I booked two rooms When I arrived and enter our apartment, I could not believe the state of the room, it had a stale smell and after looking around found it was very dirty like it has NOT been cleaned for months. The bathroom ledge was full of dust including behind the toilet. There were hand prints on the doors, the carpet was fully and stained. The walls had marks and stains aswell. There was pantry to put my grocery and to clear a corner of the kitchen. The furniture was so outdated and very very old – some areas were worn out and even torn. I bought ice cream and put in the freezer – the ice creams melted. The Freezer was not working. I also notice the air conditioner was dripping. I called the after hours reception and they advise me someone will check it out in the morning – nothing was done even though I reported two times after that. The Manager Jess was not interested or cared less about the state of the room or my complaints. It was not only the freezer not working, the vacuum cleaner did not suck anything and the mop sponge was so old and dirty and dried could not be used. The second apartment I booked was in the same state but worse – the bathroom had moled in the corner and the air conditioner was dripping on the table – water every where. Carpet filthy and dirty. It was advertised as 4 star executive apartment but received 1 star slump The Gym smelled of dry sweat - gang everytime I went passed. Do not stay at room 608 or 602 - both shocking rooms.
we had a fantastic week in this apartment, everything you need for a comfortable holiday, it felt like an apartment, not a hotel....it was so comfortable and to have a washer/dryer and a dishwasher in the unit as well as a full kitchen was just wonderful. Although we ate out a lot, there was nothing better than coming home, having a quiet drink on the balcony and some snacks whipped up in the kitchen...1 minute to the tram stop, 2 tram stops from Cavill Ave....a 7 minute walk if you were so inclined and central. Also the free parking was brilliant too I will most definitely stay here next year.
we loved this place staff were very friendly, helpful, our apartment was lovely nice view which we needed as we could not go out that much also it was raining all the time, but you cant help that the place was clean, a few hick-ups with the TV but that was quickly fixed can recommend it highly
We stayed at Palazzo colonnades in Goldcoast and had terrible experience. We stayed with our family and friends and the room was not clean, bedsheets were stinky and had patches all over as if not washed since ages. Double bedroom was not that bad as compared to single bedroom which had no AC vent. Kitchenware such as plates and glasses was dirty as well. No doubt the location of the hotel is good which means it is really convenient to walk up to surfers paradise and there was a really nice Italian restaurant next to the hotel called Alfresco which is worth visiting.
I called today to make a booking for the next four weeks at 4 days a week and was told by the receptionist that there was nothing available. Plenty available on wotif, so I guess they simply dont need the visit. Last stay , I was put in a unit that had the curtains hanging off, and not finshed being cleaned, then moved to a unit next to a unit that was being painted with lots of thinner, so I guess they did me a favour
very convenient location next to tram, easy access to theme park buses, clean basic rooms, easy 1km walk to main GC shops. Close to the best Japanese restaurant and Italian restaurant. Easy tram to Broadbeach.
nice pool and spa outside - heated - free wifi however couldn't get this working so didn't pursue it. Tram stop was just outside the apartment so very easy to get around also within close walking distance to night life/restaurants/bars etc also close to beach. Very pleasant stay. First time at Gold Coast and would definitely go back.
I can only comment on our apartment as I realise they vary in these establishments. This was an RCI bonus week. Firstly we appreciated the complementary bottle of wine on arrival, free wifi and the friendly staff. The outdoor area was tidy and attractive with a nice pool and spa. The tram stop outside was a huge plus. The apartment itself was far from 4 star and pretty tired. The kitchen had the minimum of utensils and a mismatch of plates, some plastic. The pull out range hood was greasy to touch. The lounge settee was tired and uncomfortable. The bedroom was a good size but the mattress was thin and hard and horrible to sleep on. The bathroom had an unpleasant smell coming from the drain and the ledges and skirting boards were covered in dust and grime. The back of the building (river side) definitely got the best views and sun at Tis time of the year.
We were visiting my son who is studying medicine at UQ in Brisbane. He had very little time to get away around his studies so when he said he could manage a quick weekend away at Surfers Paradise, we were thrilled. Got to Palazzo and checked in after hours(lots of places in Australia do this via an outside lockbox with combo) no problem. Very excited until we got to the room. Dirty, extremely dated, drain in bathroom was smelly and the beds were concave from use. Yuck.Dust covered everything we touched. Be careful when booking as each room is owner occupied and quality can vary unlike hotels. Had fun anyway as we joked it all off and made the best of it. But very disappointing.
Sooooo I stayed here with 3 family members for a week. I must say that the staff were amazing, very helpful with everything, maps and showing where local attractions are etc completely amazing so friendly. The room was nice, very clean, lots of towels, I love staying in apartments and this really was a lovely place to stay, nice balconies, pool, hot tub. Two this that let the place down The tv has very limited channels I think 4 with one being a security camera of the front door to allow guests to see check before letting others in... which is of course understandable... however there really wasn't anything to watch which made life difficult having three special needs children in the apartment at night with nothing to watch when it was too cold to go out. Whilst this seems like a small thing I really think it's the small things that count. Second issue.... the extremely strong smell of cigarettes on the whole of the third floor, the moment the lift doors open the smell hits you like a tonne of bricks it is horrific and definitely an issue for people that may have lung conditions or breathing issues exacerbated by cigarettes... I find it interesting that the hotel states no smoking in rooms or you may have to pay extra money when vacating to allow for more extensive cleaning due to cigarettes smoke yet this smell was incredibly intense and really let the place down.
