Outdated, but comfortable. Safe location. Not a lot of traffic. Walking distance for coffee and food.
Just returned from our second stay. Will be back! Old Travel Lodge meticulously maintained. Multiple families working cooperatively. Frequent smiles and kindness from owners and staff. Kids laughing, having fun and being good to each other. Love it!
Property is located in a walking distance to downtown Gainesville. It was very quiet. We stayed for two nights and slept like babies. The staff cleaned the room on the daily basis. The room was basic, with refrigerator, microwave, WIFI and bathroom. The ice machine was outside and could get the bucket filled in a very short distance near the office. There was no coffee or breakfast over there but we could find local restaurants near by. When evaluated with overall aspects, including cost of stay, we gave this motel a thumb up. We will stay here again next year when visiting Gainesville.
It’s a worn down ratchet motel, and I understand the economics aren’t there to turn it into something nice. So I would suggest a single, affordable improvement. The room is dominated by a disgusting, horrible, insect chewed bedspread. There is no other blanket. Change them! Throw them all away, and buy new, modern, fresh, nice bedspreads. No building permit, no big expense, no down time. JUST CHANGE THE BEDSPREADS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good location, parking, amenities, working utilities. A few cockroaches and noisy upstairs neighbors.
Good stay, basic, quiet and economical. Great price in downtaon Gainesville.
The room was clean and very nice people that run the lodge.Had a great time
Simple place
Is the property dated? Sure. But what it lacks in amenities and updates, it certainly makes up for in location and service. Josie at the front desk was wonderful and helpful. She even offered to make us coffee when we left early in the morning from our stay. The room was clean and the location is perfect for walking to UF nearby restaurants. Will certainly stay here again on our next visit to Gainesville.
Within walking distance of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium
Older but well clean and maintained. Great location.
It was an available room for a home football game. It is walkable (a little over a mile so it is a hike) to the stadium. If you want lots of amenities or a luxurious room, this isn’t the place for you. But if you want a clean no-frills room, they have good prices and are at a decent location.
Hotel served its purpose. I needed a place to stay that was within walking distance to bars/clubs. This is not a 5 star establishment, but the bed was comfortable, it was clean, and check in was fast and easy. No pests or bed bugs. Area was quiet at night and I felt safe walking around. I would stay here again.
They actually did have wifi - the password changed every few days. The only breakfast at the time was coffee though.
The woman that checked us in was very weird and disagreeable, she pretended not to know the answers to any questions about the hotel and seemed to be seeking confrontation, strange because we were all smiles. The bathroom was filthy, worst we've ever seen, the corners were caked with what looks like years of dirt, and the poor choice of mirror frame which is full of architecture had groves full of nastiness. Should be your last choice of places to stay, it could be a lot nicer with minor improvements like competent housekeeping supervision and front end customer service training. We would not stay there again in its current condition.
I booked this room on line, needing to be close to UF. When I saw the look of it, I was ready to bolt. No lobby to speak of, looked very sad, but my room was clean, the air conditioning needed to be plugged in but did cool the room down and I was only staying one night, no breakfast, no coffee in the room, but they had cable and a hair blower
