We chose Fa-Sol somewhat at random and because they had available dates for the time of our trip. Amazingly good luck. The buildings and the site/view are gorgeous and very well maintained. We pretty much left only to get meals in Crucecita. Otherwise we stayed and enjoyed the setting. The plantings are beautiful as well. One rarely finds a place so well kept-up. The breakfast offerings were very tasty we looked forward to them. The rooms were comfortable and very quiet at night (except for the soothing surf sounds.) No bar, but a nice selection of small meals is served at reasonable cost until 5 PM. Hot water was +/- but that was OK as it was pretty warm out. We would go back here again in a minute. Quiet, no crowds, great staff, and did I mention "beautiful"?

A wonderful place to be quiet and relaxed away from the craziness of the resort scene. Comfortable if firm beds, spacious and immaculately clean rooms, and breathtaking views. The beach is small and not swim-able but there is access to another beach that is a little better for swimming. Breakfast was fresh and made to order and there was a lunch menu until 5 pm. If dinner was offered at least a couple of nights per week it would be that much more perfect. We loved the peace and quiet and would definitely return.

Stayed here for 6 nights in January escaping the harsh great white north. By the end of our stay we had fallen into the rhythm of this hotel and its fine attributes made it hard to leave. First the negatives: the facilities are "simple" - beds are on the hard side, beach loungers don't come with cushions, food service stops at 5 PM and not so much as a drink can be had after that time (excepting the cervezas in the room fridge). The lack of "luxury" may be reflective of the price point, but in my opinion offering up drinks - perhaps some tunes to go along with them - would be easy $$ and enhance the guest experience. On the good side, breakfasts were terrific: fruit, bottomless coffee and a choice of egg and other hot dishes always served with a piping hot side of tortillas - great start to the day when your consuming this overlooking the Pacific. The managing family are helpful and sweet - bring along your google translate app to have a meaningful discourse, however. The gardens, terraced nature of the property, nice (but not swimmable - for this you'll need to take a short hike over to an adjacent, very nice, sandy cove) rocky shore with protected loungers, pool area, and patios /balconies outside the rooms make for a relaxing setting. Villas Fa-Sol is located in a residential area with no accessible commercial zone in walking distance. A rental car suited my needs. Taxis are not expensive, but it is about a 15 minute ride into the attractive town of Crucecita. In my opinion the addition of a little happy hour, followed by a hotel operated shuttle to restaurants for dinner would knock revues out of the park. For now, this is a gorgeous diamond in the rough that needs a little polishing. Rent a car and stay a while, you won't be sorry!

As you can see from the photos, this hotel has spectacular grounds and an ideal beachfront location. The building architecture is striking, with domes and skylights, and the landscaping is lush and meticulously kept. Pools are lovely, outdoor environment is cozy and relaxing. The food was wonderful--all cooked on the spot and served within moments of preparation. Breakfast on the terrace was a treat every day. The staff were also attentive and helpful. These aspects of the hotel are definitely five stars. But...our room was basic at best, and lacked some common amenities. For instance, no clock anywhere, bare bulbs instead of lamp fixtures, and no phone to reach the staff (and given that our room was at the extremity of the property, that meant getting dressed and walking up to the main area anytime we wanted anything.) The shower had a big declivity in the middle that never drained, so that meant standing in a cold, inch-deep puddle, which accumulated beach sand rinsed off us over our stay. Not very pleasant to stand in. Hot water was barely hot, and a long wait to arrive (which ensured our shower puddle was plenty full and plenty cold every time.) The mattress, I'm pretty sure, was the same one I had at sleep-away camp in middle school. Not a mattress LIKE the one from camp, but the ACTUAL mattress from 1986. We didn't sleep well the whole time. Room was huge and had beautiful ceiling domes, but just one set of shelves to store everything. Really needed some more furniture for storage. Was great that it had a fridge, but could really use a microwave, especially for evening/night snacks since the hotel kitchen closes at 6 pm. So overall I'd average the great exterior/grounds/food with a fairly uncomfortable room experience. If I could make a recommendation to the hotel, I'd say they should apply some of the meticulous attention that they give to the landscaping to improve the interior comforts of the rooms.

