Actually I liked everything. The restaurant serves very good meals accompanied by the excellent service. The owners made a very good investment to make the people feel comfortable. But the most unfriendly concierge I ever seen at the departure ( especially comparing with the one who met me at the arrival) spoiled the overall impression.
The hotel is better suited for Business, than pleasure. We had two rooms. Both rooms were small, but adequate. Amenities are what was expected of a hotel that catered towards business travelers. Only real issue was that the large gate locks at night and the night-time attendant was either sleeping or off doing something else, because we pressed buzzer and called for 30 minutes prior to being let back into hotel. It was around 1am, and I was rather upset given the temp outside. We finally got a hold of him after the 8th phone call. I asked what had happened and rather than tell me the truth, he insisted that we couldn't have been outside because he would have saw us on cameras. I showed him my phone records (showing 8 calls in 30 minutes) and he ignored me.
Great location, Staff was not overly friendly "Luke Warm", compared to other area Five Star Hotels visited. - Hotel advertised Dinner available all days starting April, On arrival no dinning room open on Sunday. After a late arrival, had to seek out another resturant in Florence. - Based on Five Star rating bathrooms were a three star at the most, too small and shower / tub combo very dangerious and difficult to navigate.
Everything was absolutely fabulous at this attractive little hotel. It couldn't have been nicer in every way except the restaurant. The staff there was gracious, the presentation was good, but the food was awful.
Hotel beautiful, bed firm & comfortable, clean. The bathroom bit small for staying a week but nice. The room was quite nice, bit small but to be expected in Europe. Bar & restaurant expensive but lots of great choices within an easy walk. Easy walk to train/bus station for day excursions. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Easy walk to the museums & shopping. tip: be sure to check your bill and mini bar charges!
Restaurant quality was fair with an expensive price tag.
Look they were great they answered questions, there was wallpaper on the walls all very fancy, Nice location, no views, nothing special but nice,
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Montebello Splendid Hotel in Florence. We had a spacious, comfortable room for three people with a walk-in closet and large bathroom with shower and jacuzzi. It was extremely hot in Florence and thankfully, the air conditioning worked well. We took advantage of the arrival day welcome dinner with 30% discount, Happy Hour and the Breakfast buffet on our last day. The food was delicious. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood and a little further out from the center of Florence where most of the sights are so we did a lot of walking but that was all right. Florence is a very walkable city. There's no pool (not many hotels have pools) so we walked about a mile to a nearby park with a beautiful olympic size pool. I would highly recommend this hotel if you don't mind doing a little extra walking.
Very lovely room, great breakfast, free internet. 10min walk from center of florence. great value.
Polite and friendly service! Wonderful location centrally located very beautiful and clean!
Friendly and helpful staff. Location was just outside all of the hustle and bustle and close to the train station. (Walking Distance) Everything was within walking distance.
Montebello Splendid is very nice...walking distance from the train station, Fiume Arno, Piazza Del Duomo... clean, pretty garden..definately worth going back to. In the evenings, they gate the entrance & you must ring the bell to get in.
[...] Parking is 30 euros a night, and internet is not free, only 30 minutes a day, contiguous, is free. The hotel is great though[...].
Super setting. Upscale service.
Room are very nice but very small. Staff is extremely helpful and nice. I would recommend the hotel but be prepared for a small room..
From the moment we walked in we were impressed with the hotel. The rooms were spacious, well cared for, robes and slippers provided. The hotel made an excellent recommendation for a special birthday dinner in Florence. I would definitely stay there again.
the hotel was nice but the staff gave me a low graded room that was not what i paid for. I had to sit there and argue what i paid for. Finally I showed them the receipt from what I did paid for and took a while to get that room. I had parked my car in their parking area and the staff that brought my car up had it smelling like it was burning something inside of the engine. I was very upset because i had a brand new car and the staff was revving the engine from the time he started the car till he parked it. To make matters even worse the staff said that he didn't do anything to the car and that he didn't smell anything and my wife and smell it even when we stepped outside of the hotel. luckily there was nothing wrong with the car but i wished that the staff took better care of there customers property better
My husband and I were looking for a romantic hotel in Florence, Italy to stay in while we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary- and we found it at this lovely hotel. Our room was spacious and very well appointed- with a gorgeous bathroom. It was very quiet- but a bit removed from the city center. However, the walk was appreciated after eating in Florence! The only downfall was that the front desk staff was a bit inconsistent with its cordiality. Overall, we had a wonderful stay.
I often read reviews about annoying vacuums in the hallways and thought nothing of it but it was super irritating to stay at an expensive hotel and have to dodge a vacuum down the hall. The hotel is about a good 10-15 minute walk to the sights which I thought was a bit too far. They put my family (my husband, myself and 1 year old) in a room by the road and we could hear road noise and see the street light at night so that was a huge inconvenience. That night the pay per view movie was not working in our room either. Also, the bathroom was the most ridiculous shape--it had a jacuzzi tub but it was so akward to try to get into it and when you were in it you felt like you were in a 2x2 prison. It was a terrible bathroom. They offered to move us but closing up the luggage and moving my family was not worth it. Instead they offered my family a free dinner at their restaurant...which was nice because it was a pretty good dinner and quite expensive. Breakfast was just OK. The manager did go out of his way to try to make me happy but I just would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Montebello Splendid was just perfect --- splendid. The hotel was smallish and tucked into a beautiful little piece of Florence near the Arno river and the American Embassy. It was a healthy walk along the Arno to get to the main tourist areas but perfect for those who enjoy a stroll after dinner. The hotel was gorgeous --- a step above the Four Seasons. The rooms were smaller but intimate and beautiful with a great bed, bathroom and large windows to catch the Florence breeze. They served a wonderful breakfast with the freshest of everything. I really can't say enough about this hotel. It was incredible and a great value.
