Fantastic Location in Heidelberg

We hit the jackpot when we made a last minute reservation in Heidelberg. We knew we wanted to be in walking distance of the Christmas Markets and had no idea this building is so historic and the second most photographed building in Heidelberg. We were literally steps away from the Markets and all the shopping. The hotel itself is beautiful and our room was very comfortable. The only slightly annoying thing was it was difficult to find anyone at reception; it seems maybe there have a staff shortage. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Amazing history and perfect location!

This place is very old and was obviously renovated in the 90's and not much has been done since. However the staff is so nice, the history of the building and location cannot be beat! If you come and stay here, just know you will have to park in parking garage 12 and walk about 5 min to h hotel. I wish the room was a little bigger, a little more updated, and a little better stocked, but I would stay here again for sure!

I recently stayed at Hotel zum Ritter St. Georg in Heidelberg, and it was a delightful experience. The hotel is located in the heart of the old town, right next to the historic marketplace, with stunning views of the surrounding architecture. Its location is ideal for exploring Heidelberg’s landmarks, including the Heidelberg Castle and the Philosopher’s Walk, all within walking distance. The hotel itself is a beautiful historic building, full of charm and character. The rooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated, blending modern amenities with a classic feel. Despite the age of the building, everything was well-maintained, and the rooms were clean and cozy. The bed was very comfortable, and I appreciated the small touches like complimentary water and toiletries. The staff were warm and welcoming, providing excellent service throughout my stay. They were more than happy to offer tips on local attractions and dining options. Breakfast at the hotel was lovely, offering a variety of fresh and tasty options in a cozy, elegant setting. The restaurant also serves delicious traditional German dishes for dinner, and the ambiance is perfect for a relaxing meal after a day of sightseeing. Romantic, beautiful hotel in the heart of the Altstadt. If you get a room facing the front of the hotel, spectacular view of the cathedral. Great, friendly staff. Only negatives are that they do not have air-conditioned rooms and the bathroom (and shower) is tiny.

Being right in-front of the church in the old town square was great. Makes wondering around convenient and you feel you can see more as you are nearly always walking distance. The on-site restaurant had wonderful food, and the selection of beer and wine rounded out the evening. I have to say the staff was remarkable. Always so much fun having conversations about how they go through life and to see their impressions of America. Would highly recommend as the place to stay.

Heidelberg 2 nights

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in April 2024. This stop was part of our 2 week tour around Germany. The hotel Ritter has a lot of historic charm. It is well situated in the main square by the church. It is very close to the Rathaus bus stop, the funicular to the Heidelberg Castle, the river and old bridge and shopping and restaurants. The rooms are comfortable with lots of light. The bathtub is a bit hard to step in and out of. I do not recommend if you have mobility issues. The breakfast was good, service very good. I gave it 4 out of 5 because The elevator had a terrible damp smell.

The property is historic and amazing due to its heritage annd location. Our rooming the top floor and on the street side had great views. The room itself is small. WiFi was poor. Floors squealed badly. BUT this is an historic property and beautiful and in an amazing location. The location itself is worth the stay.