Wow, wow. Definitely our happy place. From the food, service, accommodations to the people. Love it all. Will go back and spend two months there the beginning of 2018. Huatulco is the cleanest I have ever experienced in Mexico

Everything was perfect at Fa-Sol. Gerardo (general manager) and his son Jordan make sure that from the moment you contact them to the end of your vacation the time that you spend at Villas Fa-Sol leave very special memories. We loved our rooms, location, meals overlooking the Pacific ocean, chats with many staff members and their families. We were sad to leave but know that we will be back

My wife and I spent 3 weeks at Villas Fa Sol and had a fantastic time there. The attention you get from the staff ( which is mostly family members) especially Eduardo his son Jordan his mom Sandra ( chef) Julio and everyone else involved was excellent. Rooms were clean, comfortable and the location was so fantastic with ocean views to die for. I would recommend this resort to friends and family. If you want a great place to stay while visiting Huatulco , this is the place. Do not hesitate to book a room for your next get away. You won't be disappointed.

This place was fantastic! I would stay there again. The staff, grounds and beach, breakfast, etc - all wonderful and highly recommended! So I will only share some tips. 1. It is far from town - 15 minutes. And there is nothing right there to walk out to. This is not bad, just know that when you are there, you are there. (It certainly forced me to do some extra relaxing.:) ) 2. We took taxis rather than rent a car - far cheaper. But it was always a drive to get somewhere, and I am used to just jumping in the car as often as I need to. As I speak Spanish, it was fun to talk to taxi drivers. They all want to take you places, though, and will hustle you to a restaurant at the beach they take you to - if you like one taxi driver particularly, not a bad thing to have your own driver. Just know that they are going to try to 'sell' to you - which for us resulted in our first meal not being where we wanted to eat and we vowed not to let it happen again. (Hotel staff was fantastic at getting us taxis right away, so that was never an issue, and getting taxis back is also no problem.) 3. There are a lot of stairs! Most of the time fine, but after a "long" day out (like snorkeling is so tough), we didn't always want to face them. The view from our room at the top of the place was great, but that room didn't have lounge furniture. I would recommend, even if it's a little more, getting a room on the main level near the dining area. They have a good view and a seating area out front. 4. This has nothing to do with the hotel, but I recommend booking boat/jet ski trips in advance of your stay. We waited and only did a half day and would have preferred a whole day ... and maybe two.

This is a wonderful, wonderful boutique hotel. It has a stunning view of the ocean, and a lovely, very quiet swimming beach located just a few moments walk. The food is simple, but excellent, great for kids and adults. The service was impeccable. The staff seem to all belong to the same family, and there is a baby on the premises that everyone helps take care of. The pool is lovely, there are many areas to sit and watch the ocean, and the hotel is on a cliff, which gives you a fantastic view over the Pacific. The sunsets were awesome. Sandra, Gerardo, Jordan, and everyone else were just wonderful. We will come back as often as we can.

We two friends chose Fa-Sol (in March 2017) as an alternative to Las Brisas, where we had stayed on a previous trip to Huatulco. Two totally different experiences. Las Brisas is a "package hotel" whereas Fa-Sol is a bit like staying in a private home, in a gated residential area. It is effectively a very upmarket B&B. So, it very much depends on your private tastes, requirements and outlook: if you like peace and quiet, sitting around reading in a lovely tropical setting, occasionally cooling off in the small pool (around only four feet deep), this could be ideal for you. On the other hand if you want "a bit of life" go to one of the larger hotels in the area. You can get an idea of the appearance of the place from the photos (think Greek islands - Santorini). Our room was immense by most hotel standards, good bathroom, small dining area if you needed it, efficient air conditioning, lovely terrace etc, etc. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful; and the friendly staff will prepare you any meal -within reason - or drinks that you feel like during the day and evening (you don´t have to stick to their menu). Swimming in the ocean, water sports etc are not catered for here because the tiny hotel beach is rocky and rough. Another beach (three minute clamber through the undergrowth) is deserted and might appeal to some; you would need to take your own sunshades. The nearest town is Crucecita, 15 minutes by taxi (60 pesos one way), where you can eat fish, prawns etc to your heart´s content (e.g. at El Grillo Marinero). Not much goes on there, but Crucecita is a good place to appreciate a bit of Mexican atmosphere in and around the main town plaza, buy a few souvenirs, etc.. The staff at the Fa-Sol do their very best to make guests feel welcome. They are superlatively kind and attentive in the best Mexican tradtion. Most of them speak English, though it´s a good opportunity to try out your Spanish. The new baby "Amadeus" smiles at everyone all day long from his hammock. All in all, we spent six very pleasant days there and would certainly return there if in the area again.
