We recently stayed at the hotel for four nights. I was annoyed with the whole reservation process to begin with. I had three different reservation agents quote three different rates for the same period of time for the same room. Don't they talk and agree on the same rates? One quoted me about 1/3 higher rates than were listed on their own website. When I finally had that sorted, I had to chase them forever to get the confirmation letter, even though I had sent all of my credit card details including a copy of back and front and a reservation letter as well. FINALLY the DAY BEFORE our flight, we got the written confirmation but only because my husband called them! Talk about great customer service: We physically have to call them in Thailand from our home in Singapore! If it hadn't been the day before our flight, I would have canceled and would have opted for a far more service-oriented hotel. I had never happen anything like this before! When we arrived, the extra bed we had requested for our daughter was not even set up and we had to wait for quite some time. There was also nobody upon arrival to help with our luggage or to greet us at the door. I understand this is not a luxury hotel, but still. We also didn't get any wet towels or refreshments which we later saw were presented to other guests upon their arrival. We asked the concierge for help with our suitcases after check-in, as we had a room in the garden wing across the street. Took forever to get our belongings, but since we had to wait for the extra bed to be set up, it was just as well. The room was fine for a couple of nights, the kingsize bed was quite spacious and comfy, albeit it had two separate mattresses. The bathroom was fine, separate bathtub and shower. However, there weren't very many amenities. Housekeeping was not good at all. There were hairs in the bathtub, the toilet was only superficially cleaned, liquid soap and toilet paper not replaced regularly, surfaces not wiped down, etc. Pool and beach area were nice and the service by the pool was quite friendly. Not so much at reception though! Breakfast was good, but a bit repetitive. Same spread day after day, I imagine after a few days you'd get tired of it. Also disappointed with the Asian choices, barely any options for Chinese, Malay and Indian dishes, same 3 dishes day in, day out. It does get busy at breakfast time, but staff were coping quite well. What shocked me though was that there were huge crowds of Israeli tourists and they loaded their plates as if there was no tomorrow and left it all without barely touching it. What a waste! Shameful. The same people did that every day! Also one lady (using that term very loosely) packed food in her backpack for her four boys as if there was a famine breaking out. She made sandwiches, spread butter and jam on croissants, packed donuts, muffins, etc. for a family of FIVE altogether and put it all in her backpack. She also had a huge plate of scrambled eggs, took one bite, didn't like it and spat it back on the plate....while standing up, for all to see. Gross! This is were staff or management should step in, it was disgraceful. Told a waiter to get a supervisor, but he just watched and said/did nothing and let her pack all that food away. Some of those 'guests' even got take-out from McDonald's and Starbucks and ate at the bistro tables at the beach cafe. Unbelievable! Not to mention the rowdy behaviour in the pool. Sorry to say, but the behaviour of some of those really impacted our holiday. Location is good, but I wouldn't stay there again.
A Wonderful holiday, hotel, staff and food were outstanding. Pregos restaurant was brilliant. Sunbeds & Pool are very clean. Beach area and sand was awesome. Service in general 1st class. The hotel bus for guests was available and sister hotel was of equal standard. Highly recommend.
My niece & I recently spent 8 nights at the Amari in the Thai Village wing, from airport pickup to check out we couldn’t fault our stay, our room was clean, comfortable, quiet & private, the resort is beautifully kept & inviting, breakfast buffet more than adequate, Breeze spa relaxing & very professional, we ate at Prego & Amaya, both lovely but what made our stay more than anything was the staff, everyone we encountered was so wonderful, friendly & seemed genuinely interested in our stay & how our trip was going, we felt so welcome! Thank you to all at Amari for making our stay great & keep up the amazing work, Amanda & Becky
Great Family resort. We booked their Family package which includes round trip airport transfer and other discounts. An Amari staff was holding sign board with our name at airport's meeting point as we wheel out of trolley, very efficient. Room - We had a duplex room in Garden Wing, close enough to the kids club and we didn't have issue walking across the road to the other side of the hotel, with guards to stop traffic for you to cross the road . Rooms are kind of at the smaller scale but we enjoyed it. Bathroom sometimes has sewage smell, but overall rooms are in good condition. Restaurant - Buffet breakfast is good, western and Asian food available that suits everyone's taste. Prego their Italian restaurant is good, we dine a few nights. Amaya is our favorite, we had a few days didn't leave the resort so breakfast, lunch, dinner we ate at Amaya. They provide authentic Thai dish but also pizza, sandwiches. Swimming Pool - Although our room located in