Hotel Sunroute Hakata3.0 out of 5.0

The location is quite convenient. It is indeed close to Hakata JR station. Around the hotel, there are many hotels., but this hotel has good value. One point for disadvantage is a view from the room. From my room, I saw only wall of the next building. There are some advantages. As mentioned before, the location is really good. Just 3 min walk from Hakata Station. The second point is breakfast, Variety of foods, including special foods in Fukuoka, are available. In the lobby free coffee is available.
Recommend this hotel because it is at a great location conveniently accessible by Hakata station. It is so easy to go around malls and just two stops away from the airport. The hotel is always good value of money in terms of service and standards. Love to come back on the next return.
I want to let people know that "smoking rooms" do smell smoke really bad so if you are a non smoker do not book a smoking room even if it is the only available room. I booked this hotel for the last day of my trip because it was located very close to Hakata station. However it turned out to be my mistake booking a smoking room which I thought it wouldn't stink like other internatioal chain hotels. I was not able to change the room type because the hotel was full they said and had to sleep in the stinky room.
Rooms small , beds not comfortable, but the location is very convenient , close to jr station and close to the car rental companies, just opposite the hotel. Free wifi in room and free coffee in lobby at morning.
We stayed several nights in this hotel and really enjoyed it. It's right next to the Hakata JR station, and it took just a few minutes to get to the airport by taxi. We booked the Corner Twin rooms which were more spacious (in Japanese standard). Loved the tablet in the room and the free wifi in the hotel. There were many nice amenities in the bathroom as well. We stayed one night in another hot spring hotel in another town in between the stays in Hotel Sunroute, and the front desk was very nice to keep our suitcases in the hotel so we only had to bring light hand baggages to the other town. That saved us money because we didn't need to store those suitcases in the train station coin lockers. Really appreciated that.
I am a frequent traveller to Japan, twice every year but was extremely disappointed by this hotel. The hotel is dirty, and I spotted bugs on the bathroom wall. Even after we requested to change to another room, the dirt and bugs still appeared and we just gave up as we only stayed 2 nights there. Worst still are: everything has fee. Wi-Fi, umbrella, bottled water....... This was the first time I was requested to pay for an hotel umbrella. Could not understand why Cathay Holidays keep on promoting this hotel. It was one of the cheapest hotel on the list but the total cost will exceed those in the middle of the list. I originally intended to book the same hotel which is just opposite Hakata station and the airport bus stop is just at its entrance. I had to choose this bad hotel as my first choice was not available. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Hotel is 2 minute walk to Hakata Station. Vast amount of shopping in Hakata Station and food choices, not to mention train and bus terminal adjacent to it. Room is small but perfect for layover for flight. Bus to airport is brief and low cost... or you can opt for train to airport. Staff outstanding and very clean hotel. Could not ask for better place to walk (exercise) out of rain on inclement weather days and easy to go to other areas of Fukuoka to dine or see more of the town, museums, temple, etc. Free WiFi. TV and iPad provided in room. Naturally refrigerator, hot water pot for coffee, ocha, etc. I did not realize it is so close to Hakata station where so much to do (including movies, and internet cafe if you prefer, and 7-11 type stores if you want to buy things vs going to restaurants). Breakfast buffet is excellent with many choices and traditional seating in restaurant section - or deeper space for some of us men to sit with feet/legs in more western traditional posture. Definitely will stay here again since I found it!
I stay for a night and its so hot that i could not sleep, at 3am i call front, they said our hotel has "no air condition" only heater, No air condition?!???? You have to open window. When i open window it so noisy!!!!! If you plan to stay here and need cool room, forget this hotel. Other that sauna room its perfect, good price, good location.
I stayed here in September and it is a nice hotel with a good location. It is close to public transportation. The room was very small but very clean. It is a more of a business hotel. The staff was helpful.
The size of the semi double room is only about 10 sq meter. You can't see anything through the window cause it was blocked by the building next to it. They only provide two types of breakfast (set); either Japanese or Western style. No free coffee provided, but you can buy your own coffee in the lobby with the coin machine!
