We visited Reina Isabel a week ago and we can not fault it. The staff were very friendly the hotel and room were very clean and cleaned daily. We loved how close it is to the beach and you get sunbeds to use although i do think they need some more to accomdoate more of their guests. The pool in the roof was lovely and the fact thar you have such an amazing few of the beach and also Las Palmas itself. Would definatly reccomend it.

Now just where shall I begin..... our holiday started off absolutely awful as when we booked at Thomsons/First Choice the flight was 14:10 but the day after we paid in full they moved the flight to 19:55 and despite all our pleadings would neither do a refund or let us cancel without a hefty loss of payment. Did the shop tell us about the resort or area or much else except book us and tell us the price NO! The flight was then delayed for 75 mins - we were like sardines in a can on that plane children were crying and tired, my hubby had to stand up so I could fasten my seatbelt, and by the time we arrived in Las Palmas it was about 02;00 in the morning. The rep quickly shoved a leaflet at us as we had arrived so late, and said the driver would load us into his vehicle and off we went - it was just like being on Brands Hatch!! The back streets were not nice and then we arrived at this beautiful hotel whose front faced the back streets which were full of fumes from the multitude of traffic on them, at 3:30 a.m. the reception gave us our keys and we finally and literally fell into bed around 03:45. Next morning we looked around the room lovely and clean and smelled good too, the hotels cleanliness was second to none. Every Breakfast and Dinner were very good and appetising, staff helpful friendly and they had lovely smiles. Now due to the fact we are mid 70's the late flight and transit took it's toll on us and we spent most of the Friday resting in our room completely exhausted, and yes this was no fault of the hotel purely down to Thomsons. We tried to contact a rep to book some trips but after holding on for over 30 minutes we gave up and decided to wait for them to come to the hotel - in 14 days they never did though! The hotel music in the reception and dining room could have been played in a funeral parlour and there was NO entertainment either in or around the hotel or resort - I doubt there was even a radio anywhere. People seemed to spend their time either walking or running up and down the promenade, sadly we couldn't join in!! There was absolutely nothing else to do at all except wander the dirty back streets full of boarded up vacant shops. The establishments along the prom were all for eating which wasn't any use to us as we had paid for our food at the hotel. The hotel sunbeds on the beach were free, but you had to get your towels on before 9a.m. The man who set them out was great and greeted you with a smile and a good morning no complaints on that score. The rooftop pool was very nice and the attendant helpful and pleasant. No coloured lights or entertainment anywhere the four of us in our party agreed this was NOT a holiday resort. English voices were seldom heard but those we did speak to said the same as us that it was a lovely hotel but to say the place was boring was cutting it fine. On couple I think from Germany said they thought they had booked into a retirement resort!! Couldn't wait to leave. Now to the day of departure...... boy what a day..... we had to vacate our rooms by 12 noon which we did and put our cases etc into the hotel storage room. It was a very hot day so we went for a short walk outside and sat down to people watch. We sat in the foyer from about 2:30 pm until dinner at 19:00 then back to the foyer to await pick up at 11:15 for our transit to the airport for a flight at 01.25 a.m. I mentioned to a Thomsons rep at the airport about no rep coming and she just said oh that hotel doesn't get one you have to phone with any queries or problems. Yes I know for a lady taken ill and sitting in the foyer said it had taken her over 45 mins to get in touch and she was having to go home. We finally arrived back at Manchester Airport around 06:30 a.m. and after a drive home just went to bed exhausted once again. Do we that is any of our party of 4 feel we have had value for money NO! do we feel we have had a holiday NO! Will we book with Thomsons again NO!!!!!