Garden Wing, we found it more convenient using the other swimming pool which is located by the beach and the Amaya Restaurant. Plenty of sun lounges and café/beach at your foot step. The other pool has staff around for drinks etc, but the atmosphere is different. Kids Club - Our two kids did enjoyed their time there, Wii_U, PS4, plus other kids craft to enjoy. cost 100-300 Baht on craft activities. I would suggest kids club for under 10. My daughter enjoyed their craft activities otherwise not able to stay over an hour. Breeze Spa - Price acceptable but technique not so thai. Plus next door building had continuous drilling work, was hard to enjoy. Hotel Location - Very handy. Away from the busy Cheweng area, close enough if you need to head out for a walk, shops, restaurant a short 5-10 mins walk. Down the road around 300 meters there is Herb spa, 300Baht for foot and 500 Deep Thai massages, they are very good. Laundry service also available at 45Baht per kilo. 7-11 convenient store on the main strip. We find it nice to be able to get out but no need to use taxi. Be mindful at check out to check your charges. Our package offered 20% off food, drinks and massages. The night before check out I went to see reception to enquire about the 20% off our bill. She told me will be ready the next day. In the morning I went back, checked and no discount through the whole stay. The attitude of reception (Stamp?) was a little rude, maybe her English wasn't so good but the attitude I got was 'pay it!!'. I asked her again to check with management as we are entitled to 20% off our bill. We spend 17,000 Baht for food/drinks/massages in total. It is not about the money, it is about the staff should try their best to assist guests. and they should honor it as this is the package I bought. Overall - we are happy at Amari, but will look else where next time.
This is our 4th time at the Amari and something took a turn to the worst. I think it's mainly management related. Our checking experience, the overall way the team deals with problems, the quality of the food in the breakfast and the speed the buffet is refilled and the room maintenance all these were well below the normal standard we used to get at the Amari. Unfortunately this was our 4th and last visit. We won't be coming back.
After Phuket next was Koh Samui we arrived at Hotel around 11.00 we had to wait as the room was getting ready till then we were viewing the property it was just amazing. Room was spacious and was equipped with all the amenities. The only negative was there was no waves upon inquiry came to know that waves forms only from November to March.
We stayed at the Amari with our 2 kids(8yo and 11 yo) in October 2017. The hotel was amazing value for money, as we booked a package with meals and massages included. The breakfast buffet was spectacular. One of the best we've ever had, and we've stayed at many 5 star hotels worldwide. The resort staff are very polite and helpful and rooms were clean and well maintained. Mattress was far too firm for me though. The 2 pools were lovely, but it would be nice to have a beach and pool drink/food service though, as we were constantly walking up to the inside bar to order drinks or food. The kids club was ok, but more aimed at young kids, under 8. I suggest movie nights or older kid events so that Mum and Dad can have a break!
We arrived at 16:00 but the rooms weren't ready yet. The manager gave some laim excuse. We waited for an hour to get the rooms. Rooms are basic and poorly maintained: aircon. and shower didn't work in one, toilet didn't flush in the other. One of us got food poisened aftet eating a burger at their restaurant ( while waiting for our rooms to be ready). We had to call a doctor in the middle of the night because he suffered badly (and psy 8500 BHT). The next day we wanted to check out but had to waste half a day waiting for the manager to kindly talk to us, because the staff at the reception were clueless and said that only he can deal with it. No help and no compensation was offered (but a 'kind' offer for a one night upgrade and then move us back to other rooms... Well, no thanks). Such a bad experience at the hotel and lost of precious time with no helpfull response from anyone. Nobody even bothered to follow up and check on us the following day. felt like being a number there, not a guest. Nothing that resembles a genuine service attitude which we experienced in other hotels at Thailand. The pools and beach were noisy and .too croudy to enjoy Small pools for such a big hotel. Overall service was not personal and unpleasent most of the time, while the managment tries to make appearences of high quality service and hospitality but lacks .authenticity Didn't enjoy our stay there, to say the least.
We had a great room just facing the pool and beach, it was perfect and indulging. Very big room, excellent breakfast, peaceful beach, best service. The place is just at the beginning of Chaweng beach so very easy o get everywhere. Nothing more to add - just try it!
Location good with many eating and cocktail bars near by. A little away from the noisier parts of Chaweng night like. Hotel and facilities very comfortable. Food excellent and staff even better. Always with a smile and Sa-wat-dee ka greeting. The dining manager Mam and her second in charge Pen are the best and can not do enough for you. The two pools are ideal for children, at just the correct depth.
