This property was in shockingly poor condition and posed multiple safety hazards. When we arrived, we found the smoke alarms had been ripped from the ceiling and were sitting on top of the fridge, rendering them useless — a clear violation of fire safety laws. One of the living room chairs collapsed under my senior stepfather due to faulty assembly, causing him to fall. The owner then had someone quickly come in and replace the chair... with another broken chair! The coffee maker was full of old, moldy coffee, which made it clear the unit hadn’t been properly cleaned. We also found windows that didn’t open, torn screens, and a bed with broken slats. These conditions violate multiple Halifax building and fire codes, including By-law M-200 and the Nova Scotia Fire Safety Regulations.I'm tempted to report this property to VRBO and local authorities. Until these issues are addressed, I would strongly advise others not to stay here.
