Edelmira Hotel Boutique4.0 out of 5.0

Edelmira is a comfortable boutique hotel in the middle of Guanajuato on a small side street from the lively Jardin de la Unión. This small distance makes all the difference between late night noise and peace and quiet. The hotel has a nice old-fashioned atmosphere and the public areas are stylish in a quaint way. I stayed for five nights for a conference at the university (a short walk). There was some confusion about my reservation when I arrived and was consequently allocated a very dark room on the first floor. The hotel corrected this on the second day and I got a spacious and light room on the 4th floor. So a piece of advice: try to avoid the dark low-level rooms. Overall, the staff was very friendly and provided good opportunities to practice my Spanish, as with the exception of one gentleman in the reception the staff hardly spoke any English. I would definitely return to Edelmira should I have the chance to visit this lovely town again.
The hotel is cute and definitely boutique. The location is amazing and puts you right in the thick of things with easy access to restaurants, entertainment, and more. The room was clean, but lacked storage so we were living out of the suitcases for our five day visit. The shower was a bit weird because you have to stand in the shower or keep the door open to test the water temperature - so you're either freezing while the water warms up or soaking the bathroom. The cleaning was a bit hit or miss (no soap one day, no coffee pods, etc.) but easily corrected with a stop to the helpful front desk staff. Breakfast was included with our stay and was fresh and tasty! The front desk staff helped get taxis and were generally helpful and pleasant.
My husband and I only stayed one night and would have liked to stay longer. The hotel decor is nice and had a nice ambiance to it. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room itself was also well kept. It is very centrally located and I would definitely stay here again.
Guanajuato isn't a big city by any means, but we were visiting during the last weekend of the 3 week Cerventino festival. The Jardin Union is the center of activity and crowded and loud for the whole weekend we were there. However, stepping into the lobby of the Edelmira was an immediate escape into quiet and calm. We were lucky to have a suite in the rear of the hotel, but still had windows that let in a lot of light, but not noise. The room was large with a sitting area. Well maintained and clean. The only fault I could find was the lack of electrical outlets. Breakfast in the restaurant consisted of a cold buffet of fruit, cereals, yogurt, local breads and pastries and juices. Were also offered hot breakfast choices made to order in the kitchen. We were happy with the selections. The hotel staff was professional and more than accommodating. They were happy to offer directions, suggestions on things to do, made dinner reservations and arranged for transportation to San Miguel de Allende when our stay was over. Centrally located, well appointed, and a good rate.
This is a hotel in an older building, which I really liked - classical architecture. It is right in the middle of Guanajuato. There is a risk of it being a bit noisy as a result, but the hotel supplies ear plugs. I was in a room at the front, so you may want to ask for a room further back. But very nice decor.
My wife and I stayed for 3 nights. Perfect location, right next to the Jardín de la Unión (the spot for nighttime drinks and entertainment in GTO). Very well designed small boutique hotel, clean, well maintained and helpful staff. Luckily we reserved a room in the back, after reading a review warning if noise at the front. The disco across the pedestrian street in front plays music loud until 2:00AM on weekends (Sunday counts in Mexico). We could have heard a pin drop. The bedding, room furnishings and toiletries are top notch. The included is very good, fresh fruit, yogurt, Mexican pan dulce, and to order eggs, pancakes, waffles and more. Bottled water, juices, snacks in the room are also included. Plenty of places to see within walking distance, but being right off the Jardín is the biggest advantage. Oh yah, and after a day walking the city you can come back for a refreshing plunge in their elegant indoor pool. Not olympic size, but does the job! Also check out the rooftop terrace with spectacular view on the Basilica de Guanajuato and much of the center of GTO. Good in the day, fantastic at night. Why look elsewhere?
Sometime saying less is more. It was an awesome experience. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. They definitely go the extra mile for their guests. The room was very comfortable. The bed... excellent. And... did I mention location… Perfect.
First of all, the hotel is in a pedestrian zone which google maps does not seem to pick up, so it took us three loops around the Guanajuato city centre before we just gave up, stopped the car and walked the rest. As previous posters said the complementary parking is far away and there is no valet parking, so you'd have to drop off the car and take a taxi back into town. We opted to pay for a local (5 minutes walk) public parking. This was quite expensive. The location of the hotel is excellent. It's right on a pedestrianised park with cafes in the centre of Guanajuato. The appearance of the hotel is pleasant and the lobby and breakfast area are pretty. Breakfast was included in our rate and included cereals / rolls / juices from a buffet as well as a cooked breakfast - we enjoyed it. there is a bar, but this was not open during our two night stay. There is also a swimming pool and jacuzzi, which was pretty but small and in need of TLC (you could see the grub / disintegrating wood when in the jacuzzi) Our rooms were facing the interior courtyard and the windows did not open. The rooms were clean and comfortable if a little boring. The bathrooms were small. Guanajuato itself is a wonderful place, very enjoyable. The hotel was ok, but if I visit again I'll probably look for something with prettier rooms.
Beautiful and clean Hotel friendly service I would definitely would stay here again Loved staying at your beautiful Hotel They even provided us box lunches to tak with us on the way to the airport. Staff was very helpful
The location is amazing. And the staff are incredible, especially Karla Romero. From our first email in January, Karla was consistent, professional, and results-oriented. Everything we asked for was delivered beyond our expectations . She is amazing. The view from the terrace is breath taking. The food was absolutely gourmet. So many guests told us that our wedding was the most beautiful wedding they had ever attended. This had nothing to do with us. It was all Karla. If you are looking for a wedding experience that will create lifetime memories for not only the bride and groom but also the guests, We highly recommend Hotel Edelmira and Karla Romero.
