Absolutely loved this little hotel. It is cute, charming, tasteful with comfortable rooms that feel both Mexican, old-fashioned and yet still comfortable verging on luxurious. The location is just close enough to the center of SMA while still remaining reasonably quiet and we felt that the relationship between value and experience was very fair indeed. There are also plenty of very considerate touches to be found, such as a high quality coffee maker in the central courtyard just outside reception, knowledgable and friendly staff, decent internet and a really nice breakfast served in the charming central courtyard. Our only disappointment was the fact that this was just a one night stay, we would recommend staying longer if your itinerary permits. As two couples we were given very different rooms. "Pinguica" is on the ground floor on the right hand side coming from the main entrance. It is a totally charming room with king size bed, fireplace, small seating area and a small but rambling bathroom with twin sinks, a decent shower (the window overlooks the courtyard) and then a short hallway down to a separate WC and closet area. It is comfortable, spacious and surprisingly quiet given the location. Can't remember the name of the other room, but it was down a series of nicely decorated passageways and then up a few flights of stairs to the very top. Due to this location and (presumably the afternoon sun) this room did have a mini-split a/c unit. This is also a king room with a smaller but very nice bathroom. I have added photos of both rooms as well a few of the public areas of the hotel.
My husband and I stayed at Hacienda el santuario. We were so happy to have stayed there. From the moment we arrived, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was great, we felt like we were at home. Breakfast was included, and it was good. Very prompt service. We enjoyed our stay. We highly recommend hacienda el santuario.. Gary and julia.
The property is a great location, just a few blocks away from the jardin, yet far enough away to be a little more private. The staff and service were excellent; the breakfast was delicious! I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Obviously the friendly staff takes great pride in the hacienda, its cleanliness, its history, and its guests' comfort. A beautifully tended rooftop vegetable/herb garden provides fresh produce for the kitchen. Breakfast every morning was delicious. Loved the Chilaquiles and whole grain French toast! Will definitely stay here again if in the area.
This former convent has a lot of character and unique rooms. On arrival they served a glass of wine which was appreciated after a long day. The service and parking were great. Breakfast in the morning was also very good. Plate of fresh fruit, fresh orange juice, nespresso coffee, bread, beans, and eggs. Very glad to have stayed!
This hotel is warm, romantic, quaint, in a great location.... walking distance to everything like the city square...(very relaxing and cool at night) the best restaurants are all around and just plain great for local sightseeing...you don't need a car.....why because parking is quirky and directions may be hard to follow and you're gonna waste a lot time trying to figure it out! So what do you do....you hire the best guide in San Miguel...and that's from San Miguel Magico Transportation & Tours...they pick you up at the airport in Guanajuato International Airport, and it's and hour and a half drive from San Miguel de Allende with direct flights to Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. The Queretaro International Airport is closer and receives Continental and Aeromexico flights. The right tour guide will speak great english and will also talk about everything from the airport to San Miguel...and beyond and they know where to go and the best way to get there.....and they know what's going on so you don't miss any big holiday events. So kick back and enjoy all the reasons you came here...
The hotel is a very gracious and affordable place in the heart of the town. Located on a quiet street halfway between the center square and a beautiful park, it is still a great place to relax after walking and the festivities. The breakfast is good and the staff very warm and helpful.
Stayed here for four days and loved it. Low key, beautiful charming grounds & building, exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, definitely recommend it and would stay here again. Location a few blocks from the main plaza is convenient, yet quiet.
This small hotel is well located in the town of San Miguel de Allende. The outdoor common areas are lush and charming. We stayed in a room with a barrel ceiling built of bricks with a large, private patio outside overlooking a garden with a fountain. Our room was air-conditioned and comfortable in every way. The advertised "continental breakfast" turned out to be a full breakfast served in a patio filled with bouganvilla. What an amazing bargain. We would gladly return.
We were so pleased we booked this lovely hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast in the courtyard was delightful. No need to walk up a hill at the end of the day which I see as a bonus. Other pluses are the quality toiletries, good wifi and comfortable room. Would definitely come back.
