After spending 2 nights at Stars Hotel because Air on Broadbeach couldn't accommodate us for the 8 days of our holiday. We arrived 2 hours before check in and the staff were more than helpful and made a 1 bedroom apartment available on the 9th floor, we asked to be higher up and this was no trouble and end up on 17th floor. Fantastic views and the apartment was nicely furnished and clean. This made our stay very enjoyable with lots of restaurants, bars and shops to keep us entertained. Our only complaint was the building and roadwork across the road started at 6 am obviously for the games in April. Thank You we will stay again
We stayed here for two nights and would definitely stay again. We had a two bedroom suite and the views were great, although as other reviews have said the windows are in need of a clean. The beds were comfortable, and the room had everything we needed. Location was great too. Minuses were the mentioned windows, the en suite master bathroom was very dark so we ended up using the second one instead, and the blinds could perhaps block out the sun a little better as it gets bright in the bedroom very early. Free wifi is limited to 500mb too. Positives are the wonderful views, size, cleanliness, location, check in and check out speed, quietness inside the room. We didn't have a car so can't comment on ease of use / access.
Was very happy with our 2 bed apartment. Massive kitchen, 2 good sized bedrooms. For three ladies sharing it was awesome. Totally enough room for 4 if you dont mind sharing a queen bed. Huge balcony, great ocean views. My only gripe was finding the parking but once we worked it out we were fine. You have to park in the shopping centre underneath find air residential and go through security gates find your allocated park (which is only one) there is a visitors area if you can get one and go to the 4th floor then out and around to another set off lifts to get to your floor. Sounds difficult but after doing the trek to our room we were ok. Location was superb. The pool fabulous.
Have just arrived home after 5 nights on the coast. We arrived late and we're welcomed by a lovely night staff lady. Never talked to any of the day staff no one seemed to say much when we passed. The car park as stated was a little hard as quite far away but once u work it out it's ok and free which is amazing. The view from our one bedroom was amazing and honestly so quiet. Bed a little hard but loved the couch and room had everything we needed. One more lounger would have been nice and yes windows a little dirty but hard being by the sea. Would stay again for the view.
Stayed with a friend in a two bedroom apartment so not sure what they paid. Was comfortable enough but not over the top. The views were great but the windows were extremely dirty on the outside. The apartment itself was clean and had all that was needed for our week long stay but could do with some more storage in the bedrooms (i.e. shelving and draws). Excellent location with shops, transport and endless bars and eateries close by. I caught an Uber back to Brisbane airport which cost me $124.00.
Stayed here for a 3 night long weekend with my family. We booked a 3 bedroom single floor apartment for 6 adults. First impressions were ok - seemed roomy enough, and the rooms were a good size. However, after the first 5 minutes the details are wanting in almost every regard. The furniture is extremely uncomfortable, and there aren't even enough seats on the couch for 6 people to sit. The couch itself was poorly designed in a squishy L-shape, so most people have to turn to the side to talk to each other or watch TV. The cushioning of the couch is far too soft and we all got sore backs very quickly and resorted to lying on the floor for relief (we are not elderly). The dining table had 6 chairs, but when actually sitting 6 people the whole area becomes impractical and uncomfortable. The beds in all rooms were very hard and the two single beds are child size - so definitely not suitable for adults. We had a beachfront unit for the view - which would have been beautiful if we could have seen through the incredibly dirty windows. You expect some seaspray at the beach, but the windows were truly dirty and in desperate need of a clean. The unit was on floor 22 - seems like a nice idea for the view - but the howling wind kept everybody awake and was very annoying during the day as well. They have blinds literally cable tied all up and down the rear side of the building that contribute to the noise, just another disappointing "feature". The kitchen seems a good size until you have more than 1 person trying to use it. When one cupboard is opened there is no space to move around (and the fridge is inside a cupboard too - so that's 2 doors every time). The cupboards are also designed to go right down to the floor - and more than once our toes paid the price for this cheap design element. The bathrooms are find - but the shower heads are designed to pump out water needles - very old design and certainly not enjoyable for any of us. Also, the cold water was unnecessary to use in the shower because the hot water tap alone was enough - so the plumbing is not the best. You get 200mb free wifi per device per day, then they charge quite a lot for any extra data. The pool is quite nice, and had ample lounger chairs for guests. When we had an issue with our coffee machine the maintenance man was quick and friendly to address the issue. Other than that, I would recommend finding somewhere else to stay unfortunately - this looks good on the cover, but when you get inside you'll be sorry you did.
Stayed here in a 1 bedroom apartment for a weekend at the start of this month. The apartment was clean and comfortable, with a good quality bed and well appointed kitchenette with all you would need. The location is excellent, overlooking the beach and immediately above the Oasis shopping centre, which includes a supermarket. Dozens of restaurants to choose from in the immediate vicinity.
