I wrote a review of the JW Marriott Hangzhou a few years back, and called it the best hotel in Hangzhou. Now I am visiting Hangzhou frequently again, and am enjoying the JW all over again. What a fantastic hotel! The executive lounge is the best executive lounge in China. The exceptional executive lounge manager, Summer, leads a caring and efficient team that will help you with everything as they provide you a relaxed and delightful experience. The executive lounge food is delicious, the view of West Lake and the mountains is great, and the service is impeccable. I also very much enjoy the excellent fitness center, sauna, steam room, and pool. The guest rooms are very nice and open, with wonderful bedding and facilities. I also really like the huge selection and high quality of western and Chinese dishes at the buffet on the lobby floor. The service at every touch point in the hotel is outstanding. Within a few minutes walking to the hotel you can stroll along the beautiful grand canal which goes all the way to Beijing, and visit wonderful museums, including a fascinating Zhejiang history museum with many life size exhibits. If you have time, it is a short cab drive to beautiful Long Jing village in the mountain where you walk through the tea trees and at night visit the historical night market with ancient architecture. Hangzhou is a wonderful city, and the JW Marriott Hangzhou is the best hotel to help you enjoy it.

I went to visit Hangzhou with a friend and stayed in this beautiful hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious, breakfast/lunch/dinner is amazing and the help of all the employees: great! Wherever we wanted to go to they helped us out and when we came back they asked how our trip was. I work for an airline and know how it works: it’s the staff that makes the company! A special thanks to Dominic, his service was fantastic! We’ll be back for sure :)

I took my wife and daughter during Halloween, the treats were excellent, there were many themed desserts like a cake that looked like brain matter, skulls, eyeballs, fingers, test tubes of juice. The service was wonderful, all the staff were extremely nice and professional. The food was typical JW Marriot style, awesome sushi, crabs, very nice western food, burgers, steak, pizza, salad, the Chinese food was even better, crabs, dim sum, cooked dishes, and even noodles a la carte! Highly recommend, even if you don’t go during Halloween. The price is also extremely low considering how much you get!

RECOMMENDED: This property is co-located with the Courtyard (literally divided by a door) giving you 2 choices. Staff is very good and friendly (Marriott training is evident). Rooms and bedding are comfortable with plenty of lighting and amenities. Centrally located though I couldn't find decent restaurants within walking distance, however you are only a short cab ride to the sights. Don't dismiss the restaurant which on it's on gets high reviews (the Hong Kong restaurant at the Courtyard is also good). Meals at breakfast and dinner where quite good. Overall - good choice for Hangzhou.

Simply put, this was one of the best hotel experiences I have had. Chinese hospitality at its best. My wife and I, along with two children (12 and 9) were in Hangzhou to adopt our son (age 7). We stayed in an executive suite. The room was excellent. Hotel staff offered a complimentary cot to accommodate our family. The room was clean, bright, spacious and modern. Other reviews mentioned the rooms being "dated." Personal opinion, but I disagree. I quite liked the light airy feel with modern finishes. The pool and fitness facilities were very nice and also very clean. And Executive level breakfast, tea time and happy hour were all excellent and great for our family (something for everyone). A great value as well. And the hotel is in a great location in Hangzhou. But what made this hotel stand out and resulted in us enjoying our stay so much, was the level of service and hospitality: - Executive level staff (n particular Summer) were super friendly, pleasant and accommodating. They welcomed our family with open arms (literally) and made us feel like the hotel was a home away from home (a very nice touch as we welcomed a new member to our family). - When I inquired of availability of a cable to connect an IPad to the very nice flat panel TVs in the room so that the children could watch videos together, there were none available from the hotel, but one of the assistant managers personally arranged to find a cable for us to borrow for the duration of our stay. This was very much appreciated. - All staff were eager to be helpful and all had very strong English language skills. They welcomed with warm smiles every time we came and went. - It was my Birthday when we were there and the kids wanted me to have a cake. We went to dinner at Cru Steakhouse in the Hotel and the waitstaff provided a complimentary chocolate cake with a candle to honor my birthday. Then when we returned to the room, we found another birthday treat awaiting us in the room. Kids were very excited as well. - Frankly, we received much better service than we ever have in an American hotel of similar class. Outstanding! Only issues I could come up with if pushed (because the stay was nearly perfect) would be the following: - Room was advertised to have DVD players in room. While I know DVD players are becoming largely obsolete, we brought several DVDs for the kids to watch during downtime as American streaming services are generally unavailable. Turns out they have removed the DVD players from the rooms. Not a big deal (especially given the great service noted above to provide us an IPad to TV cable), but I would recommend fixing the Marriott room profile to be accurate as we relied on that in planning. - Automated coffee/latte/espresso maker in the Executive Level was broken for the duration of our stay. Instead, staff retrieved and served such drinks for guests, but the result was, through no fault of staff, some delay in timely receiving such drinks. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and thank the staff (especially Summer and Aurora) for their friendliness, professionalism and hospitality. Thank you for a wonderful stay and making our first few days welcoming our new son halfway across the world as comfortable as possible!

