"I made a three-night reservation and because my wife and I are 90 & 86, covered it with cancellation insurance. During my Friday afternoon car trip from Destin, Florida to the hotel, the power steering failed. There were no garages in the small town 180 miles north of the hotel so I had to get my car taken back home. I called the hotel to cancel and they told me "their computer was down" and I should call later. I called Expedia and cancelled the reservation but they turned it over to a call center I think, because the attendant had a heavy accent. I called the insurance offered during reservation to which I agreed, but there was no answer to the phone call. I then had to get my car back to Destin and I arrived so late we just had to go to bed. I called Expedia, the hotel, and the insurance company the next morning and they wouldn't discuss it with me. Then I called Discover and turned it over to them. They're investigating, particularly the cancellation insurance and will contact me on May 26th. I suspect this is "elder abuse" where Expedia , the hotel, and the insurance company all believe that becaus we're 90 & 86 that we will give up. Not going to happen~!!"
