The good! Chateau Beachside was the cheapest accommodation in the best location for our required dates. We stayed on the 12th floor and had a lovely view of the beach and city. The pool, spa and car park were great bonuses. The staff were nice and provided free popcorn to guests and allowed us to use the car park for an extended period after checkout. The not so good... The place was quite obviously dated in terms of decor, furniture and fixings- however we expected this for the price! The apartment needed a really good clean to remove mold above door, dust/dirt/hair where the carpet meets the walls and the outside of the toilet bowl where it meets the floor. No air con didn't bother us, the ceiling fan worked well. A small investment in some thorough cleaning, painting and decor, this room could have been fabulous. In summary, it was FANTASTIC value for money with good but dated facilities. We slept well and enjoyed our stay.
The unit was in a superb location in central Surfers Paradise, literally across the road from the beach and a short walk to shopping, restaurants and other entertainment. The unit offered a great beach front view from our 7th floor, north-east facing balcony. The room was very clean, and obviously recently renovated, with fresh paint and new furnishings. A well shaded, old but clean pool, a modest gymnasium and spa facilities were also nice, as was the bar and restaurant that was part of the complex. Free, undercover car parking on site was also welcomed. However, the unit had quite a few shortcomings. There was no air conditioning, making the room uncomfortably warm in Queensland's early April heat. A ceiling fan was fitted to the bedroom only and while pedestal fans were provided, the room was still quite stuffy, even with the balcony doors open and all fans working. The front door of the unit had to be left open to get any cooling breeze. The bed was rock hard and we both had sore backs by the third night. The apartment had a furnished kitchen advertised but had only a microwave, toaster, kettle and two saucepans; no frying pan or skillet. While advertised as a room in Chateau Beachside, the room (704) was not managed by the resort itself but by a Local Realtor (Surfers International Realty), something not identified until after the booking was made. The keys had to be picked up from a separate location in central Surfers Paradise and easy parking was a costly problem. Finally, resort management did not recognise us as resort guests as we rented the room via a realtor, which meant we did not receive discounts and extras, such as for dining, that other 'resort' guests received. Ultimately, we were able to tolerate the shortcomings because we were there for only three nights and the location was excellent for ccess to the beach, central Surfers Paradise and public transport.
I stayed in the hotel for a night in the ocean view studio apartment along with my wife during easter holidays. Room, amenities was alright (simple yet clean and presentable) but considering the price it's not bad...most importantly the view is amazing from the room, staff is courteous n services provided are good, close to all cafe and restaurants.
Although this venue is showing her age, all the important features are in top order. Clean and spacious, comfortable bed and good cooking facilities in the studio rooms. Perfect for anyone wanting ocean views and close to shopsand restaurants. Cavill Avenue is just a block away. If you are wanting to dress up for a nighf out, the bathroom mirror does not have good lighting. The only drawback really is no balconies.
Was told WiFi free but only 250mb per day and need to pay after 250mb. The mattress was too soft and the central air con seems not working. The door gate for the parking had intemit problem. Reception starts at 7am which is late for people has early flight to the airport.
Great location, fantastic views. Very very warm room even when we where on the 14 floor and Had all windows open no air coming in and the only fan it has was the one on the bed making it impossible to have a nice time elsewhere. The sink in the Kitchen smells pretty bad. Also not published on the booking you have to make a 200 dollar deposit!
The Chateau Beachside was just perfect for our special stay. The staff at check in and check out were very friendly. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. Our view over the pool and spas and north looking up the beach was just great. It is a perfect location to walk to the beach, restaurants, and the light rail. Thank you for a perfect stay and we would not stay anywhere else.
My partner and I had an incredibly unpleasant experience staying at Chateau Beachside. When we arrived we weren't welcomed. We stood at the counter waiting for a staff member to respond. She was unfriendly and rude. She explained about the deposit and we didn't quite understand, so we asked her how it worked, then she just stared at us and shoved a laminated paper explaining it to us. This didn't clear up anything. Then we were told to pay a deposit of $200 (which had not been explained in the email conversation we had to book the room, and not in the telephonic conversation to confirm the booking), which was more than it cost to stay in the room for one single night. My partner had also booked the room 3-4 weeks in advance and specifically asked to have a room on the highest floor of (floor 7) for the type of room we booked and was told that it would be booked that way. It was a very special weekend for us as a couple and he specifically asked for it that way because it was a special occasion. When we arrived they had placed us on floor 3... The room was dirty. The bathroom floor is stained at the edges, the carpet and couches were dusty and stained, the cutlery wasn't clean and the shower was greasy. We stayed on because it was only one night, and because the cancellation fees were ridiculous. We were also not informed about cleaning dishes - yes it's on a little paper in the kitchen, but no one told us while checking in. It should be standard policy to ensure that your guests understand what the requirements are for receiving back your $200 deposit. We were only told about this at checkout (we were instead ignored by the staff and were then rushed to sign the policies form) without anything being verbally explained) and after our stay, had to go back and clean the two cups and two bowls we had left in the sink. It was a terrible experience and it was clear that the staff that checked us in weren't the permanent staff - because the staff we checked out with were polite and friendly. I would not recommend this place to anyone else and I feel completely ripped off. I hope you can improve your standards of service and cleanliness. Chateau Beachside got $150 from us for our one night in the GC and that's criminal.
You cant beat the location. Great location in Surfers Paradise which is close to everything grocery, transport, tour companies and more important the GOLD COAST BEACH. The view of the sea and beach is unforgettable . We have taken a Beach Front one Bedroom apartment and it exceeded our expectation. We loved every bits of it. The view is awesome . The rooms are very spacious with great light and air. We never felt the need of an AC. In this apartment you can see the sea from your dining / eating , bedroom and even from your bathroom :-). The front office personnel will request for a AuD100 deposit which they very promptly returns during your checkout provided you have not damaged anything. We stayed there for two days and our room was not very dirty so we didn't felt the pressing need for getting our apartment serviced. You can get this facility if you pay an additional amt. The cost of the apartment is extremely competitive and we are very happy ! The front office personnel were very warm and cordial and offered us free popcorn too while we checked in :-). Only few note of caution the front office personnel is not available in the late evening and pls dont forget your room key and also the front gate access key. Also for two days we had only 500 mb of internet restriction, which was fine for us. In case you think you will need additional then you have to pay for that.
The hotel is very old and tired and the rooms are the same. Doors are chipped, furniture not so great, no air conditioning in our room but a ceiling fan. However, the breeze that came through the balcony door was amazing. Whilst the room may have been a little disappointing, it was spotlessly clean and cleaner than some 5 star hotels I've stayed in. The view of the beach was great. Location - you couldn't ask for a better position. Walking distance to everything you want and the beach across the road. Free parking as well. Would I stay again - yes but only if the price wasn't too expensive.
