We booked a meal in the iBis restaurant using the First Table reservation offer. We were surprised at how small the restaurant was and it felt more like dining in a reception area, but I guess this is because its part of a larger hotel complex. The menu was not very extensive but food was very nicely presented and the service was very friendly. My beetroot fritter were quite delicious. However, the thing which surprised us was how small the portions were, first time my husband has left a restaurant feeling so hungry! Not sure we would be back as prices were high but portions so small, not offering value for money (unless you book using a First Table discount)
Pubes on floor in bathroom. Unclean loo & poop stains in bowl. Felt like was in prisoner having my car keys taken by staff. We were not able to come and go to visit our friends and family without permission to leave
Very nice venue with views over the river. However very disappointed in the quality of the food. Meal was not kept warm. No variety for people with dietary needs. Our meal consisted of luke warm fish and chips, some green salad (that was nice) and some cold stodgy potato salads, mainly potato, a tomato soup which tasted like tomato sauce (glad I only took a small serving) and a little bread roll, a piece of hard bread with some strange tasting meat on top, looked horrible and a small cold tart, shortbread with some very sweet hard custard substance inside with a strawberry and blueberry on top. I was looking forward to this meal but I can safely say that I will never eat here again. Very disappointing. I expected much better quality of food. It seemed very cheap. I expected much better. I went home feeling like eating something nice to make up for the horrible meal I had just had.
This was an excellent option for a quick trip in Hamilton. Great location. Great service. Great room. It seems that I am exaggerating but it was an excellent option. It seems that Ibis is putting a lot of work in creating a nice experience for customers and they really deliver!
We are travelling through New Zealand, and at first this hotel seemed disappointing after the previous places we had stayed- everything was clean and functional, but quite basic and compact. However, we were impressed with the helpfulness of the staff, both on reception and in the restaurant. The food in the restaurant was good and well priced.
Good service, good but expensive breakfast, clean comfortable bed, shabby decor in room. Paint peeling in bathroom, carpet bare at seams. Very noisy from other guests ( and fridge, which we turned off), walls seem paper thin.
A very nice property...good value and excellent views over the river...staff were most helpful and considerate...the valet parking worked well. Normally stay at a Novotel but thought we would try the Ibis as its location was adjacent to the Novotel.
This hotel has a good location being situated in Hamilton CBD. Although our room was quite small it was adequate. Rooms were at a comfortable temperature, with nice decor. Bed was comfortable and shower/bathroom was very clean. However there was an annoying noise ( from the air conditioning?) which kept waking us during the night. The most annoying part was parking. $20 for parking at the hotel!! Is this nz or not?? We refused to pay that much and parked some 10 minutes walk away on a public street. We won't stay again.
This is not the first time I have stayed here. The hotel itself is fine - has a restaurant and bar and outlook over the Waikato river out back. The team are helpful and quick in service, the only Issue is the size of the rooms, they are very small.
Great parking even with my trailer, I was allowed to just leave it at the front. Good meal, good room, great service etc. friendly bar staff. Breakfast was good too but he coffee machine wasn’t working damn it. looking forward to staying again!
