We focused more on the good reviews than the low scores. What a mistake. As other reviews tell you, do not be fooled by the lobby of this place. There is nothing charming about the rooms. They are OLD. The bed was too worn out, and should have been replaced years ago. There were only two towels in the bathroom, which were almost see through... almost like old rags. However, what made us most uncomfortable was the door. There was no lock, and the small chain to secure the door had a crooked screw, which could be easily pulled off. Same night we checked in, I went back into Tripadvisor to read the reviews again, and noticed several comments about brake-ins, and in some cases the hotel management seemed not interested to care, and even part of the thefts. Needless to say, we checked out. We had reservations for three nights paid through Travelocity. The front desk manager did not bother to even ask why we were checking out, not did he even offer to reimburse the two nights left. He simply said... "They are paid for already, and it is your decision to check out early". This place is definitely not a place I would recommend. For the price, is not even a place for young people to stay. A true shame as this could be a great hotel.

We have a video showing the front desk receptionist giving a copy of our room key card to a guy who robbed us a few hours later. It was a carefully planned robbery. The thief pretended to be a newspaper reporter the day before and asked us a few questions. Under no circumstances should you stay at this hotel. If your company has arranged a conference here ( as did ours) please share this information with them so they unarrange it. I delayed writing the review in case it might somehow influence the hotel's willingness to work with the police. But they didn't do anything anyway and no compensation of any kind was offered for their blatant mistake. When we came down and reported the robbery the front desk said "you should have kept your valuables in the room safe. There was no room safe. This is a dark place...avoid it.

Since the entrance the team is not prepared to handle large groups, we were part of a big competition team and the hotel staff couldn't handle the situation in several ways. check in was very slow and once we were taken to our room it was in the middle of the cleaning process (9 pm). we need to wait longer. the room condition was ok and cleanness but once we get install we discover that the ac was not working and will not work for the next days. Shower was poor and basically not hot water. Wifi is extremely slow. the restaurant was another patience test, which confirms me that they can't handle large groups. the attitude of service of the people in the restaurant was really good. Will not recommend it until is re-furbished or updated.

I was shocked to begin with when I saw how poorly maintained the room was to begin with... The light switch is half opened up with wire exposed. Lighting was not sufficient at all. I felt like I'm almost walking in the dark. What's even worst, the Wi-Fi does not work at all, doesn't matter which router I connected to. The front desk did request technician to try to debug the issue, but had no resolution. When I reqeusted to either change room or get a full refund, guess what the night front desk man said. "to my comment, I don't think Wi-Fi is critical to you stay". Since when does the hotel make decision on whether Wi-Fi is needed or not? If I knew Wi-Fi is an "optional" service, I would never look at this hotel AT ALL. They also refused to change my room, saying that there is no room available, while they are still receiving guests to various room. Sorry to be selfish here, i would think they should change my room and hope other guests don't need Wi-Fi service. Wi-Fi is essential for international travelers, especially when my boss was texting me to try to get me to do some work remotely. Last but not least, this hotel is located right next to a busy street... please bring earplugs if you plan to get a good night sleep. I will never recommend this hotel to any international travelers.

This place was very very noisy day 1 HORRIBLE no sleep lots of noise they gave me another room in the 3rd floor good for 2 nights on 3rd night it was horrible.. people slamming doors talking out loud running all over the hallway. Got no sleep at all I checked out to go across the street....staff was good I do give them credit.

My boyfriend and I where looking somewhere affordable for us to stay so we booked this hotel in expedia, This saved us a lot of money. The hotel is "far" of the city center, I mean Guanajuato is not super big so it will take you among 20 minutes to be there. You can park in the hotel, the rooms are OK they´re not luxurious but they are clean, I guess the decoration is a little bit old fashion. What I hated is that I can hear everything that happen outside the room, I don't know if the walls are to thin but it woke me up several times an of course wasn't happy about that. I didn't eat in the hotel so I don't know how is the food and the pool was close because of the season (winter).

I booked a room for three people and in the bathroom there were only two bath towels, and one of them was wet. There were no hand towel or wash cloth. The room was dirty after walking on the floor my feet were black. I found the hotel to be old and out-dated. If you are going to Guanajuato for the Festival de Cervantes book your hotel in advance and don't stay here.

I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. They have excellent customer service. The rooms were very comfortable and nice. The food is was great. The pool area and patio guarantee lots of fun :) I would definitely go back.

This hotel is located on the outskirts of Guanajuato. I believe its the only large hotel around. Its very standard, and is need of renovations. The front desk is somewhat deceptive as it has quite a bit of character. The rooms are just tired looking, the towels are thin and worn. We stayed here for a work event on the property, and it definitely has the capacity to comfortably accommodate groups of over 150. The building itself is somewhat confusing, we were on the 4th floor but our room was in the 200's. The one elevator takes forever, the air conditioner units are outside on a small balcony, and if you choose to sleep with your windows open all you hear is the hum of over 100 units buzzing away all night. A cab ride into the center takes about 10-15 minutes and is about $4, or there is a bus right outside of the hotel thats only 5 pesos. There are no stores around, other than a pharmacy across a busy road. We received 2 small bottles of water on the first night but none after that. The food we ate was pretty awful, but they were catering to over 100 people, so i'm not sure what it is like if you eat in the restaurant. The staff were friendly and helpful. The wifi is very slow, other people in our group could not get any signal at all, which was a problem, as this was a work event and we all needed access to the internet for presentations etc. If you do stay here then take advantage of the many cabs waiting outside and ride into the center of Guanajuato.

Upon arrival the room had not been cleaned, so I was assigned another room. The light over the vanity was not operable and the shower head was very difficult to pull. The tv was not of picture quality and last but not least, the elevator was out of order which meant you had to go in circles to get to your room.