An excellent hotel on the Esplanade . Our room was very spacious , beds were comfortable with decent pillows . Bathroom was first class with a large walk in shower . Our sheets , towels and toiletries seemed to be replaced every day . As we faced a side street the room was very dark but on the fourth floor we did not hear any noise with both The balcony door and sliding doors closed . The television channels for English speaking guests was pretty limited , but we were able to keep up to date with the news . The breakfast was extremely good with all tastes catered for , including freshly cooked omelettes , freshly squeezed orange juice , oh and vodka & cava if the mood took you . Dinner was also good with usually two grill stations to prepare fresh food to the guest's taste . The dress code changed on our last Sunday night to less formal attire , i.e. Gentlemen we're now granted equal rights to wear shorts with their female guests !! The music piped through the dining room and surrounds was pretty dire reminiscent of a visit to the dentist about 25 years ago . The guests were a varied bunch , the cheery Brits and our less cheery mob for elsewhere in the EU . Is it Brexit ? or does it go back further to the last century - lighten up it's a holiday . I received a nice bottle of wine in our room from the hotel on my birthday with their good wishes which was a lovely touch . My only complaint was to receive an invoice 4 days before our departure asking me to to pay my bill of 104 euros asap . Apparently it is group police as our stay had exceeded 7 days and 100 Euros !! I paid everything in cash thereafter to help their cash flow . The staff were all very helpful and friendly , special mention for the pool attendent/life guard - this young lady had lovely disposition and couldn't have been more helpful and informative with the guests . The hotel and indeed the surrounding area could do with some entertainment , apart from the buskers and local Festival there was next to nothing . Apparently this period was the low season , yep can't argue with that one . It took us a few days to find our way around the warren of streets surrounding the hotel would recommend you visit the local tourist office in the main square , ask for the maps for Las Palmas ( not on display ) . They were also very informative about local buses (1.4 Euro per local journey ) , and the few excursions that are available . If you are a sun lover then the north of the island is not for you , the weather seams to divide at the airport - north for clouds and south for sun .

When i arrived at the airport I was told by a rep we are the only ones going to this hotel! We went in a small mini bus to the hotel while others on our flight boarded large coaches. When we arrived at the hotel it looked lovely and clean and the staff were lovely. It was 10.30 in the evening so they brought us some sandwiches as the restaurant was closed which were lovely. The next day we woke to a very grey cold day and wished I'd brought my hoodie but hey ho we decided to use the spa which was very busy. In the day we had a little walk round the city then in the evening we got ready for our evening meal. My partner looked lovely in his 3/4 shorts and shirt, when we arrived at the restaurant we were told we couldn't come in as long trousers only! But we told them he doesn't have any, well you don't come in was the reply! But we are half board can we eat outside No! was the reply. So what do we do then?? You don't eat in here. We saw a man in awful shell suit and pointed to him on how scruffy he looked but he was fine as he had long trousers on. We went out to get some long trousers just so we could eat to return to the restaurant where there was a Spanish lady in shorts but she was ok unbelievable! The next day was a cold grey day (which isn't the hotels fault I may add) I went to the lobby to ask did she think the sun would be out today? to be told if you want guaranteed sunshine you have to go to the South of the island. In the evening we decided to go out for drinks but most bars were closed by 10pm it was like a ghost town we were so bored!! We thought we would go and watch Tv in our room but the only English channels were sky news, Maintenance did try to get more but he said thats all there was. We met a couple in their 70's who couldn't wait to go home as they were so board and wouldn't go there again. After 3 days the sun came out so we thought we'd go to the beach and use the hotels sun loungers only to be told by the man there isn't any and the empty ones have been saved for other people. We then went to the pool and we did find some empty loungers. There was only a handful of British people in this hotel and we met a lovely couple and the lady got taken ill and needed to return home, as there is no Thomson rep here they had to phone the uk for help but was put on hold for 45 mins! The people we spoke to said they wouldn't return to this hotel as there is nothing to do here.I would like to say I agree the hotel is clean and breakfast is lovely but I'm sorry we wouldn't return to this hotel.

Well I absolutely loved our stay. The hotel is beautiful and in a fantastic location. The breakfasts were amazing looking over the fantastic Las Canteras Beach. Our room for three people was a very good size and very quiet. The hotel was spotless and the staff were faultless. From start to finish you felt like a valued customer. Wonderful days spent at the roof top pool with the friendly bar staff attending to your every need. Fabulous spa overlooking the whole beach with a great water massage bed and salt flotation pool. You feel like a millionaire staying here. Taxi rank right outside if you want to visit the old town which has a special tapas evening on Thursdays. Restaurants and bars galore on your doorstep. Santa Catalina Park and all the shopping on your doorstep. Go out of the hotel and turn left for a 20 mins walk to the Las Arenas Shopping Mall. I would be surprised how anyone could rate this hotel less than excellent and I think it has a lot of repeat customers. Thank you to the lovely reception for helping us and others when our Thomson transfer to the airport did not turn up. This was our only downside to the holiday but nothing to do with the hotel . Well done you have got it right and I would love to return soon.

