Lovely Spanish colonial building in central SMA, close to El Jardín, central plaza. Beautiful courtyard for breakfast and just sitting. Large, comfortable rooms with high ceilings and beautifully decorated in Spanish colonial style. Delicious breakfast (including eggs/chilaquiles) and attentive service. Welcoming and helpful front desk staff. Come stay here, you won’t want to leave.
My Husband and I just returned from a 26 day stay at El Santuario. It was a return visit for us after one week in March 2017. This property is truly unique and the reception is warm and welcoming. Luis leads the Front Desk Staff with a gracious and professional style. The Staff is young and always ready to assist in dining reservations or just info on what to do in SMA...Breakfast was served in the Courtyard & special thanks to Sandi and Abraham for starting our day with a warm welcome! The owners support local artisans and have created a Folk Art Museum "feeling". We were delighted to be present when the staff was honored with a "Festa", complete with Marrachi Band & cake to celebrate the 4 Star designation by the Tourist Board. This award was recognized by not only San Miguel but also the many outstanding entries on TripAdvisor and other travel sites and magazine articles.
This is a lovely hotel in an excellent location, just off the beaten path but no more than a 5-10 minute walk to the main plaza. The daily breakfast (included) in the courtyard was delicious and the staff serving breakfast were just wonderful! My room (Roble) was clean and spacious with excellent water pressure in the shower. As others have mentioned, the wifi was spotty in the room but fine in the courtyard. It was noisy on Friday and Saturday night but lots of tourists were in for the beginning of Easter week. The frequent tolling of the bells from the Parroquia can be heard, but certainly less loudly than if staying right off the main plaza.
We loved this place, staying for 7 nights. The location was great, the staff so darn sweet that I had tears in my eyes leaving. I have never felt that way after leaving any hotel in 50 yrs of traveling, The breakfast was very good ...served in a pretty courtyard. We felt very safe -2 woman. And the location was very good, only a few blocks from the Jardin. Would definitely stay there again.
Coming from Guanajuato, this place and SMA in general is much more expensive than we anticipated. This place is excellent for its breakfast, service, and its accommodations. No complaints about ANYTHING except expect to pay for it. Highly recommended.
The hotel is beautiful. Our room was spacious with a futon that was nice for an afternoon siesta. Location is about a ten minute walk to the main plaza. Breakfast every morning is buffet style and was always delicious. The staff were courteous and helpful. The wifi signal in the room was spotty, but worked great in the common areas. The one downside was that our room was on the second story, and we could hear people on the roof chatting throughout the day. It was never an issue at night, but during the day, if you closed your eyes, you would swear there was someone else in the room talking. It was a bit startling at first, until we figured out where the sound was coming from.
We stayed at the Hacienda el Santuario for 7 nights and I loved it. It is a charming hotel with beautiful rooms, abundant art work and secluded garden areas. The atmosphere promotes relaxation and they offer on site massages. And the breakfasts were incredible each morning. But BEST OF ALL are the many wonderful people that work around the clock to ensure that each visitor feels at home. What a lovely place. I can't wait to come back!
Our room was dark and quiet at night, and very well appointed. The location is wonderful, easy access up the hill to the main square, and down the hill to the Instituto Allende and other places to visit. The staff are uniformly wonderful, very helpful and gracefully accommodate your (like mine) very fractured Spanish or accommodate your (and my) English. French, German, etc, I don't know. But they will find a way to make your visit wonderful. The breakfasts are great, fruit plates automatic, and eggs to your preference. And very good coffee. This is a wonderful oasis, and a great location.
Each room has its own unique beauty. Beautiful corridors and courtyards. HIGHLY recommend if wanting to have an one-of-a-kind experience! Art and deco across the entire space is phenomenal. Great breakfast and lovely service from the staff.
We were here for a week. The hotel itself was utterly charming, just about perfect in every way. All of the staff were kind and very helpful. They serve a breakfast which I saw described somewhere as “continental,” but actually it is a full breakfast —more than we could eat, and very good. Good location, although flat and thickly soled shoes are required for the cobble stone streets of this historic central part of the city.
