I know the hotel has a refurbishment plan coming, but having been there 30+ years ago, I think it is well overdue (and actually been promised many times in the past). The hotel, lobby and restaurant are so dated that one day it may become trendy and quirky, but for now, it is very poor. The rooms are a good size, but that's all the positives that can be said. Carpets are worn and stained, bathrooms are old and tired and the corridors and housekeeping are poor. Having said that, the pool area, tennis courts, grounds and outside facilities are exceptionally good and go some way towards making our stay a good one.
I've been in the hotel with the family, all in all good experience including kids club and pool part. Dining room is OK, not more than that, price of dinner is very high and also one time during breakfast burned pancakes have been served. The whole hotel including rooms is quite old looks like haven't been constructed for a decade, anwyay pool part and garden are very well maintained and looks they have been renovated recently.
Some of The five star hotels we have stayed out here in Israel should take A leaf out of this hotels book. The staff here are well trained so helpful and well mannered. Rooms airy towels big soft and fluffy . Down side it does need a bit of t l c decor wise and upgrade the sun beds with cushions . Other wise can't fault
Check in was excellent. The hotel is beautiful and quiet. The restaurant has an excellent buffet. Nice coffee shop in lobby. Need cab to go anywhere. Nice pool. Rooms very spacious and beds comfy. Balcony in every room. Some have great views to water and others to property. Hope this helps. David G.
When I got out of my car and looked at the hotel from the outside my first impressions were poor and I was concerned by what looked like a run down 1970s hotel. We came to check-in and went to our room which still looked like it was out of the 1970s with a bedside table that had an in-built radio and very noisy air con. I was concerned. However, after a few hours I started to realise just what an amazing hotel this was! Even though rooms are in need of renovation, they are large and comfortable. However, the main gems of this hotel are the outdoor space, food and the staff. The outdoor pool area is amazing!!! The pool (also quiet relaxation adult pool and small kids pool) are large enough that even when the hotel is busy doesn't feel crowded and the pool has its own Basketball net to play water basketball. The pool is surrounded by loungers and then lots of grass area so you can have quiet private space or space for kids to play. There are also table tennis tables, 5-a-side football/ basketball court, tennis courts, full size football pitch, kids play area with crazy golf, pool bar and restaurant. There were loads of staff to help set chairs up and make sure everyone was comfortable and complimentary ice drinks offered around mid-day. Particular thanks and credit to Muhammad by the pool. He went out of his way to ensure we were taken care of and were having a great time. He was amazing! The hotel also has a good kids club which had play stations, arts and crafts and other activities. They also ran 3 or 4 activities throughout the day which were all included and our son had a great time here. Food in the hotel was amazing and so were all the staff serving it. There was an extensive dairy and meat room service menu which was reasonably priced. There is also a dairy lobby bar for lunch and dinner and a meat dining room which had excellent choices from a buffet each night. BBQ nights were especially good!! Most of the staff in the hotel really just wanted to please and make us feel at home, but two really stuck out; Mohammed by the pool and Sarah at Reception. They really would have done anything to help us. I understand that the hotel is closing later this year for refurbishments. I know these are needed, but really hope you will be open again by next summer as we definitely want to return!! A great hotel experience once you look past the cracks!!!
The service was excellent and the staff pleasant and helpful. The hotel rooms are spacious and the grounds are good for wandering round The rooms are a little tired but I have been told that renovation is happening after August
My wife and I decided to spend a little extra on a 2-day vacation and go to the Dan Caesarea. The moment we entered our room our hearts dropped. It felt unclean. There was bird's muck along the balcony (see photo) which along with dirty windows and mess that had not been cleaned. I asked management for a different room. I was told they were full but could offer a down-grade. I was also told by the manageress that it's an old hotel and all rooms are like that. (Why didn't their prices reflect that I thought). I was shown a smaller room with a toilet in a small cubicle with no windows. We decided to stay put. The manager, who claimed we couldn't get a refund nor be relocated, apologized and offered us a fruit platter and a free dinner. We accepted hoping that we would start to settle-in and feel better. Returning to our room we noticed more dirt. Hair on towels (photo), squashed insects on walls (photo) and dust on the kettle and phone (photo). The hotel had clearly cut corners. I wanted out. I approached reception the next morning at 7:00am hoping to make a clean break and start enjoying our holiday. I wanted a full refund. Only a manager could decide I was told. Management turned up at 9:00am. This time the manager was rude and aggressive. He offered us a 25% refund. No! $240 for a filthy unhygienic room was unacceptable to me. They would not budge. We left without breakfast, spent our last day in another hotel where we had an amazing time.
Good breakfast. Bed was not very good. The 3rd person, who paid full price, had to sleep on a very uncomfortable sofa. Check the small print on you order, they slashed me with an extra taxation after telling me that I didn't have to pay anything extra.
Hotel is a bit old-fashioned, yet quite clean and the rooms are quite large. Front desk and dining room service were prompt and courteous. The bed was very comfortable, and we could see the sea from the balcony. Food was delicious, but we were surprised that no wine was offered at dinner (although when prodded, the waiter did offer two choices, and quoted a price).
We stayed at the Dan for a wedding in Caesarea. We loved the pool area: it's large and peaceful (they even have an adults-only section with chairs in the water), and they provide giant towels that cover the chair, which was a nice touch we didn't see anywhere else. The breakfast was extensive and delicious, and included espresso drinks, not just plain hot coffee. It's pretty well located if you're spending time in Caesarea, just a few minutes to the ruins and restaurants on the water. The rooms are very large, and the balconies are nice. However, the rooms are also in desperate need of a renovation, the bathroom in particular. The toilet is a true W.C.--a separate closet that just fits the toilet, and you then have to exit it, walk back into the bedroom, and loop around into the sink/shower room. There's plenty of space in there for a toilet so it's unclear why it was designed this way. The hairdryer is also that ancient tube kind that looks like a vacuum. The layout is generally strange, both of the room and the hallways. This would be the perfect place to escape and relax if the rooms were modernized!
