Even the outside of the entrance gives you an idea of what to expect. Complete and utter 5 star+ service. the room was spacious with everything needed the bathroom was in typical marble large and spacious. Nothing was too much trouble for the excellent staff. The bar was very welcoming and homely, and resturant was a delight and the food again was 5star+. Yes this is one of the worlds best hotels and certainly the best in Finland

Hotel Kamp is certainly the best situated hotel in Helsinki, just off the main thoroughfare. The interior of the hotel is nice, the food is good, the bar interesting, and the rooms well appointed. Unfortunately, the one item missing from Hotel Kamp is service. We stayed in the presidential suite, which was very nice, however, there were lots of small service activities that just didn’t happen, ones that you’d expect in this type of hotel and in this type of room, for example; we had our two children with us and camp beds were set up in the suite for them, but were never taken down during the day so you had to navigate around them in the middle of the lounge all day. We’d go out to explore the city in the morning and come back at lunch time to find our room hadn’t been cleaned so we had to request it and stay out of it till it was complete. When we ate in the dining room of the suite, the food and cutlery was delivered on a trolley, but never laid out on the dining room table, and never collected until the room was eventually cleaned the next afternoon. I’m very aware that these are very much ‘first world problems’ as they say, but I do think it’s worth sharing, as service is really what you’re paying for in the end of the day.

Beautiful and spacious rooms. Fabulous service throughout. My favorite bar in all Helsinki. Great central location. Great shopping and restaurants nearby. Awesome spa. Ranks very high in comparison to the best hotels in Scandinavia.

We stayed here for 3 nights ... it was an absolute delight, Our room was large and beautifully decorated with a stunning marble bathroom. Lovely comfortable bed and pillows. The brasserie & bar ... magnificent. Superb breakfasts. We had dinner there one night during our stay, very enjoyable. It really is the most fantastic place to stay, a real treat.

Booked this hotel as a short stop-over before heading north to Lappland. It is a charming hotel with good sized rooms for a city hotel. We both slept well and breakfast was done well with excellent service. Wi-fi worked well also. The location and charm are the biggest factors as to why we liked this hotel. It is close to shops and transport and the welcoming staff were excellent, especially their advice on touring the city.

When reading any reviews, one should always consider the source. In my case I am originally from Helsinki, I travel for a living routinely staying at higher-end hotels, and I am in a very high-level service industry. ...And that is exactly why it pains me to give Kamp a bad review. Good news - the staff is fantastic, friendly, helpful, and they make you feel welcome. Also the Kamp-bar is a great place to chill and have a cocktail, and the location of the hotel is perfect for exploring Helsinki with everything within walking distance. Bad news - both my wife and I had the worst night of sleep on the bed even though the beds are supposed to be new. The bed was so hard I had a backache the following morning and I woke up exhausted and irritated....Yet a great night's sleep is arguably the most important thing when staying at a hotel. Also the decor and the (executive) room itself seemed a bit dated. I kept thinking they should take lessons from other historic hotels, possibly the Four Seasons Istanbul or maybe even Bristol Hotel in Odessa. If one charges five-star rates, then one must also deliver, and very regretfully Kamp was somewhat of a disappointment for us both in that regard, When we returned to Helsinki we decided to stay at a different hotel in the same area.

A great luxury hotel in the heart of Helsinki. Comfortable bed, big bathroom great breakfast. Staff is professional and friendly. Executive room was spacious and beautiful. Spa was peaceful and clean.

A memorable stay in one of the timeless great hotels of the worlds. We had a suite, which was warm, comfortable, and completely soundproof. The bed was the best and most comfortable bed of our entire trip, and that's against some serious competition. The shower was likewise very good. I would return to Hotel Kamp purely for the breakfast. This is how you do a hotel breakfast! The hotel itself is old world elegance as are the staff. I'd recommend a stay here to aspiring hotel managers from other countries - this is a working example of getting things right. I recommend this hotel to tourists visiting Helsinki - and make sure you take breakfast in the hotel before going out for the day. The hotel is easy to get to from the airport and is walking distance from the train station.

I understand that this hotel is the best in Helsinki and is the only 5 star hotel in town, so I am told; however other 5 star hotels around the world would come in way ahead in terms of service quality and attentiveness. The hotel decor and room quality is certainly attractive. Its location is also very strategic in the heart of the city. I really do appreciate the quality of sound proofing level of the room which allowed me to sleep peacefully. The Front desk and concierge service level however were not at the global standard of 5 star hotel. We arrived at the hotel at 7.45am because our international flight landed in Helsinki at 5.45am but was told no room was available. The staff at the front desk just said to leave the luggage and come back at 12noon. Now, I do know that I am not entitled to early check-in and that it is at the discretion of the hotel. Least they could do was suggest how we could pass the time. I had to spend the next 10mins asking question after question to explore possibilities on what we could do, including asking if the hotel's restaurant was open; something I thought he should have automatically suggested. So we spent the next 1.5 hours in the hotel cafe having a slow breakfast while doing research via the internet using our handphones to figure out how to pass time time till 12 noon. Since we just got off a 12 hour flight we thought a massage would be great but was told the hotel spa only opens at 11am so we asked the concierge about nearby spas and while he was cordial he only proceeded to check whether the one I researched was open, which I already knew was open at 9am according to the internet. I was surprised he didn't offer to call to check whether we could get a massage and instead told us to walk over to the spa because its nearby. After a 5 min walk to the nearby spa in minus 5 degrees celsius light snowy weather, we were told that the spa massage therapists were fully booked. If only our concierge had called we could have saved ourselves the fruitless walk in freezing temperature. We tried another nearby spa but that was also full so we went back to the hotel to sit at the lobby and use our handphones to pass the time. At about 1030 my wife asked the front desk again whether our room would be available earlier and a lady at the front desk said that cleaning is ongoing and that it might be possible at 11am. At 11am the hotel front desk did not inform us whether the room was now ready and since they did not approach us we just assumed that the room was not ready. At 1130am I went to the front desk to ask and was told that there was indeed room ready for the room class we were booked on but they are willing to upgrade us to the next class of room but that room class was not cleaned yet and did not say when it would be ready. I was quite irritated by that time because the front desk staff were aware that we have been waiting for a very long while and were not proactive with keeping us informed of the progress when we were seated just 15 feet away. Worst part was the next morning at checkout I was told that I had to pay for breakfast the previous morning when I had already paid for it with my credit card. Very strange because I was told I couldn't charge it to the room because registration could not be done because the room was not ready. Good thing I kept the receipt to prove it. Another side note, the breakfast buffet is really limited. If I came back to Helsinki, I would definitely try a different hotel.

Admittedly, I have not been in other five-star hotels but this was definitely all I could hope for and more. Friendly service, clean room (with a bath!), good breakfast, wonderful Upper Lounge... It all just worked and I would definitely come back one day!
