Hotel Finn2.5 out of 5.0

No frills but very comfortable with a great staff and centrally located in central Helsinki near restaraunts, museums, the train station and port. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who is traveling on a budget.
We are travelling and staying in hotels for 35 days, so upmarket hotels are Out of our budget. This hotel is very basic. Clean beds and shower, quiet and very well located. For the price, in the middle of a capital city, it is very good. Staff are friendly and helpful but they omitted to tell us we had to request housekeeping service by placing a notice on our door. I have never come across such a thing in a hotel ever, and believe me I have stayed in plenty. No provision for breakfast is not good.
If you're looking to spend a short break in Helsinki and want to be within walking distance of all the action, Hotelli Finn fits the bill and is comfortable enough. The bathroom was an interesting experience though - showering while hosing the toilet seat with water was pretty much unavoidable given its tiny size :) Would be good to at least have had some sort of shower cubicle in place so that going to the toilet didn't become such a soggy experience post-shower. All in all though, a decent and comfortable stay in central Helsinki.
A good central hotel a short walk from the bus and train station and everything else in Helsinki. Quick check in, efficient and friendly staff, comfortable room and adequate bathroom facilities; what's not to like? Reasonably priced for Finland.
Hotel Finn is in a great central location and the hotel itself offers everything a traveller could need. The reception staff could not be more helpful and even downloaded and printed my boarding pass for me. The reception area has lockers for left luggage and facilities for making tea and coffee. The room was spotlessly clean with comfortable beds and offered many facilities - a roomy chest of drawers, hanging space, luggage and shoe rack, excellent bedside reading lights, kettle, hairdryer, shelves in the bathroom including even a rail for a flannel, a shower that is easy to use with hot water. The room was wonderfully quiet. The hotel is linked to a restaurant offering a great buffet breakfast with an enormous choice of foods and drink including unusual extras such as passion fruit smoothies and pancakes. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the station and walking distance from most locations such as the harbour, the bus station, the concert halls, the museums and art galleries, and shops. Some may object to the unglamorous entrance or size of the reception area or rooms but to us the advantages far outweighed these minor points.
I like the room and it is very comfortable. The staff was nice and efficient too. Shower space is quite small but still acceptable. Also this is the cheapest among the reasonably rated hotels in Helsinki. The location is a few minutes' walk from the central train station through the City Centre shopping arcade. The lift is an oldish one, it is just like a door and it takes some time to search for it. The only problem is the collaborating cafe across the street. The buffet breakfast is not quite up to standard and quite disappointing. Better get yourself some other food outside.
I stayed here a few years ago but this time around things had become even better. Checkin was efficient but do let them know in advance if you are arriving early. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. My room was spacious though the bathroom was a small wet room provisioned with a very functional floor squiggle that is so practical. The streets can be noisy with several bars outside the hotel but the double glazed windows shuts it off. Breakfast buffet at the nearby Kilin has improved vastly and is great value for E8.5; there is also a more expensive alternative nearby which I did not try. Great value in an excellent location, convenient to all sights. Excellent!
We stayed at the Hotel Finn for 3 nights. As others have noted, entrance to the hotel is a little off putting- the outdoor entrance way is used by smokers from all the adjacent bars- and once you have fought your way through the smoke you are faced with an ancient, tiny but well functioning lift to get to the reception on the 6th floor. After that all is well, the room and bathroom are small but functional, cleaning is optional. The staff are helpful and attended immediately to a problem we had with the shower tap. We were at the back of the building and it was quiet at night- but not early in the morning when the renovation workers started for the day! The location probably can't be beaten for the price.
The room size is reasonable and the washroom facilities are fine. The room is clean and the bed is comfy. Note that it's Europe so bring your own products like shampoo, face wash and toothpaste etc. The location is right next to the big shopping mall - Forum, which is really at the city centre. 10 mins walk from the Central Station, you may also take the tram and arriving in one stop if you are carrying a lot of luggages. The reception opens at 8am and closes around 11pm. The elevator in the building is small and old, but it's working fine.
Great location in the middle of the CBD. The lift getting up the reception is a bit daunting, staff are very helpful and the rooms are basic, but have everything you need. Don't forget to make use of the tea and coffee facilities near the reception, including take away cups with lids. Also make use of the discounted buffet breakfast across the lane at Sis and deli.
