Starting with the positives:- Could not fault the room and bathroom. Customer service while checking out was first class. Nice touch the drinking water on each floor, more hotels should think about this. However, even though we were on the third floor it still felt like and sounded like we were in the middle of the many function rooms on the ground floor. Obviously if we had been attending these functions we would not have noticed, but we were not and had hoped for an early night!!!! As has already been mentioned the car park is a little tight so we decided to use the sea front for parking having arrived in the early evening. This was a good choice as parking is free from 6pm till 8am. Overall a hotel for mid week unless attending a function.
We attended a dance weekend last for three nights in March and had a fantastic time. It was organised by Isle of Wight Holidays. Ballroom was quite cold at first but if you are dancing it is ideal. Unfortunately I was unable to dance as I had a fractured arm but our whole party of 6 thoroughly enjoyed it. The food and staff were amazing and the rooms so spacious. We didn't have a full sea view but the room was very quiet and that was more important for us. the only downside was the shortage of parking but we arrived early and managed to park with no problem.
Stayed one night on both legs of a cross-Channel journey. I'd stayed before so knew what to expect. Still had a key card issue on one of the nights. The showers are still not great and I had to remove the bathroom mirror lightbulb as it was flickering constantly (rm117). However everything else I really like and I would definitely book again, especially at around £55 a night for a single room. The staff are great, dog is welcome, rooms are cosy, clean and I always appreciate the tea & biscuits after a long drive! And you are right on the beach, feels like holidays, perfect for walking and not far from the ferries.
Stayed for two days using it as a base for a visit to the Historic Dockyard. Had a sea view room on the third floor which gave good views of the South Parade Pier and activity on the Solent. The room was spacious with a very comfortable bed and good wifi access. We dined in the restaurant both evenings which offered a menu with plenty of choice. The buffet breakfast was very good with something to suit all tastes. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend this hotel.
My wife and I stayed here for one night before travelling to the Isle of Wight. The room we were allocated was small and overlooked the car park. When we mentioned it to the girls on reception we were immediately offered an upgraded room with a sea view. The staff were fantastic. We were made to feel like we were the most important guests in the hotel. The room was huge, clean and quiet. We had dinner in the restaurant which was superb, as was the sumptuous breakfast. We were so impressed we have already booked again for September before we sail to France. This is without doubt a great hotel with some of the best staff I have ever dealt with. So highly recommended.
Stayed here for 2 nights, and we could not fault a thing. The room was spotlessly clean..... The whole building is clean.... The staff are the friendliest we have come across in any Hotel chain we have stayed in before and couldn't do enough for us. It has a lovely bar with bar food and view to the sea and the bar staff again were top notch, especially Sandy who is the hub of the place and so friendly. We had dinner in the onsite restaurant and were certainly not disappointed.... food amazing and the waiting staff wonderful. This is most certainly one Hotel we would re-visit and would wholeheartedly recommend to others too. It does allow dogs if you want to take your pet pooch.
we had a wonderful wedding with reception here and cannot recommend it highly enough. The Ark Royal room was beautiful, the food fantastic - both the wedding breakfast and the evening buffet. The bride felt really special and nothing was too much trouble for the team that ran the event and the staff generally in the hotel. It was also excellent value for the number of things provided and certainly helped the stress levels. In particular we loved the honeymoon suite which provided a great space for bride and bridesmaids to get ready. The ceremony itself was in a beautiful room and it was really great not to have to transport everyone from somewhere else.. We just had a short walk down the corridor to have our meal. This could not have been a better venue to have such an important celebration..
Another fantastic carvery lunch at the Royal Beach. Food was excellent, staff are pleasant and helpful, carvery chef is always a delight and generous. Nice to have well cooked veg that isn't dried out. Great called for money. Can't recommend it enough.
Very easy to find on the seafront with great views of the pier and promanade. Staff pleasant easy check and out. Bar quite small, but good seating area. There was a bigger celebration going on and they opened another room for evening meal, but it did seem a bit hapharard and it wasn't that warm and the atmosphere was a bit disengaged, but it was low season. Parking area very small and cramped. The rooms were spacious and ours overlooking the front was great and comfortable and very clean.
Friendly helpfull staff! Superb breakfast! Ideal location for walks by the beach and front room with amazing view! The hotel is full of history too, check thepictures at the walls, the queen and beatles were there!
