Charming hotel in great location. Nice room (petite suite); but plenty of stairs to navigate. Louis at front desk speaks decent English and was very helpful. Adequate continental breakfast. Would recommend; but room rates seem to jump-round quite a bit
I stayed here for 3 nights and had booked a petite suite. Firstly the booking process was not easy as no staff other than Luis speaks English and they would make u call 100 times, sent the confirm in Spanish, all of this I was cool with given I travel abroad a lot. Luis had mentioned he would try his best to get Suite Margarita, we get there, he tells us whoever was staying there extended thr stay. So now we get put in another suite which is ok. No water pressure in the bathroom, we tell the front desk- they said they will fix it ASAP, we come back that evening, next am still not fixed till I had to come out of the shower and wait outside the room for someone to fix it. The entire night there was an insect inside the room on top of my bed which kept making a sound and I couldn't sleep - all night. We tell them next am, show them a video! Luis tells me he can't switch the room intially, then tells me I can now go to margarita (since that person who extended thr stay suddenly moved out) and nothing he could do as the hotel was full. I asked to write the manager, and explained everything and suddenly she had a room available for us to move to when we came back from tour. This was extremely frustrating - just lies at the front desk about hotel being full, ppl suddenly checking in and out, and doing nothing about the shower or a bug on our bed. Once we moved to the new room, it was comfortable, no insects. The hotel itself is beautiful, charming and in a great location. But I was really disappointed with the staff, the false stories, and lack of professionalism for what could be an amazing hotel given its location and decor. Breakfast is nothing special either, pretty sloppy, and we decided to skip it and just eat at Cumpanio instead. They also charged my card wrongly and it was hard to communicate since no one speaks English or even tries to help.
We stayed here for a couple of nights to get to know San Miguel a little better. The hotel is well located (you'll do a lot of walking in San Miguel - bring comfy shoes and take advantage of the free parking and leave the car there). We stayed in the Bugambilia room, which did seem a bit twisty and turny to get to ("are we there yet?") but was delightfully charming, clean, with a lovely bathroom, and private terrace. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful - need a wine opener and some glasses? They'll get them for you! Make sure to ask about all the choices at breakfast before deciding - also don't miss the unadvertised espresso machine by the lobby. Terrific place - would absolutely stay here again.
Location is excellent. Service is excellent. We booked a junior suite, which was essentially a room with a fabulous patio. WiFi was a little rocky in the back, so maybe consider installing a WiFi extender. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. It’s tranquil, and an easy walk to the center of town.
We stayed here at the coldest time of the year, with lows in the 20s (Fahrenheit). Our junior suite at the back had a lovely terrace with sofas, but we didn't get to use it much due to the weather. Our room had a heater/A.C. unit, which was definitely needed at this time of year! The bed was comfortable, the shower had great water pressure and enough hot water for both of us to shower right after each other. The TV had plenty of channels, a few in English, but it had lines across it. There was NO wi-Fi reception in our room, so if that is a must for you, request a room close to the modem. There was reception in the charming courtyard below our room. Breakfast was served the first day outside in the lower courtyard, which is beautiful but not heated. There was a buffet of eggs, toast similar to French toast, fruit, chilaquiles, black beans, pastries, cereal and yoghurt. The next day we got to eat in the inside lobby, which wasn't heated but at least it was sheltered. Parking is only by valet, and you need to give 30 minutes notice to get your car. It is in the downtown with very narrow cobblestone streets. We walked everywhere while there. Plenty of restaurants and sites nearby.
The Hacienda El Santuario was really a lovely place! The location was excellent; a quiet street not even a 5 minute walk to the center of town but not right in the noisy center. The breakfast was pretty good but is served in the outdoor courtyard so was a bit chilly first thing in the morning in November. The staff was helpful and very friendly and the rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.
I would give the Hacienda a 5 star if it had a bar and somewhere to eat. Other than that I loved it. Comfortable, attractive, easy walk to center of town, great breakfasts, Very helpful people. I needed someone with more English to help me several times. However, Abraham, who did everything, but work behind the desk, helped me out. Luis came in a day later and he, too, spoke English.
I was pleasantly surprised after booking this last-minute hotel for myself in San Miguel. Very close walk to absolutely everything in the city, beautiful grounds, friendly/helpful staff & a peace unlike no other. Highly recommend for someone solo & especially for couples. I wish I had someone to share this beautiful hotel with!
We had a great 4 night stay. Love the location, the rooms and the people. Nice laid back atmosphere with a great breakfast, just off the busy streets and a 5 minute walk to the thick of SMA. Hope to get back there. Shower temperatures fluctuate but other than that the rooms were spacious and perfect.
After we had to run out from a horrible hotel at 7:30 AM due to misleading information and deceiving pictures, and all the best hotels were booked due to Day of the Death weekend and several weddings going on at the same time, we were fortunate to find this lovely hotel with generous, kind, hardworking and absolutely delightful staff. We had a delicious breakfast while we waited for the reservation person to arrive., who did everything she could to accommodate us, then followed up by asking every morning if we were enjoying our stay. THANK YOU !!!!!
