Just when you think things couldn't get any worse this hotel turns things up a notch in order to disappoint more. Horrible service at checking in, no aircon in the hallways and lifts during 40 degree days. The restaurant staff are so incapable I was surprised they made it to work. I waited 1 hour my first night for a meal and the second night 40 mins just to have my order taken. Watching the staff I described to my partner as watching a limbless child attempt to make a San castle with out limbs. PAINFUL! I will never return and have this hotel blacklisted with my company.

Older property. Clean, comfortable room. Great check in, check out failure (IT). V poor service on a Tuesday night in restaurant (only one staff on) - went elsewhere. Free wifi couldn't even load a page so of little value.

Not sure whether a refurbishment was done there, rooms looks super new, nice and spacious. Hotel has its own parking so you dont have to park on the street. Heaps of restaurant around and hotel has its own nice restaurant with attractive menu.

We enjoyed the great mattresses and pillows, quality bedding, the view, the room-service desserts that we ordered, the helpful service at reception, organic bath products, pool with a view and it's just a beautiful big hotel.

Brilliant hosts , fabulous pool and great rooms Nice balcony with a view to the harbour very comfortable beds , very private and quiet , stayed 9 nights and never heard anyone else Bathrooms are clean and basic , very hot water with good water pressure Great rates and free parking

We love the Rydges chai and this hotel was great! Really quiet, friendly staff and reasonable rates, took really good care of us and very family friendly, would stay again! Kids really enjoyed the pool and we loved that it was close to everything and within walking distance to lots of great eating places

We recently stayed here after being stuck in Gladstone after a car accident while we were travelling. The staff were highly attentive and lovely. The hotel is older, but it was clean and tidy. It is in a good location, close to everything we needed. The wifi was free as was the car parking. We had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and both were great. Although we had a slight mishap with my son cutting his foot on some glass in the pool, the hotel dealt with it professionally and promptly by closing the pool, draining and cleaning it before refilling it. The also offered us a complimentary night stay and dinner. While we had a terrible few days, the outstanding effort from the staff here made a hard time much more bearable.

We were on a road trip from Port Douglas to the Gold Coast with some international visitors and decided to stop in Gladstone. The Hotel did not disappoint at all, the staff were very welcoming and the rooms were spot on. A great view from the 6th floor over the habour. I believe the rooms had recently been renovated and were very well presented. We entertained our guests at the bar during happy hour and in to the night the staff were more then willing to assist where possible with our guest language barriers.

The Rydges Motel is in a great location at 100 Goondoon Street within easy walking distance to the East Shores Precinct, (a wonderful riverside walk and water bubble park for children), Auckland Hill Lookout and the Marina. The staff are very friendly and always made eye contact and greeted us every time we entered or exited the Motel. The rooms are not big and are looking a little tired (carpet needs replacing) no balcony, but the beds are supper comfortable, linen clean and fresh. Shower over bathtub. The Rydges has Elevators. The Restaurant and Bar are closed on Sundays. A few under cover car parks, lots of open air parking. Free City, Port and Power Plant Tours can be booked at the Info Centre approx 2klms from Rydges.

Conveniently located and staff friendly enough. Bathrooms are old and pokey. Mini bar is expensive, expect to pay $4.50 for a kit kat. The bed was great though and lots of pillow options which makes for a good night's sleep. Nice view of the pool. Go to the thai restaurant in the square below, it's excellent!
