We chose this hotel purely for convenience as we were arriving late via Frankfurt Airport from the UK and just wanted somewhere central to crash that had some decent reviews. The hotel was fine. Room clean and comfortable. Our room overlooked the main train station and the trams were just a few steps away from the main entrance. Breakfast was not included so we ate out until our final morning when we treated ourselves to the buffet counter of the usual fare and the restaurant was quiet. A slightly awkward moment was skillfully avoided by a brisk grab of the nearest towel as our chamber maid came in to our room unannounced early on the second morning. She easily broke the record for the earliest! Our fault of course by not putting the do not disturb sign outside when we returned the previous evening. We had a great time, originally going to Darmstadt to visit the steam train that runs occasionally through the city centre and out to Griesheim. We realised there was an Onion Festival going on at the latter that became a very enjoyable mini beer festival with lots of atmosphere and food, beer and wine.
I stood there for one night during a business trip. The people at the reception were very kind and the room was relatively small, although completely OK for one night. The breakfast was very good and provided a large variety of good quality food. My room faced the rail tracks which forced me to close the window during night. Later I realized that the entire room was smelling terribly of cigarette smoke, although this was a non-smoking room. Next morning I realized that at least one of my colleagues had the same experience. I told the stuff during checkout about this and all they answered was that they are going to tell this to housekeeping.
Very convenient location at Darmstadt Hauptbahnhof. Reception was friendly and fairly easy, although I had to wait for room to open up. I liked the room; seemed a step up from Ibis or B&B. Even though my room faced the train tracks, it was quiet when the window was shut. The wifi worked well. The hotel provides a city transportation pass, which was really nice for the 4 days I was there. And of course, being at the Hbf is super convenient for catching trains, trams, and buses. Also Taxi stand is just on the South side of the Hbf.
I travelled to darmstadt on business, the hotel is near the train station where you can get all available public transport links, trains trams and buses. The hotel offers free city transport tickets. I got here using the direct bus to Frankfurt airport. Only drawback was that reception charged me for the room when I had already paid for it. I booked through expedia.
Hotel premises are quiet ok for a stay, breakfast is also all right but cannot compete with other 4-stars hotels. Due to a change of my schedule I informed the hotel in advance that I will only stay the second night out of two of the reservation. As this information was not followed the hotel staff canceled the complete reservation. I was only lucky that there was one last room available.
Friendly reception, free public transport but room a bit small and stuffy. It was ok for one night, and the free ticket for public transport is great. But the room was too dark and stuffy for a stay longer than a day.
very well located next to the city center and central station, very nice rooms - big enough good parking, good breakfast, a little bit spartan . very good for business purposes , no restaurant in the hotel but nice places very close
Spent 4 nights here on a business trip in May 2017. It was my 1st time to Darmstadt, so I can't compare it to other hotels. I was booked in a "superior" room on the 5th floor with several pros & cons: Pros: - Location - right next to the train station - Clean - meticulously clean (this is a BIG plus from my perspective) - Modern - appears to be new or recently updated - Bfast - nice selection/options (+ was included in the " superior" room rate) - Quiet - overlooking train tracks, but couldn't hear trains (or room next door) - very good sound-proofing - another big plus in my book - Check-in - early check-in (1pm) wasn't an issue Cons: - Spartan - tight quarters, small/inexpensive furnishings - Soap - only liquid soap available - I know it is common in Europe, but I hate liquid soap in the shower. Had to buy a bar of soap in the train station grocery store. - Windows - 5th floor had nice set of French doors which were locked & would only crack/tilt at the top. Why bother w/ nice French doors instead of windows if you're going to limit opening them? - Towels - thin (but large) + only 1 set & no washcloth (only bath & hand towel) + did I mention there was only 1 set? Oh & if I didn't mention it, there was only 1 set ($&@;!@) - Bathroom design - no towel rack or hooks near the shower (nowhere to put towel w/in easy reach when exiting the shower) Overall, it was a nice stay & I would stay here again, but would likely try the Maritim next time (where my company normally books).
This hotel sits 2 minutes from the train station. We walked out of the station and the hotel sat on the other side of the parking lot. Very convenient for those traveling with luggage. The other advantage this site brings is all the bus connections you can access from the train station. The room was clean and comfortable and quiet. We could not hear the trains in our room. The front staff was friendly and more than helpful when requesting to leave our luggage after our checkout.
Stay at the intercity for business meeting. We were surprised on how good the food was - we had a buffet lunch and two group dinners, food quality was quite high. Room are standard and comfortable. Service at front desk is attentive but not too flexible.