This is an excellent hotel for business Plus - 24 hour gym and 25m pool is good for sleepless jet lagged nights - food quality and choice at breakfast was excellent. Dinner in the lounge was OK (chicken in Thai curry was poor quality) - rooms are luxurious and comfortable. Excellent desk set-up and chaise longue - within running distance of the WestLake and nice immediate vicinity Negatives - bed had huge lumps in it. Something was wrong with the toppers on the mattress. I found an OK position to sleep in but always frustrating to find a room problem when you are ready to sleep - check out seemed smooth but was a mess-up. Put me in someone else’s taxi so ended up being brought back 5 mins later. Sadly they still hadn’t noticed at that point that they didn’t give me back my credit card. That took 30 mins to discover by which time it was too late. Had to be destroyed. Ugh. But certainly a nice property. It’s only Marriott Level 5 so rewards booking are good value compared to the paid rates (which are close to Shanghai prices rather than regional Chinese prices)

The hotel is beautiful. It is a 2 to 3 dollar cab from west lake and close to good shopping. Downside is not hotels fault but out of our 3 days stay west lake was smogged in and virtually unseeable. Only on Sunday was west lake moderately viewable. The hotel does a lovely breakfast buffet, with something for everyone including ice cream for breakfast if you desire.

The JW in Hangzhou is simply a great place to stay in Hangzhou. The rooms, although slightly dated, are great, and the location is absolutely excellent, but the staff and service is truly fantastic! I always feel "at home" when I arrive at the JW Hangzhou, where I have stayed several times. The breakfast buffet is among the best I've had, and the food in all the restaurants is categorically good. On my first visit my wife forgot an important prescription, and Tony and his concierge team went out of their way to actually accompany us to the hospital to interpret and help get a difficult (controlled substance) prescription filled. What an invaluable service! On my most recent visit, Jay (the Asia Bistro Manager) actual gave me his local cell phone number so I could text him my high-speed rail ticket so he could guild me to the correct gate and train car on my trip to Shanghai. Good old-fashion service that is just such a delight. Everyone really goes out of their way to help, and they are are extremely friendly doing so. It's such a pleasure to interact with so many wonderful people when traveling far from home. I cannot give a high enough recommendation to the entire team at the JW Marriott in Hangzhou - what a great place filled with wonderful people!

Stayed here during a business trip. Was worth every moment. The rooms ar spacious and cozy and welcoming. There's all you need and even more. Coffee machine, as an example. Staff is lovely and helpful and the location is very good. Would come back for sure.

Great service and well-maintained rooms under the JW Marriott branding in a location is a brisk 30 minute walk to the north-eastern edge of the renowned West Lake. And the walk is not boring as there are a lot of shops along the Wulin Road Commercial Street. It is also near the Wulin Square Metro Station for easy access, The Grand Canal and the Hangzhou Tower Shopping Mall. To get to the Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport you can just take an Airport Bus Service with a bus stop that is under 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Great service and food at the Club Lounge too.
