Our room at the Ibis Hamilton was large with a very comfortable bed, although the bathroom is small, it was adequate for our 1 night stay, both rooms were very clean. Check-in was efficient and staff are very friendly. We dined at I-Bistro and must say the quality of my Lamb Ragu Pappardelle was excellent. Happy Hour is from 5 to 6pm daily. Valet parking costs $20NZD.
Clean room, comfy bed, friendly staff. No free wifi though, which is a let down. In room wifi was available on a paying package, but opted not to. I ate in the restaurant, lemon & mustard marinated chicken was fantastic. Breakfast was ok. Parking is not free, and it costs $20.
We only stayed one night on our way back to Auckland. Valet parking quite expensive at $20 per night but we didn't fancy searching around for a car park in the city. Reception on first floor next to the bar and restaurant, which has lovely views over the river. Our room was fine, clean with a comfortable bed and tea making facilities. Nice walk along by the river and over to the memorial gardens. We didn't manage to get as far as the Botanic Gardens. A good choice of hotel if you need a central base in Hamilton
This was just what we needed after a day at Hairy Feet and Hobbiton. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The food was pretty good as well. It's in a great location in Hamilton on the main street on one side and the Riverwalk on the other side. There's no free parking at the hotel, so it's worth paying the extra $20 for valet parking. I recommend this hotel!
Stayed here for one night while on a rugby trip, the staff were attentive to get me checked in but then failed to provide any information as to room location, restaurant , breakfast. I had to ask for valet parking. The room was standard Ibis style with small bathroom. There were far to many room cards scattered all over the place advising on different policies and the like. Facilities in the room were comfortable other than the pillows which lacked any sort of loft.
We booked a 3-night stay at the hotel online and took advantage of the discounted pre-booked meal offer. The 2-course meal plus drink was excellent value and delicious. The location of the hotel is central - an easy walk into the centre of Hamilton as well to the beautiful Waikato riverside walking path. The room was clean, tidy and comfortable. The breakfast buffet (also part of the online package) was good and we enjoyed the option of sitting on the dining area's outside balcony and watching the commuters come across the bridge into the city.
the room was what you would expect from any hotel....but was dirty in the bathroom. the guest card had been filled out by the people who stayed before us and the welcome pack had food stains/ maybe blodd on it
First, -- let me say that most of the staff at this hotel are lovely and most helpful. So, all the more shame that this property needs HELP. So many fundamental things are wrong w/ this Ibis Hamilton Tainui that need NOT be. #1 The elevators in this hotel look like grungy elevators in a urban blight project. Change the crappy carpets, fill the holes, paint the walls! #2 The florescent lights in the rooms are OTToo much light by far. And there's no way to turn on a nice in-room night-light that does not make the room look like a Toledo Dunkin Donuts @ 2am. #3 I went out for the day and when the room was cleaned and the air was left on at a chill temp. Upon my return my room was ice COLD. I could not for the life of me get the thermostat to turn to heat. I got under the blankets. #4 After a long day, I simply wanted room service...there is none. Guests come down to pick up their own trays...REALLY?? -- and my sandwich and fries were the most unappetizing looking, and tasting meal that I have been given from a (supposed) restaurant kitchen in years. I was appalled. After looking at it for 15 minutes, I took it back downstairs & absolutely embarrassed whomever was on duty by giving it back. ALL 4 of these negatives could be dealt with & managed. SO, why not?
I hate to say it but it fell very short of what was to be expected of a hotel of this reputation, some helpful staff but not many, the room not too clean and the breakfast was quite bad . The valet took well over 30 mins but there were other guests waiting a lot longer than us .
My company booked me in here for my 2nd Night in Hamilton I spent the night before at the sister hotel the Novotel, pricier and bigger. I checked in and left my bag earlier but was told I could check in my room as it was ready The room itself was smaller than the novotel but that didn't bother me. The first thing I noticed when I walked in my room was the freshly laundered bedding. Very nice! Never smelt that before in any hotel room. The bed was comfy enough and I had a pretty good sleep. My view overlooked the river, so a nice view. Very quiet. Ordered room service when I first arrived in my room. I was explained I had to pick up my food which I didn't have an issue with. When I did return to my room however my card had stopped working. Luckily one of the cleaners let me in. The food was very tasty. Had the nachos earlier on and in the morning had the breakfast. I parked my car downstairs however it wouldn't start when I tried to pick it up. Battery had died. Not a problem for the helpful guys on the desk. They all quickly came to my aid to get my car going. Thanks for the help boys. Overall a pleasant night and I have to say out of the two hotels, I actually preferred the IBIS over the Novotel anyway the staff seemed friendlier and the service was better.