My wife and I stayed here for seven nights and what a great place. The staff were absolute professionals and made us feel like family. Located near essential shopping and local transport. Taxis to the old town were only 6 euros. Will definitely stay here again

Having returned from 11 nights in this lovely hotel on May 27th, I'm compelled to give it and the staff there an absolutely glowing review! Honestly, everything was fab. The room, booked via Jet2 was a standard double, no. 232. Personally, I wouldn't bother paying extra for views (how long are you going to spend looking out of the window?) or worrying about high floors. I am the world's worst sleeper! The double glazing keeps out the sounds very well and the aircon is great! If you want views, go up to the rooftop swimming pool (great, warm water too!) and take it all in ;) There is so much to praise at Reina Isabel: the cleanliness everywhere, the way all the staff greet you on a daily basis, the fantastic food, both buffet (of which there is masses of choice even for the fussiest eater!) and the lovely show cooking - just join the (short) queue and point to what you want. The beachfront location with free loungers & brollies is great, as is the fact that a taxi to the lovely old town centre (Vegueta) is only 6 euros or so. The dining room is run like a (very friendly!) military operation. This hotel is built on excellent training to deliver what the Japanese call 'service-o' (giving the customer that bit extra); Everyone knows you are there for a relaxing, enjoyable time and are determined to deliver. The free spa is an absolute bonus. My wife and I returned to the UK fully chillaxed. Thinking of booking? Do it now!! ps, there is a Spar shop 1 minute away for bottled water, snacks, wine etc!

I stayed here for a week in the king suite room 702. They said it was the nicest room they had so that is what I ordered. I flew in from the United States. I was so exhausted and staff were super friendly. The room was about 300 a night and an additional 25 for dinner. The dinner is superb. The breakfast was included and was very good. I asked to change rooms as the room I was in stunk of cigarettes. It was very hard to sleep the first night. The second night they told me they would switch room but they waited to long to change it and I actually ended up paying the same price to stay in a family room that didn't smell of cigs. The next room was very old and dusty. The tv did not work. The maintenance man was very nice and resolved the problem. They do not use air conditioners in the rooms like central air condition. I paid nearly 2000 euros to stay here and I was not at all satisfied. The building is old and needs updating. My allergies were awful the entire time spent inside this building. I was in Gran Canaria doing a medical treatment at Ivi fertility clinic. The treatment was amazing. The place o stayed at sucked! I have never spent 2000 dollars or more on a room anywhere in the world and been so unhappy! I went downstairs to pay for my room and as I was waiting for to pay I took a hard candy in the candy jar. The rude staff man kept asking me if I only took one? What the hell??

this hotel really scores on location as everywhere is highly accessible from shops,restaurants and the pristine breach.We chose half board which is never our option but on this occasion it was so cheap to upgrade that we felt it was worth a try.We have visited the hotel a few years ago and on this visit noted the considerable refurbishments including the sumptuous spa.If possible get a sea view room as the outlook from the cityview is much Jess attractive.Reception staff were friendly ad helpful.There was a wide choice at breakfast including freshly squeezed orange juice.The bread was blandDinner in the evening was served in the same restaurant and was a very attractive room.I quickly tired of the meals on offer although this is purely personal and in no way an opinions generally shared.Were we to return to las palmas we Woukd definitely choose the Reina isabelIt is a deservedly popular hotel.Highly recommended

We stayed here for two weeks at the start of May, in a city facing room on the 5th floor. The hotel was so much more than we imagined and the staff were amazing. The rooms are cleaned every day which we didn't expect and you have everything you need in your room. The choice at breakfast was massive and the food in the Fiesta bar was also great. There was never any trouble getting somewhere to sunbathe around the rooftop pool and the views are brilliant - you can see the beach from one side and the port from the other. Having free access to the spa was also a great added bonus that we took advantage of almost every day. The entertainment on Tuesdays and Thursdays was also really good, with familiar songs and a great atmosphere. There is also free wifi for your whole stay which made a refreshing change! We couldn't recommend this hotel more if we tried!
