preferred vacation hotel turn into this. For $2,400, I would much rather stay at Crown Royal, which better reflects what this hotel used to be.
