Stayed 1 week at Hotel Matilda. Had a lovely room with a great view of the pool. Service was outstanding, especially at the Front desk to housekeeping. Particularly Gustavo, Maria Jose and Javier were exceptionally helpful throughout our stay. Meals were had at Moxi where the food was delicious but service was very variable. One day we would be served quickly, the next day, one hour later. I found it odd that in a hotel that stresses customer service, that frequently during meals the waiters would be carrying heavy boxes across the dining room, or moving the couches to get items hidden behind them needed for meals or lastly dusting the counters with a rag while we are eating??? The restaurant service can make/break whether you stay in a hotel...

The entrance is underwhelming until you step into the lobby from a big door in the street , they greet you by name usher you into rooms designed by some Mexican Da Vinci with lush bedding, spacious ensuite and a bath fir for royalty. the restaurant is like stepping into Architectural Digest and the catch of the day waters the mouth, sets the diner's juices flowing accompanied by one of their fine local wines. Coffee is superlative, a must for a road warrior and the sheets are sublime. The staff were so kind to my injured girl friend showing rich empathy and concern

Clean, comfortable and excellent service with a location within walking distance to the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel and El Jardin. We booked the Luxury Suite, the bathroom was huge with a walk in shower and large freestanding soaking tub. The balcony was small and offered no view, it didn't look as if any of the balconies had a view. The restaurant, Moxi, is good and I will review it separately. The upstairs bar was not very lively in the afternoons and didn't have a view. Within a short walk is Rosewood that offers a good option for dining and drinks.

Matilda is thoughtfully curated boutique hotel with an emphasis on fine art, from Picasso to Marín. If you are not into art, you will love the elevated food, the spa and will appreciate the world-class service throughout, starting with the top-notch concierge. The rooms are creatively appointed, and a real exercise in architectural design. For example, in our room, a mirror could be moved sideways to reveal a window behind it! As far as toiletries- Malin and Goetz! I felt that I was staying at a gallery of sorts, and only had to walk downstairs to be at a restaurant by celebrated Enrique Olvera. Worth every penny.

Loved the location minutes from the center and also from the main park. The service at the hotel was great. The waitstaff is attentive, helpful, and hard working. The bedrooms were comfortable, sheets and pillows, the bathroom, the spa and the restaurant. A little luxury in a fairy tale town.

Excellent spa facility - exceptionally clean and comfortable with great attendants. We all dined at Moxi after our spa treatments, and the food was delicious and the service excellent, but leisurely as befits the Mexican culture.

We took another couple out to dinner with us to celebrate our 20th anniversary and all four of us were disappointed in the service. The food and drinks were very good and the restaurant & bar are very attractive. Arriving early, we were told we could have a drink in the bar upstairs and waited about 10 minutes before going back downstairs to advise there was no bartender up there. Then they tried to seat us between two tables full of smokers on the patio. We ordered dinner and were never asked if we wanted to start with a soup or salad, we never had any bread at the table, our drink orders were delayed twice, and one of the entrees we ordered wasn't available. We were asked twice if we were celebrating anything special and both times we said our 20th anniversary - but they did nothing for it - why ask? We told the waiter we weren't very happy with the service, so he did comp dessert, which was nice. However, for the money, we would not go back.

Booked a room on line last fall for a May wedding. Canceled it a week or two later when we were able to book the Rosewood. Did not receive a cancellation number but the website no longer showed a reservation under our name or reservation number. Verified a couple months before the trip that the website no longer showed our reservation. Thought we set until we received the charges for the stay a week or so before travel. Imagine our surprise and dismay. Tried to resolve this with the hotel management who were unsympathetic and put the charges through. We stayed at the Rosewood (awesome hotel and highly recommend it) and had a wonderful time. Trip sullied by the Matilda's foible. Have tried to resolve it with them since, explaining what happened with their website to no avail. Can't speak to their on site services, just to their website and insensitive treatment. We will be actively avoiding the Design Hotels properties in the future.

We went for a couple spa package and it was AMAZING, the service, the spa section, the hotel, everything was perfect! They had different cabinets for couples and the whole experience is worth the price.

We came here for a wedding! This hotel is clean and staff are very nice and helpful. The bad part is the front desk would not break US money for smaller bills.. $100.00. They charge for waters in the room that you need for brushing teeth etc. The stairs have no lights, very dark!!!!
