I have booked a basic unit for $140 without spa for our weekend stay in Hamilton and I would say that in comparison to other offers in this value range Ashwood is the winner. The first impression was not really good as we had really loud music reproduction from our neighbours to welcome us but we had not much time and had to go and attentnour Sat program. When we got back at around midnight, premises were silent and we’ve had finally some time to have a look around. Rather old plastic key card, cracks inside shower and hold-to-work hairdryer all suggested this place got some memories. On the other side I do not mind old style as long as it’s clean and works fine. The room was really huge and included table with chairs, two beds (including one double), large drawers, small bedside tables, walk-in wardrobe, completely equipped kitchen, TV and some more tables screwed to the wall. Bathroom was also spacious and provided all we needed. The only disappointment we’ve had was breakfast. It’s not included and we have paid roughly $27 for breakfast for two (French style) only to get an old and really hard croissant, watery yoghurt and banana with sour tangerine. Fruit was okay but the rest was a joke. If I ever stay there again (which I would not mind), definitely skip the breakfast and rather go to the nearby city centre which is rich on cafes.
We were in a dark, small unit. At $147.00, with no spa bath, we didn't think it was value for money. Certainly there are issues with the plumbing, as we heard the spa baths operating in the units around us. The hairdryer was the old fashioned wall model - very sporadic to operate, as you had to hold down a button, while also holding the dryer. The ground coffee was a nice touch though.
Great communication by management, and very well appointed room and ensuite. Top location in Hamilton and so easy to all amenities. Every comfort, good TV and wifi. Clean and attractive. Good lighting. Thank you for a relaxing stay.
Had the most relaxing time and enjoyed the hot tub. Friendly reception. A definite place to visit when you go to Hamilton. Close (1km) from Victoria road where you can enjoy food and drink and vibrant atmosphere.
We stayed here for just one night. Everything was pleasant enough. Very basic but so is the price. Very close to city centre. Would recommend for couples or families visiting Hamilton for a weekend or night :)
Stayed for one night. Got there at 9 pm and the staff were very helpful. They offer milk and ground coffee. The kitchen is pretty complete and I found it very practical. The bathroom is quite spacious however, the shower is very tiny so I kept hitting the walls (mind you, I'm tiny). They offer liquid soap, conditioner and shower cap. The bedroom is quite spacious too the only complaint I have, and I am not even certain if it was plumbing or the heater from the upstairs neighbour, but it was a bit noise at one point. Again, it could've been the noisy upstairs neighbour with the hairdryer?!lol pretty annoying though. there's free parking.
We booked through expedia and were allocated room number 1, close to the office. We were greeted on arrival at reception with a gentleman who was oozing in excellent customer service and efficiency. The room was of a very high standard witha wall central heating unit. The cooked and continental breakfast was wery well done and presented. On this visit and because of the reception we received I would highly recommend Ashwood Manor to all travellors to Hamilton N.Z. On arrival, I inspected the room and found it more than satisfactory. I always inspect first before staying so there is no MOANING AFTERWARDS.
We chose here as it had an in room hot tub. That was great. Great pressure in shower too.The position of Ashwood is a little noisy as it's close to a main roundabout so if you are a light sleeper don't stay here. No power point close to mirror for hair straightener so bring an extension lead. Overall clean and tidy and adequate with bedding folded back daily which was also nice.
Ashwood Manor is probably my favorite place to stay in Hamilton. It is the most central hotel that I could find that had free parking. Rooms are nice, very large, and includes a small kitchenette. The beds are comfy and they will grind you fresh coffee beans for your morning java. Spa tubs are available in some rooms. The bathrooms and showers are really good. The office staff is always welcoming and friendly, and have been good with recommendations for places to eat. The location is fantastic, very close to the very happening live music scene in Hamilton. It is a quick walk home from Hood Street and Victoria Street. Wi-Fi works great. Lots of little extras at this sweet small motor inn.
Dirty Bathroom with mouldy shower. Dirty stained off white towels that stunk strongly of bleach. Filthy floor with stains. The toilet paper holder is large and bulky like those in a public toilet and its right beside the toilet! No heatpump,no heater, no electric blanket. Freezing cold room. Noisy fridge.. Rude receptionist . Parking is pot luck with no allocated parking per room, parking spaces are small and very few are suited to larger vehicles like utes.. After long days at the hospital it was all I needed to get back to motel each night and find there was nowhere to park, and office only open from 8am until 8.30pm. Wifi not worth bothering with. Definitely won't ever go back.
