Staff very friendly. lounge, reception and bar very clean and refurbished. Unfortunately the room let it down with lots of damage to the walls and the bathroom including past damp leaks and previous guests hair everywhere. Free WiFi in room with smart tv and sea view within very close walking distance to the town was a bonus though, was fine for what we needed the room for.

The staff were very friendly and helpful carrying our bag to our room. Sadly the room needs redecorating and the furniture was very tired, the carpet was very badly worn and needs replacing. There was no mattress protector on the bed. The bathroom is in dire need of updating and the plug in the sink did not fit the plug hole. The parking was a bonus though.

The room and surrounding area were not clean. Blanket on bed not clean. Mattress on bed lumpy and uneven. Only thing that was ok was breakfast. P.S. water was running down the wall just above the electric fire, dangerous!! Won’t be back.

DO READ THIS BEFORE BOOK THEM

I have reserved a room with sea view , the window was not properly locked and in state of repairs , the room facilities were ordinary and the toiletries were off very low quality. When I reserved the room it was shown on Hotel.com website that they cater full breakfast but in actual they have a so called continental breakfast options , that included very low quality food for eg the bread wasnt fresh , croissants were so dull , the mixed fruit was tin packs opened in bowl and even low quality cereals , the staff working in kitchen couldnt understand a word of English she directed me to main office to talk to them where a half asleep man comes from a back room and said its continental only and you will be served what you have , you can raise a complaint later. This kind of service when you receive what you expect from customer. Not Recommended at all.

Hotel was convenient for the tunnel and is an impressive building but unfortunately it is showing its age and lack of investment. The room had damp patches on the walls and shows its age. However the bed was comfortable, which to be fair suited my needs as I only needed a place to sleep and as long as you aren’t expecting a lot then The Carlton will meet your needs. I am not ‘slating’ the hotel as this is someone’s livelihood but if they could win the lottery or have the money to invest into this lovely building in the location it sits it would be fabulous. This property is absolutely disgusting, filthy, smelly, shower full of mould, wardrobe falling apart, shower no pressure Stay away, no food available in the restaurant apart from breakfast and that's a continental one. I haven't got one good word to say about this hotel Expedia do yourself a favor and drop them off your list of properties It's disgusting
