very nicely decorated hotel with comfortable sofas in the reception/bar area and very friendly staff. breakfast is very varied and consists of many healthy seeds, nuts, fruit and cereals. the only negative I can think about is having to cross the inner courtyard to get to the room i was given. this might be slightly inconvenient in a real Finish winter. the room however was amazing. it was luxuriously decorated, had a sitting area with flat screen tv, small kitchen area with nespresso coffee machine and large bathroom. the bed was extremely comfortable. I would definitely come again.
We had stayed at the Fabian in 2012 and returned to Finland for a week leading up to Wappu this year. A great time to visit Finland. We stayed at the Fabian for a night at the beginning of our trip and again for our the last few days in Helsinki. On both occasions our room was clean and quiet with all we needed for a comfortable stay. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. The breakfast had a great array of food particularly for me being gluten free. We can highly recommend this lovely small hotel in a good location. It is a short walk (10mins) to the harbour/market area and main shopping district.
We stayed here for six room nights in May. Staff were attentive and one morning let us have a full breakfast 90 minutes before the official 7 am start of breakfast. Our taxis were out front exactly when arrange. They happily fixed our safe when we screwed it up. On con: we never got the room temp below 23.4 despite multiple visits on successive days to staff (multiple) and including maintenance. This we found to be a nuisance as we had to sleep with no clothes to be cool enough. The open window was a help.
Fabian Hotel offers top notch experience for a quite reasonable price. Thus, its cost-benefit ratio is higher than other options in Helsinki city center. Herein why: Pros: - Based on what offers, it's got a better overall value for money - Location is great. Very quiet, calm and near the Esplanadi, which is the most beautiful part of Helsinki downtown. Also is 2 min walking distance to one of the best nightlife spots in Helsinki, Kaarle (especially on Thursdays). - Premises are utterly clean and well maintained. Room has good size and features. - Staff is quick and effective for all issues they have been addressed for. Cons: - Breakfast is the main one and a general negative feedback from customers as I can see. The area is cramped and the options are limited and always them. Some standard options are not offered such as: cappuccino and any other coffee options rather than the powder+water one; fried/scrambled/omelette eggs; sausages. - Room services are limited. I haven't seen dining options.
A great and very stylish hotel. The room was perfectly quiet room, the breakfast good. The staff is very helpful and friendly. A perfect place for our time in Helsinki. When we return, we have no reason to look out for alternatives.
We arrived at the hotel at about 8am and they gave us an early check-in with a small charge. Check in process was smooth and the room on the ground floor was lovely and well furnished. Breakfast is nice, location is super and is walking distance to the main square. Staff is courteous as well. All in all, highly recommended.
My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights towards the end of April and beginning May. All I can say is that the hotel fully deserves the kudos it has got so far. Pros: - Great location - a short walk to the Esplandi for a choice of restaurants, shopping and the main sights. - Large, convenient, modern rooms - Friendly and helpful service. The reception desk also serves great coffee and functions as the bar in the evenings. Those at the reception were always so polite. - A super breakfast Suggested Improvements: - Pillows too soft. Can provide a pillow menu as done in some places. - Coffee machine in the rooms Anyone wanting to stay at Helsinki shouldn't look beyond this place. Keep it up, Fabian!
Pros: Very nice and clean rooms, supportive personell Cons: No view from rooms (5th floor with view to street looking directly into a company building), very narrow breakfast area and the breakfast is not good compared to other hotels in helsinki (not continental). Fabian did draft full stay at my credit card without my approval (booking.com did state a amount could be draw, but full payment is to be done at the hotel) And I wanted to pay on two cards (company/private), due to a mixed stay
To preface this review, when we travel we like to book rooms that we can return to during the day to relax and renew before going on to the next thing. We understand that's not everyone's style but it suits us. The Fabian was a perfect match. Wrapping up a four night stay in their Lux room at the back of the hotel with a small terrace overlooking the courtyard (pic on website). There was a small kitchenette, a Nespresso machine, dining table, sitting/living area and a comfortable king bed. Compact but incredibly well laid out. Good sized bathroom with plenty of counter space for both of us. The staff was faultless. Great help with reservations, recommendations, etc. In fact they were incredibly responsive by email in the weeks preceding our stay. Great location. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
I stayed at Fabian for 3 days with a friend. What can I say.. everything was just more than perfect- the check in, the staff, the breakfast, the location and the room was beautiful. It was pretty large and very tastefully done. There is a separate room for luggage, a nespresso machine, a microwave oven and sink. Loved the white brick wall on one side of the room. I won't even bother to look for another hotel in Helsinki.