So we are currently staying here for the first time on September school holidays it's not for families at all, no ramps for strollers out front either. We normally stay at peppers and love it but there was no availability for 2 bedrooms. This is the first time on holiday that I have pulled out a vacuum. The broom was full of hair! Gross! The couch is worn out so much you sit on it and it frays leather and falls on the tiles. I've cleaned the light switches cause when coming in the main bathroom had SNOT on it!!! I then cleaned cups and the black dirty kettle. Even the Nespresso machine was dirty. Main bedroom was the worst the dooner cover had hair on it. The carpet just stinks. And free wi fi yeah that's just disappointing 200mb for 2 hours in 24 hours so the kids finally can use their iPads on holidays and in 15 mins the internet expires! Will NEVER be returning and will tell friends also. Called reception and guess what... they didn't even care. I've traveled with kids to America Canada Fiji New Zealand and all around oz seriously this place was a huge disappointment. Oh and good luck driving up 8 ramps to park your car! So crap!
We stayed 6 nights in a 1 bedroom sea view room and that did not disappoint. I miss the view already! Great location and nice to be out of the hustle and bustle of Surfers. Walking distance to Pacific Fair which is a bonus and being able to get up in the morning and walk along the beach is fantastic. Really Close to heaps of restaurants too. Oh, and Woolworths is just downstairs in the Oasis Mall. The booking included a free car park which is a bonus these days - but it is not right near your room - a little of a pain - particularly when you leave something in the car! (It's about a 5min walk away.) the labelling/signage on the exit arms is not clear where you have to swipe to exit the car park so maybe that could be improved. The shower was a bit hit and miss and the bed not one of the comfiest I've had at a hotel/serviced apartment. The "free" wifi is a bit of a have as its only free for 200MB per 24 hrs - so don't rely on this. The views and location sell this place.
My girlfriend was visiting Australia for the first time from Japan. One of the things she wanted to do was to stay at the Gold Coast and be able to hear the waves and enjoy the ocean view from our room. We only had time to spend one night down the coast, and we ended up settling on ULTIQA Air on Broadbeach, although at $350 it certainly wasn't cheap for us. On top of that, this overnight trip was to celebrate my 40th birthday. During the booking process on booking.com, she mentioned this in the comments and also requested a quiet room. The one-star rating comes as a result of the management's deceptive business practices and absolute refusal to even attempt to work out a solution. Their entire attitude is simply that they have your money and there is nothing they will do once they have it. Let me explain. Upon checking in, I noticed that it looked like there was going to be night roadworks directly in front of the apartment. We asked if that was going to be a problem. We were assured it wasn't. We were told the worst was over and that it only went to midnight. Already, I was concerned about this. At 18:00, the roadworks commenced. It was a cacophony of sounds: ripping up the road to one side of our room and laying and steamrolling to the other. At any one given time there were a variety of grating, crunching, and scraping sounds mixed with reversing beeps, engines rumbling, and the like. We went for dinner. When we got back from dinner, the night roadworks were in full swing. On the 7th floor and with the windows closed, we struggled to even hear the television. It was impossible to relax or even enjoy a conversation. Approaching midnight we realized that if this continued, we wouldn't be getting any sleep that night and it seemed the roadworks would continue till 6am. I ended up calling the night "receptionist" and explained the situation and our extreme displeasure. I explained that we were considering going to a hotel down the street just to get some sleep. She supposedly spoke to a night manager who said there was nothing they could do. We wondered about this as the place didn't seem that busy. Considering the management's disdain towards our situation, it is likely they could have moved us to another room around the back of the building, but who knows? Anyway, we waited a little longer to see what would happen. At 1am, the noise hadn't diminished at all and they were clearly only a third of the way through their planned works. So, at 1am, I called the Meriton at Broadbeach and secured a room. We walked there and checked in at 1:20 am for $131 (a third of the price for a room that was nicer albeit without the view). Finally, we could relax and get some sleep. In the morning, we went back and complained on check out. They simply refused to do a thing claiming the roadworks were beyond their control. They wouldn't even reimburse us the $131 we had to spend to sleep elsewhere as a sign of good faith. Now, as for the roadworks being out of their control, this may be the case. However, there was a letter from the City Council posted in the elevators for the apartment residents, dated July 31, informing them of four nights of night roadworks (Luckily I took a photo of it). We made our reservation on August 2nd (for a stay on August 6) by which time they were fully aware of the all-night roadworks. Not only that, in our reservation, as I mentioned above, we clearly said it was for a special occasion and requested a quiet room. So, although they couldn't have controlled the roadworks, it is clear that they failed to disclose the said information to us that would have affected our decision to stay there. Instead, they went ahead and charged us the full $350 for a room they knew would most likely be extremely noisy all night. When a company chooses to withhold such information from potential customers/guests, it is clearly a deceptive business practice. Upon checking out, I left my number for the manager to call me. It is now over a week later and the manager has failed to contact me; further reinforcing their complete and utter contempt of their guests. Their website asks us to "Choose from one of our Ocean View Apartments or Sky Villas for a superior holiday experience." and promises "Whatever type of holiday you are after, we can help create the perfect solutions." They talk about creating the perfect holiday experiences and solutions, but when it comes down to it, they were dishonest and wouldn't even engage in a discussion about it. Because we made the reservation through booking.com, I contacted them at the time and they are working on our behalf to hopefully resolve the situation. As of yet, the management is apparently being completely unresponsive and refusing to do one thing to make amends. For the price of the room, I will also add we were surprised to only be allowed 200MB of free internet access. The parking situation is a little bit of a pain in the neck. Also, the shower wasn't so good; the water was more a high-powered mist. I will update this review when new information becomes available.
