Spacious room with view of the river--an ever changing scene fog, sunshine and in between.Friendly staff. Valet parking at a cost but necessary if in a car. Handy for shopping in the CBD and access to the river walkway. Food good for dinner and breakfast.
Our legal team regularly stays at Tainui Ibis. Check in was efficient, room was clean, very comfortable bed, and the food was lovely. I was happy with my stay until I realised I left my (new) white cropped blazer in the room. I called and was advised nothing had been handed in by house keeping and that was the end of that. I never got a call back. Very disappointing.
We stayed Saturday nite, have to say all the staff I happened to come across were all happy, smiling and very willing to assist! I have stayed a number of times here but my experience this times was outstanding, very pleasant and topped off with an upgrade to Riverview and a lovely fresh fruit platter to welcome us in. I look forward to my next visit.
This hotel is very tired counter staff not helpful young man very abrupt but rest of staff were great very friendly food at the hotel restaurant was great nice meal rooms very tired but bed was comfortable as I wasn't paying top dollar it was ok. Very central to city I would stay again just good 4 overnights
I had a pleasant check in on Friday afternoon and after reading other comments on here I asked for a high floor to avoid excessive noise from other rooms. The room I was given was on the top floor with a nice outlook over Hamilton. The room (774) had all the amenities I expected. It was clean and comfortable. I had a good nights sleep, the bed was very comfortable and it was nice and quiet. Saturday night however was a different story. The room next to me (773) must have hosted some very talkative guests who would not shut up the entire night. This was topped by the guests in (778) who went in and out of their room, every time slamming their door and having discussions in the corridor outside the rooms. I finally dosed off just after midnight only after been woken again at 3am when some of the people in 778 left, slamming the door. By the time I would have called reception to complain and someone would have come up it would have been too late. I finally had enough at 5am when the talking next door intensified and called reception to complain. The receptionist came up, I invited him into the room to listen for himself. He could clearly hear the noise and told me that it was a very busy night with people coming into town. He did knock next door and must have asked them to keep the noise down. I finally dosed off again and had 3 hours of uninterrupted sleep. So next time I would ask for a room without interconnecting doors and I will ring reception immediately if I am bothered with noise even though to problem might have passed by then....
the hotel is right next to the river and the rooms on that side have lovely views over the river and city (at least from floor 4). very clean and tidy, fast check in and out. Parking valet. The restaurant/breakfast area looks over the river which is nice. Only down side... wifi is not free and costs $10 for < Gb I think... a bit sad for a big chain like that.
Ibis hotel is very centrally situated by the Waikato river with pleasant view of the water. Not the easiest of hotels to find and valet parking is the best option as the frontage is not huge. Car parks nearby if you do not wish to pay $20 per night for the parking, however the easiest option by far. I stayed there two nights in a standard twin room, it was comfortable although rather cramped. The hotel is obviously suited to business rather than tourism but the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast included in the price could not be faulted and the evening meals of high standard. Very small bathroom with shower.
Great location right across the road from the Centre Plaza Mall and everything was great! It had gym, restaurant in Hotel (very convenient), lovely paid parking, lovely views of the Hamilton River and the Hotel is in the heart of the shopping centre which is very very handy for shopping. Hamilton Casino is next door and that is why this Hotel is the best to stay at Hamilton.
Good welcome and service, tidy and quiet room, nice outlook over river and town. Bathroom a bit small but tidy. Great selection for buffet breakfast. Easy relaxed stay no hassles. Will definitely book again. Overall outstanding value
Really helpful and friendly easy going staff. Good location etc. Unfortunately there was a school hockey team staying. As kids are, they are not quiet, and while asking them to tone it down a few times, and they did for a while, realistically the hotel should plan much more carefully which floors they put guests vs schools in these situations. As a LeClub cardholder, I think it is not an unreasonable suggestion.
