Have to say this hotel will feature highly on my list to visit again. Everything you care for in quality and guest service. The large pool areas are kept very clean and tidy with regular service from the bar staff. Gardens and green areas are well maintained also. The rooms are also well maintained and serviced daily with clean linen and towels (really more than is required). My room was on the ground floor and the doors opened out into a seating area and a small lawn - a few steps further and you were poolside. One pool had various activities whilst the other was quiet and more relaxing. Food had the usual theme night with a pleasant ambience in the restaurants - El Nak is all in one level whereas the Sunflower restaurant has steps but staff are on hand to help those who are less able to negotiate the steps. Food is varied and always a plentiful supply of salads, fruits and desserts. For those of a sweet tooth you will be more than satisfied with what’s on offer. Soups, traditional stews etc are well flavoured and there is something for everyone. The bar staff and reception staff are always on hand to help with and queries you may have. Definitely will be back.
Taking advantage of maternity leave, we scooped up the kids and escaped the winter life for some family fun in the sun - naughty but delightful! Initially we hadn't even shortlisted Egypt, but upon searching for guaranteed sun, decent flight length and best value for money we added it to the list. After reading reviews, we booked this hotel and we are so pleased we did! We did not feel we were 'out of season' as everything was open and the weather beautiful. It does get cold at night!! Something I wished we'd known. It was our first all inclusive holiday, usually we like getting out and about and sampling different restaurants but we did not miss out with the 4 a la carte restaurants, buffet room, pool snack bar and beach snack bar! Even the water park and snacks there were included. Our favourite restaurant was Sofra and Mustafa and Alau were superb at looking after us! The location of the hotel is excellent- couple of minutes to the beach and a nice walk to the end pier. The hotel heated pool was lovely to swim in but the non heated pool was very cold. There are ample beds around the pool. The hotel was clean and well maintained - nothing was too much trouble for the staff and even my requests for a baby bath and washing liquid to clean the baby's utensils and cups were met without the bat of an eyelid. We stayed in a family suite which was enormous with two bedrooms and living area and kitchenette including a microwave. The other children enjoyed the creative towel arrangement each day. Overall a fantastic experience. The hotel is in need of some updating the main bar decor in particular. The beds were comfortable and spacious but a little squeaky. Although polite, there are lots of people selling excursions and trying to lure you into the shop - the nature of holidaying but still a little annoying. The animation team were always upbeat and entertaining and offered a range of activities. We definitely got the sense that Makadi Bay was working hard to build a good reputation for Egypt - the people enhanced the experience and we have very happy memories.
From the moment we stepped of the coach when we arrived, to the minute we were departing to go home, we were treated like royalty. All the staff, gardens, waiters, domestic and management where lovely. Everyone so polite and always saying hello. All guests where made to feel welcomed Our room was fantastic. It was on the ground floor, had a small garden and was situated just 20 yards from the pool. We had a super-king size bed and was comfortable. Fresh towels and linen everyday. The room had a mini fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, safety deposit box (no charge), and a supply of bottled water everyday. The room was huge and like the whole resort was very clean and well maintained. We couldn't believe all what was included in the 'all inclusive option'. We always travel this option but this was the first so much was included. Daily beach towels were given, so no need to pack bulky beach towels. Free access to the water park as many times as you want to go, via free transport and when you got there, food and drinks were also free. The beach was about a 5-10 mins. walk away and like the water park, food and drink was free when you got there. Sun loungers were comfy and waiters came around with fresh drinks. The snorkelling at the beach was awesome. We seen loads of fish and even a sting ray! I would recommend beach shoes because the coral is sharp. The water is like a warm bath. You are spoilt rotten for choice when it came to eating. They have the usual buffet restaurant but also had 4 al a cartes. The buffet restaurant had something for everyone, including BBQ for lunch and dinner and themed dinners. Not only was there the buffet restaurant there was 4 al a carte restaurants, ( A grill, an Egyptian, an Asian, and an Italian restaurant). You could use the al a cartes as many times as you like as long as you booked them, which where all booked through a computer system in the lobby bar. There where plenty of bars, however some you were allowed to smoke in! Drinks were local brands but were quite nice. There was only one negative and it was nothing to do with the resort. Because of no flights to Egypt from either north or south of Ireland, we had an extra cost of flights to U.K. Mainland and hotel overnight, so it ended up expensive. Maybe first choice/ Tui will put some direct flights from Ireland on, in the near future I can't say enough about this resort and that's we are going to return next January, even with having to travel to U.K. Mainland
Booked for a week's holiday. Was sunny most of the time, a bit windy a couple of days. Very warm in sun but gets cool when it goes in at this time of year. Temperature ranged from 21° to 26°. Hotel is excellent with very friendly and helpful staff but there are no lifts. Our room was quite spacious with a balcony overlooking one of the pools on the top floor and was cleaned every day to a high standard. The towels provided were quite large for hotel towels and very white. The food is lovely and varied and there's plenty of it and the eating places themselves are kept very clean. The main eating place is The Sunshine restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner but there are some places by the pool and also 4 night time restaurants offering different cuisines you can book into, via a computer situated near the toilets in the 24 hour Lobby bar. Our favourite was the BBQ one. There is a short walk to the beach just follow the beach signs across the road in front of the hotel and to the right. We walked to it through some lovely gardens with elephant topiary and figurines. The hotel has its own section on the beach with free sunbeds and built in wind breakers and its own free food and bar area. Pool and beach towels are provided using a towel card. The towels are surprisingly large and can be exchanged at the hotel pool for fresh ones when you need to. There are lots if sunbeds. The sea is fairly warm and a couple of the hotel pools are heated. The hotel grounds and pools are tended to daily and are kept immaculate. Went on a snorkelling / Paradise Island trip booked through a rep from the diving centre on the beach who came round the hotel pool. We had a good time, the different fish we saw were amazing and there was quite a lot of pretty coral. Saw a lion fish and an eel as well. Wanted to see some rays on the second stop but I felt the water was too choppy for my liking so didn't snorkel for the full time there. The crew were great looking after us and the food was delicious too. There was a young guy taking pictures of everyone on the boat, whilst snorkelling and on the Island beach. If the price was a lot cheaper I'm sure he would have sold some DVD's. The hotel has nightly entertainment in the Lobby bar and also the resident holiday entertainment staff are excellent and arrange daily pool side activities and put on evening shows themselves. Would recommend a stay here, wished we had booked 2 weeks
I recommend this hotel and surrounding area! The people are helpful, kind, polite! Brilliant entertainment throughout the day! The beach was stunning and the water park was fantastic! Definitely be going back xx
This hotel is amazing, check in was swift and as we waited for our room allocation the reception guy told us a little bit about the hotel which although we couldn't remember all of it some information was very useful, arriving at the room was pretty straightforward I had emailed the hotel earlier to request a ground floor room which was what we were given, the room is reasonable in size with a lovely huge bed and the bathroom is clean and equipped with body lotion shampoo and conditioner, the wardrobe has plenty of hangers and there is plenty of drawers as well, tea, coffee and powdered milk is provided and replenished daily by the cleaner as is large bottles of water. The fridge is stocked with drinks and small bottles of water but you are charged for these items. Food is of a good choice in the main restaurant, however we ate at a few of the a la carte restaurants, which by the way you can use as many times as you like. The drinks are reasonable and you have a few bars to choose from, I would highly recommend this hotel and cannot wait to go back and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place
