We had a very pleasant 2-night stay at Ashwood Manor with out 10 year old son. We had one spa room with a king bed and single bed with kitchenette (great kitchen facilities). There was plenty of space and the room had all the amenities we required. The room was lovely and well presented with nice finishing touches and attention to detail. Hotel and room were very neat and clean with good beds/bedding. Free Wifi was great. Service was friendly and efficient. Great location - close to shops and lake. Bathroom was spacious with huge spa. Jets were a bit too strong in spa. Shower was small but flow was good. Thanks for a very comfortable stay.
This motel is located a short walk from the city centre, in a side street. Very friendly service, spacious room. Everything was clean and tidy and more than adequate for an overnight stay. Recommended.
We are from the US and stayed between Christmas and New Year's. Used Hamilton as a jumping-off point for visits to the Glowworm cave and Hobbiton. Nice, central location. The rooms were exactly as promised. Very large with kitchen amenities. It seemed like a safe area and within walking distance to many restaurants and the riverfront. The staff was very friendly and brought our breakfast in the AM at the time we specified. One universal outlet per room.
i had stayed for one day at the hotel in Hamilton for Xmas trip. Staff here is Very Nice and friendly. Room was clean and tidy. Easy check out and check in. 3 minutes to Park n Save supermarket. Highly recommend!! Also price is good.
So quiet and peaceful. I was able to completely relax in my lovely clean, spacious room. The bed and pillows were so comfortable and the jetted bath was awesome! I found the room and bathroom to be very well presented and stocked with everything I could possibly need (including a coffee plunger!). The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and I can’t wait to stay here again. Highly recommended!!!
Very poor service and difficult to communicate because of the poor level of English spoken by all staff. Old tired decor, but not the worst around. Just obvious cheapness all around. The service really was bad and not sympathetic to our needs.
I first stayed at the Ashwood Manor 14 years ago, at the time on a regular basis as I would study on block courses in Hamilton. Back then the Ashwood Manor was well cared for, the owners were humble and you could tell they were proud of their establishment but the years have taken it's toll and I believe new ownership hasn't helped. The rooms were clean but in need of TLC and a refresh. Unfortunately not the home away from home I had remembered from my youth.
Centrally located, with an easy walk to the centre of Hamilton and to the restaurant and pub precinct. We only stayed the one night, but the room was clean and quite spacious. The spa was a nice extra, but its quite noisy. Service is good - note that they send you a text in the morning of your arrival asking you to confirm your booking and give an estimated arrival time. We will consider staying again next time we are in Hamilton.
I have booked a basic unit for $140 without spa for our weekend stay in Hamilton and I would say that in comparison to other offers in this value range Ashwood is the winner. The first impression was not really good as we had really loud music reproduction from our neighbours to welcome us but we had not much time and had to go and attentnour Sat program. When we got back at around midnight, premises were silent and we’ve had finally some time to have a look around. Rather old plastic key card, cracks inside shower and hold-to-work hairdryer all suggested this place got some memories. On the other side I do not mind old style as long as it’s clean and works fine. The room was really huge and included table with chairs, two beds (including one double), large drawers, small bedside tables, walk-in wardrobe, completely equipped kitchen, TV and some more tables screwed to the wall. Bathroom was also spacious and provided all we needed. The only disappointment we’ve had was breakfast. It’s not included and we have paid roughly $27 for breakfast for two (French style) only to get an old and really hard croissant, watery yoghurt and banana with sour tangerine. Fruit was okay but the rest was a joke. If I ever stay there again (which I would not mind), definitely skip the breakfast and rather go to the nearby city centre which is rich on cafes.
We were in a dark, small unit. At $147.00, with no spa bath, we didn't think it was value for money. Certainly there are issues with the plumbing, as we heard the spa baths operating in the units around us. The hairdryer was the old fashioned wall model - very sporadic to operate, as you had to hold down a button, while also holding the dryer. The ground coffee was a nice touch though.
