Room A4 is right next door to the Hotel bar located on second floor. Do NOT stay in this room or others on this floor if you want a good nights sleep!. Walls are paper thin. After a great first day in San Miguel, I was exhausted. Got back from dinner at 9:30PM. Loud party in the bar lasted till after 11PM at which time I was no longer tired and spent the next few hours lying in bed wide awake.. Isn't one of the main benefits to sleeping in a hotel is to get a good nights rest? Although no fault of the hotel I was startled awake at 5:45 AM when I thought I heard a Transformer explode. These loud booms (FIREWORKS) continued throughout the early AM, only to be told that this is what is done in San Miguel. If you want peace and quiet this is NOT the town to spend time in. If you are OK with LOUD early morning noises and you want to stay at the Hotel Matilda make sure you room is far away from the Bar.

My husband and I booked individual hot stone massages for the same time and this was confirmed upon our arrival at 4 pm. The facility is clean and comfortable. At the time of the massages we were taken to separate rooms. My husband had a wonderful hot stone massage but my non-English speaking masseuse could not understand my questions about why I was receiving a deep tissue massage and not a hot stone massage. I decided to just "go with the flow" as she was quite good and enjoy my relaxation time. At payment time I told the English speaking receptionist about the problem and she sounded surprised. I wanted to give the tip personally to the masseuse but she had already (less than 10 minutes) left. My guess is that staffing was a problem. I was given a 20% discount but was disappointed because my husband raved about his hot stone massage and while my massage was good, it was not one I would rave about.

fabulous location, close to every thing. no need for a car. he rooms are spacious and clean, good food, wonderful surrondings staff is more than helpful. I highly recommend this hotel, would defiantly return.

If I chose accommodation in San Miguel, this would be the place. We were two married couples using the pool and spa facilities for the afternoon. Our time was spent lounging around The pool and floating in the pool while enjoying a delicious lunch and wonderful beverages. The courtyard was immaculate. A hidden gem amidst the tumbled streets of San Miguel. Service was impeccable and as friendly as could be. This would be a fabulous place for a honeymoon or romantic getaway or any getaway!

We spent Christmas 2017 in this beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of San Miguel de Allende. First class service from check in until check out. Well appointed, cozy and quiet rooms, some with gorgeous views of the landscape. The on-site restaurant 'Moxi' is just fabulous and serves a first class continental breakfast with option for a full breakfast should you choose. Atmosphere at Moxi for breakfast, lunch or dinner is fantastic...when weather is warm the sliding glass doors are opened and it becomes indoor/outdoor dining. The restaurant staff is superb! The location can't be beat...less than 5 minute walk to many other great restaurants, shops and art galleries. Bring good walking shoes as the streets are old cobblestone (which adds to the character of this beautiful city!)

I flew into Leon drove to San Miguel and arrived at a really lovely peaceful hotel in the middle of the central of this ancient city. The city is really charming with it’s colonial architecture. It’s quite hilly which adds to it’s beauty. The hotel is modern, with unique art in the common areas. The room was very clean it had air conditioning and heat which is not always found in the older hotels. There is a bar which serves very nice drinks and a lovely restaurant, which we had dinner at. They have a small outdoor pool which is not heated but probably doesn’t need it most of the year. I used the spa as well and it was wonderful. A great location and very lovely hotel

Stunning room with a working fire place, a cosy nook overlooking the garden, the pool, and the city, and then small luxuries like Netflix on the TV and a nespresso machine in the room. Loved staying here!

Stayed 1 week at Hotel Matilda. Had a lovely room with a great view of the pool. Service was outstanding, especially at the Front desk to housekeeping. Particularly Gustavo, Maria Jose and Javier were exceptionally helpful throughout our stay. Meals were had at Moxi where the food was delicious but service was very variable. One day we would be served quickly, the next day, one hour later. I found it odd that in a hotel that stresses customer service, that frequently during meals the waiters would be carrying heavy boxes across the dining room, or moving the couches to get items hidden behind them needed for meals or lastly dusting the counters with a rag while we are eating??? The restaurant service can make/break whether you stay in a hotel...

The entrance is underwhelming until you step into the lobby from a big door in the street , they greet you by name usher you into rooms designed by some Mexican Da Vinci with lush bedding, spacious ensuite and a bath fir for royalty. the restaurant is like stepping into Architectural Digest and the catch of the day waters the mouth, sets the diner's juices flowing accompanied by one of their fine local wines. Coffee is superlative, a must for a road warrior and the sheets are sublime. The staff were so kind to my injured girl friend showing rich empathy and concern

Clean, comfortable and excellent service with a location within walking distance to the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel and El Jardin. We booked the Luxury Suite, the bathroom was huge with a walk in shower and large freestanding soaking tub. The balcony was small and offered no view, it didn't look as if any of the balconies had a view. The restaurant, Moxi, is good and I will review it separately. The upstairs bar was not very lively in the afternoons and didn't have a view. Within a short walk is Rosewood that offers a good option for dining and drinks.
