Traveling with my twin boys (Deep Purple concert). We needed simple spacious room without any extra luxurious features of Kämp hotel: just room and breakfast. The service was excellent and included (for extra cost, of course) salads to room and nightly sandwiches to children. Bathroom impeccable and the breakfast premises like staying at someone's home. Walking distance to the centre is a few minutes. Nothing bad to stay as the hotel is excellent!
We stayed at Fabian Hotel for 3 nights and very much enjoyed our stay. The room was very warm and comfortable with plenty of lighting. The bathroom had a good sized walk-in shower and snug underfloor heating. The hotel provide a pleasant range of toiletries to use. The breakfast buffet has a varied range of mainly cold dishes and they differed from day to day. There was one morning where we only just managed to get a table, as the dining area is quite small, but on other mornings there was plenty of space. The staff that we dealt with were great - very friendly and helpful. One of the men on reception (sorry, I didn't get his name) was especially helpful when I realised that I had lost my suitcase lock just as our taxi was due to arrive to take us back to the airport. The hotel is in a very good location for exploring Helsinki and is handily located a couple of doors away from an Alko shop and a supermarket. Overall I really liked this hotel and recommend it highly.
We stayed at the Fabian for a week in August. The hotel has a boutique feel not far from the harbour area, with beautifully appointed rooms & reception. Breakfasts are varied & plentiful. The staff are helpful, friendly, and willing to ‘go the extra mile’ of service. A couple of examples: my wife’s nightgown, which she had put inside the pillowcase, was accidentally taken by cleaners: the reception staff arranged for someone to check the dirty laundry to find it. On another occasion, I asked a receptionist for advice on taking a day trip by train to see the country outside Helsinki. The receptionist, who seemed amused by the request, not only gave sensible advice on options, but also printed off the train times for me! There is an arrangement to use the gym in a nearby hotel, but...brace yourselves & send small children out of the room...there was no sauna in either hotel!! No...sauna...in a Finnish hotel. I resisted the temptation to sit naked in reception whipping myself with birch twigs in protest; but only just.
We were 6 colleagues staying at this charming and cozy, small hotel for 2 nights. All of us very pleased ! The hotel is centrally located just 5-10 min walk from downtown and many excellent restaurants. Rooms are nice, bigger than usual and proper decorated. The beds very comfortable. The bathrooms are also nice and big with lots of space in shower. The lobby is small, stylish and personal - and have good atmosphere, much thanks to the professional and friendly staffs. All we met made a very good impression. The breakfast was served directly next to the lobby. For me the breakfast was excellent, with lots to choose from. The staffs were very helpful, service minded and really tried to do the best for you. Good breakfast – and good coffee ! The breakfast area could be somewhat crowded if you chose the wrong time. We would love to come back to hotel Fabian !
My husband and 2 adult daughters spent a few nights at this lovely unassuming hotel in a quiet location close to the harbor..... Pros The beds are comfortable, the decor modern and upscale......Finnish understated elegant design with warm woods and contrasts of black and white.... The breakfasts were simple but filling....the porridge was creamy the cheeses and breads were good...salads, yogurt, meats etc No views to speak of but rooms make up for that.. Loved the bathrooms Staff very friendly and helpful Cozy colorful designer lobby to hang out in Wine served in the lobby/bar. But there is also a well stocked liquor store next door. Cons We had 2 style rooms not sure if it was worth the extra.... all the rooms are different from each other especially in terms of size and amount/configuration of furniture. We changed rooms as the first style room offered was very small....ask to look at several rooms before choosing....some even have balconies We enjoyed the extra space in room 509....
Fabian has it all... Great welcome upon reception, fantastic room (101) Staff couldn't have been any friendlier Would certainly recommend for business or pleasure trip Centrally located for restaurants and bars
I always stay at Fabian Hotel in Helsinki when I can. It's a small and cozy hotel with excellent service. Rooms are nice and the beds very comfortable. The breakfast is excellent even if there is less choice than at their sister hotel, Lilla Roberts in the next street. The location is convenient and withing walking distance of the center and many excellent restaurants.
We stayed here for three nights while in Helsinki. It’s very central to main tourist attractions as well as the design shopping district. Beds are very comfortable - with single duvets covers for the individual single beds pushed together. It’s a Scandinavian thing as we experienced the same in Iceland. Breakfast is not extensive it’s offering - no hot food except cooked oats - but perfectly fine. The one area of improvement is house keeping. On the second morning we left our from at 10am for the day and returned at 4pm to test before dinner but our room was not made up! We had agreed with reception that house keeping could come before we left for dinner but then 30 mins later were told that house keeping would be finished at that time - so we had to vacate the room and off we went to reception to finish our chill out. So a blip on an otherwise enjoyable stay. The unfortunate thing for them is that I was writing this review at the time of housekeeping-gate so they a three star rating as I’m slightly peeved. 😜
Small and very nice hotel centrally located just 10 min walk from downtown. Rooms are bigger than usual, very nicely decorated. Big bathroom with lots of space in shower. Breakfast area directly next to lobby is small but somehow works very nicely. Good breakfast.
Located on the fringe of the central business/shopping district and directly across the street from the Defence ministry, Fabian is a lovely neighbourhood hotel with easy walking access to the Cathedral and old port, and quick taxi access to the central business and shopping districts. Small, friendly reception and bar area was indicative of the architectural freshness and service orientation of the hotel staff. Sleeping room and bath were spacious, modern, and well-kept. Breakfast area was cozy and breakfast was well prepared with a representation of Finish offerings.
